At any place, at any time, there are always some randos looking for a game of RE5 online. Never Kijuju alone.

Nintendo Japan has been putting out videos reminding people about Famicom mike features.

(There is also an article.)

But you have to get the Famicom controllers for Switch for it to work? Bogus. What if I, like, hook up a USB mic?

There's a button-based work around for it that I used when I played the FDS version of Zelda on it in December: hold R+ZR or L+ZL and it interprets it as a mic input.

Has anyone else had one of their JoyCon sticks develop persistent drift and, if so, how did you fix it? My left stick has started drifting left, mostly when releasing from up or down. I've tried compressed air, and read that electrical contact cleaner can work.

There's also a recalibration option in settings. My right stick is doing the same thing.

Recalibration doesn't help; it's intermittent, not persistent.

I should clarify that blowing in some compressed air did help matters; the stick now reads right inputs and drifts left less frequently. But I'd rather like more of a fix.

Is it an older joycon?

First few batches had a known defect that weirds up the analog sticks like that. You can find some online guides for how to fix it or else you’d have to buy a new one.

Late 2017 - I think we bought it in September?

I've found several of the online guides, but I'm wondering if anyone here's had success with specific ones.

I've been having similar issues, my left joycon will occasionally start drifting up and left for no good reason. I can fix it by just tapping the joycon, but I don't like this trend.

Mine recently decided it doesn't want to register up inputs anymore.

I replaced it with one of those hori ones with a decent d-pad that you can only use in handheld mode, but I wouldn't mind fixing it so I can use that weird "dock" thing I keep near the tv.

Not a huge fan of these y shaped screws. I have 30 screwdrivers in this house, none of them are a Y.

If there's one constant about Nintendo hardware it's that if you ever intend to open it up, you better have a tri-wing screwdriver handy.

Baba is You is totally rad and a delightfully clever brain tease. I both anticipate and dread the upcoming level editor feature.

I’ve had that problem and compressed air under the rubber seal on the analog stick cleared it up.

I had the joycon drifting thing a while back and after compressed air did nothing I had to mail 'em away to Nintendo to get them fixed. They paid for everything, including the courier, which was nice, but it's about a two-week wait.

I would have considered opening them up, but new joycons are a hundred bucks a set here, even without considering that these were the Splatoon ones that were only sold individually in Japan.

Yeah, I got the stick drift. Despite it being out of warranty, Nintendo Europe didn't charge me for the fix. Which was pretty great, really.

Mine's been drifting for months and honestly I've gotten unbelievably good at navigating the rafters in Anor Londo while always moving left.

Nindies-focused Direct announced for Wednesday.

I don’t think there are that many prominent Nindies announced for the next few months, certainly not enough to warrant a 30 minute presentation, so I’m expecting some surprise announcements

Not shocked we are getting a GDC Nindies direct, because they always do that, but yeah, 30 minutes is meaty.

Tom Nook never actually forces you to part with your money.

Going one step further, bells are only currency by Nook fiat. Let's toss aside the mobile game -- I'm not familiar with it, and I suspect its monetization techniques will ruin this argument -- but in the AC games with which I'm familiar, no one else in town deals in bells. The city dwellers do, but they exist within the system. The townsfolk have a barter-based economy outside of Nook himself.

At no point are you ever forced to engage in Nook's economy. You could obtain all of your furniture from the other townsfolk, but you make the conscious decision to engage in consumerism. The problem is not Tom. It is the player.

Uh, I though you couldn't move into the town without getting a house, therefore getting you in debt with Nook.

You get in debt with Nook, but you never have to actually pay that back - he can't mess up your credit score and never calls in the animal mafia to break your legs to pay it back.
