No, I meant the similarly named DLC weapon.

So I killed Rom and now I'm exploring the eldritch version of Hypogean Gaol. I think this is my favorite From Software game.

Beat the game

Who knew you were supposed to eat the umbilical cords!

I'm kind of salty about this, but is kind of my fault for not realizing. I think I'll replay the game and go for the true ending.

Replaying Bloodborne is always the correct decision.

I'm genuinely enjoying myself with Bloodborne, unlike Demon's Souls which felt like being in an abusive relationship. I've found that the further in you get, and the more you level up, the more entertaining it becomes. The game was capital F frustrating in the first couple of hours, but once I found a boss and unlocked the doll that lets you channel blood echoes, the road got progressively less rocky.

I doubt I'll play New Game+ (heck, I'm not even sure I'll get that far), but I suspect I'll be getting more than my money's worth out of Bloodborne.

That's Yharnam. She's also A late boss in the chalice dungeons.

I ran Daddy Ludwig's Sword the first time, because I like big weapons, and it was hyper good but holy crap Bloodtinge builds are honestly the best. Bone Marrow Ash + Repeating Pistol = Gigantes DPS from a distance.

Do you fight her or does she just stand there?

She just stands there in the main game. You can fight her in the Chalice Dungeons.

I finally got past Rom, then I killed Darkbeast Paarl on my first try immediately after, and then rolled on.

At this point, I know I'm getting close to the end of the main game bosses (just killed Mikolash), so I have the DLC and the rest of the Chalice Dungeons to go.

I'm up to the Lower Pthumerian Dungeon, though, and this Undead Giant with the chains on his back has killed me about 30 times. It's not that I don't know what to do, I know exactly what to do. It's just that the fight is so slow and boring that I always end up getting careless. This boss just isn't fun.

The challenge curve seems a lot spikier on this game than any of the Souls games for me, personally.

The Undead Giant does ridiculous amounts of damage for where it is in the progression, don't feel bad.

I had to have a tip from a coworker to get there, but I love Castle Cainhurst. I'm told I'm a good level for the DLC, and I know it has my precious Moonlight in it, so I bought it and will be doing it next.

Queen Yharmam is my favorite non-DLC boss, a fitting reward for getting through those damn Chalice dungeons

You've made the right choice. The DLC is amazing on every level. I honestly can't say enough good things about it.

The Wet Nurse is no more.

From the state of the Hunter's Dream I'm guessing I'm near the end? Doing Hunter's Nightmare now I guess. Maybe I'll try the Chalice dungeons as well.

You're right on the doorstep of finishing the game. Do anything you still want to do now.

There is no more perfect time than right now to play through the DLC.

I effectively spent $330 for this game, and now I can't imagine playing any other From Software action RPG. Everything about this game just feels so good. Quickstepping is the greatest. Even when I'm playing super defensively quickstepping in, attacking, and quickstepping back out still feels like playing as an unstoppable predator. And then you get to Yahar'Gul and everything outclasses you so hard that running is your best option. It's like, yeah, you're good, but you're only a beast at best. Everything about that just works for me.

In Dark Souls, you are afraid of everything.

In Bloodborne, everything is afraid of you.

I spent about ten minutes with the weapon I bought the DLC for and then decided I couldn't leave either the Saw Spear or the Kirkhammer behind.

Maybe I can mess around with it in Chalice Dungeons.

I'm really enjoying it too. I'm glad I gave it another shot after petering out the first time. In retrospect, my problem was playing it as a shieldless DS and not being aggressive enough. Now it's clicking and it's awesome.

There certainly is a style to this game that DS does not train you for. I wonder if people going from BB to DS also have difficulty transitioning? Or can you play DS as aggressively as you play BB?

Edit: And as people have said the first level isnt' that great of an introduction to the game.

Girl, what have I been saying THIS ENTIRE TIME? Like, for YEARS

Dark Souls II was an "easy" Souls game when it came out, but when I played SotFS after I played BB, it was...just...incredibly, incredibly easy. Once you get used to BB's speed, it's hard to go back. Thankfully Dark Souls 3 seemed to be a bit faster so that was nice.

I loved the first area of BB. It really makes you rethink how Souls games work. You have to unlearn everything and adopt similar-but-new habits.

I two-hand stuff so much more frequently in Souls now. Bloodborne has taught me to See the Matrix and I probably dodge 5:1 more than I block anymore. Bloodborne will absolutely make someone a better Souls player. Especially Dark Souls 3, which shares a lot of the speedy DNA of its Lovecraftian cousin.

I played Dark Souls 3 right off getting platinum in BB, and I gotta say I totally disagree. The lack of quick steps, rally and blood vials completely shatters the approach I tried to take. Bloodborne is about getting in and fucking up everything. Dark Souls is a lot less forgiving with iframes, and the healing is so much more limited, and maybe it's just me being bad but I couldn't find a weapon that let's you attack out of a roll like you can attack out of a Quickstep in Bloodborne, which is very much my entire strategy.

The DLC has the same problem every Soulsborne DLC I've played has - everything has too much HP and deals too much damage. A thing I have to hit fifteen times to kill, but only needs to hit me twice when I'm sitting at 40 Vitality should be relegated to boss battles. Does everyone that doesn't build for defense just die if they get hit?
