30 minute workout (the one with three patented Sir Sly Ry kettlebell circuits) plus a bunch of two-handed swings with sets of overhead press (8 reps per hand) in between the swings. Was able to finish swing 300 by the time the stop watch hit 30:00. Granted, I was able to do this with a full minute to spare a week ago, but a few days ago I only managed to get 250 swings in and had to skip a set of overhead press.

So today was a good day. The two-handed swings have definitely gotten less intimidating and exhausting since I started doing this workout. I'm doing 6 sets, 50 swings each.

I'm getting back to the gym semi-regularly. Unfortunately, the timing means it's always really crowded after work and it's a huge PITA to try to find bars for deadlifts or squats, so I keep having to give up and do dumbbell deadlifts or the leg press machine.

Maybe this is a lot of resolutionists and it'll clear out soon? I hope so.

Man, I've been struggling with my normal kettlebell workouts for the past week or two. Just felt slow and kinda weak. On the plus side, I've held side planks for four minutes consistently each workout over the past month or so, and that's encouraging.

Side planks are still a son of a bitch though.

I'm easing back into doing arm stuff again after jacking up my wrists in December. Feels good.

Nice!

I've been slack about posting here. Still banging out Krypteia, still using trap deads, yoke squats, and band pushups as the main three lifts. My joints are healthy and I have more gas in my tank.

I have no idea what the effect on my 1RMs for the big three are (I assume bench press is down, since I'm, you know, not doing any), and for the first time in a long time I really don't care too much. I'm willing to be my squat is up, though, as I am approaching some of my old low-bar rep records on the SSY, which is a much tougher way to squat.

The spring rugby season is under way now, so lifting is going to suffer a bit due to time constraints and injury maintenance, but that's fine. The goal these days is to be a better rugby player, and lifting is in service to that goal.

Speaking of: we lost a tight one against a really good opponent this past Saturday. In the past these guys have beaten us by embarrassing margins, but this one came down to the last minute of play! It was 30-27 them, but they scored one more try with time gone. Hard fought battle all around and they were gracious hosts afterward with much beer, bbq, and goofydicking camaraderie.

Also, I scored another try (rugby version of a touchdown)! This is so much more fun than football was because the fat guys get to score points, haha!

Here's my thigh pushing a scrum:

That's 'cause you're buff as hell.

edit: I didn't mean that as a negative. And I hate being the guy that says the same thing that everyone else says. I'm just sayin', you're a large man who also clearly has been doing work, and that's cool.

Ohhhhh you were gloating

Well, it's gonna be a little bit before I have anything to report. Closing is on Friday. Moving some stuff on Friday, doing the big move on Saturday. My routine will be disrupted for sure, but I hope to get back into the swing of things (get it, cause I do kettlebell?) sometime soon.

The rest of you stay swole.

Grats on the closing, Sly Guy!

Yoke squats today. Top set was 410# x 6, then 5x5 at 320# for assistance. Supersetted with chins and band pushups. Also did neck and ab wheeies. Got it done on time and got good and gassed in the process.
