Is this when JU posts that there was a minor mistake in the voting process and Board Games didn't win after all?

He spent $200 buying votes for his favorite board game.

No, I just ordered it now. I've been planning to buy it for like a year though.

Good guess, but nope!

It's far stupider.

Well. Time to try and actually remember which interesting board games I've actually gotten around to playing. (My memory is awful.)

(Also sorry for the short hiatus in the current list - sorting all my childhood crap out of my parents' house got real and I'm currently operating on 3 hrs of sleep. It'll resume shortly with the exciting top... uh, 11.)

If someone else is at the table you might want to ask if you can use it first.

I'm going to use all 25 of my votes for the greatest board game ever - Storage Wars.

I'm sure this will be answered in the prep thread, but just to ask the question now: are RPGs included in this (for what it's worth, my preference would be "no", since they're so different from other tabletop games).

Second this. We could easily do a future list of "Top 50 Tabletop/Paper-and-Pen RPGs" and still have hundreds to choose from for each list. And while I play both, there's a substantially different experience between playing a board game and a RPG in my book. It seems weird for things like D&D, Exalted, and Nobilis to be mashed up against Chess, Puerto Rico, Dominion, and Twilight Imperium. Also there are many RPG-ish games that clearly fall in the world of board games (like Descent, Pathfinder Card Game, or Mansions of Madness), so it's not like RPG fans would have nothing to vote for.

I'd third this motion. Plenty of content there for at least a half dozen of their own popularity contests.

You nerds just want a contest where you can vote for each edition of D&D separately.

Mostly I don't want 3 editions of D&D to knock out good board games.

My preference would be no simply because I'd really hate to have to have to figure out how to rank the various editions of D&D and Pathfinder.

That would be weird though. Combining, like, Basic D&D with 4th Edition would be like saying that Alien and Aliens are the same movie.

Not to me it isn't. Dungeons and Dragons is Dungeons and Dragons, regardless of what edition I'm playing. I would rank a tabletop/board game I've played multiple versions of based on how I feel about the game as a whole, not individually considering the rule sets of each version.

Both of these questions will be answered, yes, and the decisions have already been made prior to this conversation, based on several previous such conversations. That being said, I'm not posting the submission thread yet because A. We don't do that until the running thread has begun it's top 10, and B. I have to do a bit more prep work for it tonight. I should have it ready for ~this time tomorrow, though. Please save further discussion until then.

Please look forward to it! I guarantee it will be fun!

More rules talk please. I'm still confused as to how TTG won by tying.

People moved their votes around manually, mostly (entirely?) to vote for Star Trek, which was excluded from the poll due to an oversight. Refer to the bolded list in the opening post, which summarizes the modifiers.

I didn't mind too much losing a couple of votes to Star Trek because it's frickin' Star Trek. I am happy about the vote share I'm getting. Hopefully that means mine will be coming up soon. Anyhow, I'm taking the time until then to play as many games as I can.

So you've graduated from not reading posts to not reading the forums at all now? Try looking right below this thread, maybe?

I do what I want Jbear! I can't be held down by rules and order. Or reading! If its not in New Posts when I click on it it might as well not exist!

So on a list of Top 50 movies, you'd consider RoboCop and RoboCop (2014) to be the same movie?

I think that would only be true if there was an Advanced Robocop 2nd Edition.
