Default Master List of Tyrant Game Recommendations

Mods, please sticky if you would. Thanks.

I agree. This comes up a lot and really deserves its own thread. So I made a spreadsheet! I make spreadsheets for everything someone help me

I made tabs for some of the more popular platforms and made an example listing (it was the first game that sprang to mind where I could immediately think of pros and cons). Feel free to add tabs if you need to.

Have fun!

Hmm... do you guys think a Platform column would be better or worse than individual tabs?

A column would be less messy, but harder to sort/filter due to those pesky multiplatform games. With tabs, you just go to the system you're interested in and don't have to worry about other results.

EDIT: And you guys don't have to enter your own Counterpoints. I just thought it might be useful if someone else wanted to explain why they *didn't* like the game.

I say stick with tabs. The people looking for recommendations typically just bought a system, and thus are only interested in those games.

Aw, counterpoints are fun. But yeah, people should notice the tabs. They're admittedly easy to overlook in g-docs, being all at the bottom in a disabled-looking shade for gray.

Edit: also, this could get weird with lots of us editing it at once right now. Maybe try not to edit things people have *just* finished typing. Give it a bit. Anyway, i gotta go do some yardwork, so I'll come back later.

You *can* use them. You're just not obligated or anything. (I noticed turtle was trying very hard to find something bad to say about ALBW)

Moved Mighty Switch Force from PS3 to 3DS. If someone notices that something is misfiled, go ahead and move it to the correct tab. Also, feel free to add to a recommendation -- the point here is to have a single listing that has all the reasons to buy laid out in one place. Just don't delete other people's stuff.

Added Devil Survivor Overclocked as well as seconded SteamWorld: Dig.

I then closed the doc so I don't spend all day adding my favorite games to each system. I figure I'll just second stuff I like and add one game per system so it doesn't become BuckTwenty's favorite games list.

I'm allowed to add new tabs entirely, right? I added a C64 tab, I assume it's okay...

Great idea! Hopefully a lot of people contribute (I've added a few already). Seconding that this should be stickied.

Excellent idea, Droewyn! I've added one (Lost Odyssey (360)), and seconded one or two. I will probably add some more eventually.

Yeah, I've been helping out with this. Adding a few, writing or adding to some points and counterpoints, that sorta thing.

I added the Gamecube and Xbox tabs. Surprised those weren't already on there earlier.

I'd like to second Super Crate Box for Vita - while it's free on Steam, its tiny time-consumption per attempt makes it the ideal toilet game, and so the few dollars pricetag is more than justified just to be able to take it with you to play on the bog.

Also seconding Devil Survivor Overclocked on 3DS, Guacamelee on every platform it's listed on, and TWEWY on DS (Should the counterpoint really mention "most of the first week"? Kind of a story spoiler that there'll be more than one week, I always felt. Maybe "the first few days" would be more neutral).

Is it too pedantic of me to suggest that the tabs should be arranged by "family"? Like, is it possible to have all the Playstation iterations grouped together, rather than having PS3 and PS4 way on the left, and PS2 and PS1 way on the right? It might also be helpful to have some way to alphabetize entries by title, but I don't know how to do anything but make new entries.

I made a TurboGraphix/TurboDuo/PCEngine Tab. Should those be split up or is that how everyone wants it. Go ahead Kishi, gush about Rondo please.

Done. From now on, if you notice the alphabetization isn't correct, there's a little drop-down menu on the cell that says "Title" (cell A1 in all sheets). Click it, then click "Sort A-Z".

Also added: Top row is always visible, no matter how far down you scroll.

Yeah, I alphabetized the 3DS titles after adding a rec (guess what it is, go on guess). As long as people sort now and then it should be okay.

Systems seemed pretty well grouped already.

It sounds fine to me just having them together. It shouldn't take more than a few words to note which version of the system a game is for, and I'm not sure there were enough must-own titles for the systems (at least in the U.S.) to warrant separate taps for each.

So you're the one who added Senren Kagura Burst?

Edit: I added Sega CD to the Genesis/Mega Drive Tab. I would have added 32X, but there's nothing to recommend there.

I added a Sega Saturn tab. People who've played more than the Panzer Dragoon games extensively should probably add to it.

Man, just seconding all of the appropriate recommendations is pretty tiring. I can flesh out that Saturn section some tomorrow, though.

There's probably a better thread to ask about this, but since I noticed it...

Hey Kishi, I have both Metal Gear AC!D's, should I keep trying to get into the first one, or skip ahead to the second?
