Interview with Rolling Stone about the new tour. They're rehearsing three hours' worth of material for a 90-minute show, so there's going to be a lot of setlist rotation.

I am downright impatient to be in a situation where I can listen to that

I am way outside the target audience for this one (I only recognized the eponymous song and My Shot), but what an inspired idea.

I'm seeing the Ill-Advised Vanity Tour next weekend! It's taking a lot of willpower not to look up the setlists he's already performed.

I'll be seeing it on the 23rd, I am considerably hype.

I splurged for a VIP ticket so I hope to at least come away with a photo with him.

First; I can't really help but feel that this is a bigger honor for Lin Manuel than any of the music awards he's won.

Second, this has to be the first and only time Weird Al has said a cuss, right? Because even though he was using the cusses in the most literal sense possible and while quoting someone else, it still was JARRING

You mean "bastard"? Even interpreted as a cuss word, that's about on the same level as "hell," which he's said a few times.

The most vulgar thing to appear in the liner notes of a Weird Al release is the band name "Cherry Poppin' Daddies."

When I was a kid, I always made sure my parents didn't hear the entirety of Dare to be Stupid, because I thought the lyric "you can just give up the ship" was saying... something else.

But that said, man, some Weird Al songs are downright scary, even if they don't include cussin'. The extra gory version of The Night Santa Went Crazy immediately comes to mind, and Good ol' Days? Shudders...

Just came back from the Ill-Advised Vanity Tour. It really is a very "anything goes" setlist of entirely originals, with the exception of a medley of parodies toward the end, and one of the Star Wars songs during the encore. Tons of fun, and very loose and low stress. Setlist from my show:

Fun Zone
Melanie
Young, Dumb & Ugly
Midnight Star
Nature Trail to Hell
Close But No Cigar
Bob
Happy Birthday
You Don't Love Me Anymore
With My Own Eyes
If That Isn't Love
When I Was Your Age
I Remember Larry
UHF
Christmas at Ground Zero
Jackson Park Express
Eat It / I Lost on Jeopardy / Amish Paradise / Smells Like Nirvana / White & Nerdy / I Love Rocky Road / Like a Surgeon
Should I Stay or Should I Go
The Saga Begins

Saw Weird Al at the Apollo last night and it was great! It was so great!

Also I got selected to be on Weird Al Jeopardy, so that happened. I never lost (on Jeopardy, baby), but I didn't win either, I got a nice forgettable second place.

Dunno if anyone was recording though so it may or may not wind up on the internet. If so you can all see me badly flub one of the questions.

Went to the show tonight in Sacramento. Lots of fun stuff and a number of old favorites

Setlist:

Young, Dumb & Ugly
Melanie
The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota
Midnight Star
The Night Santa Went Crazy (differed from the album version in that "Santa's dead" instead of in prison)
UHF
Why Does This Always Happen to Me?
My Own Eyes
Close but No Cigar (being in Sacramento, they had to do their Cake style parody)
CNR
Dare to Be Stupid (done in Grateful Dead style)
One of Those Days
Dog Eat Dog
You Don't Love Me Anymore
Albuquerque (extra donuts live version, plus at the "Wait a minute, where was I" part, they stopped and restarted the song for about a minute before "oh, yeah" and going back and finishing up the song)
Eat It / I Lost on Jeopardy / Amish Paradise / Smells Like Nirvana / White & Nerdy / I Love Rocky Road / Like a Surgeon
Encore:
I'm Down (Beatles cover)
The Saga Begins

This post was eaten in the big forum reset so here it is again, paraphrased:

If anyone's interested, recordings of the entire tour have been posted on Stitcher Premium. Not a huge fan of putting them behind a premium subscription service, but there are... ways to pull the MP3s off the site if you're so inclined.
