That's awesome! Go you!
My knee has been Kinda Hurting since that incident almost two weeks ago now. I can walk around find and have been to longsword practice, but lateral motion feels unstable and iffy. |

This last weekend they had a climbing comp at the US National Whitewater Center where the wall went up like 55 feet with no ropes. Because you could just fall in the GIANT FUCKING CRASH POOL.

One of the two girls there climbs at my gym. She is finishing up her freshman year in high school and I guarantee she could beat most of us arm wrestling. Mokrap could probably give her a fair go.

it is for real the most practically valuable thing I get out of rock climbing. I can carry a ton of grocery shopping on only four fingers and not have to stop to unlock my car.

We did an Ultimate Frisbee tournament my last week of work at my old job, which was a great way to say goodbye to the game. Another coworker who is trying to learn more about sports photography (he usually just does landscapes) got this picture which is pretty great! That was a scoring catch too.

Awesome shot!
I went back to wrestling practice because I've been sitting around doing nothing for too long. Got lightheaded/nauseous a couple times, but that's what happens when you get back on the horse and I had no problem sitting down and taking it easy. I had to favor my knee so there were a few things I had to say I wouldn't do, but it went well overall. We also started on some striking/punching and partner work with that (hand pads and double body pads). I've never really done any of that before, so that was neat! |

I did 15 miles with 2,000 feet of elevation on the mountain bike on Sunday. Those hills in north central PA will give you a workout, that's for sure. Weather may not permit riding this weekend, which is a shame. But I got a new fat bike about a month ago, and I love it.

@VioVix: Helluva catch!
@Pauly Foo: It ain’t wrasslin’ if you don’t get nauseated! Good job getting back in there! @RyRy: Nice work! Hill biking sounds brutal. —— I had a rough week for a lot of reasons last week. It ended with my rugby club’s formal, though! I love getting drunk in a suit, anyway, so it was extra rad. We gave out awards. I kinda thought I might be in the running for best FNG (fuckin new guy). I didn’t get it. Instead I got Best Pack Player! (The pack are the big guys numbered 1 through 8. They’re the guys who are in the scrums. I’m a lock, which is in the second row of the scrum. (Incidentally, if you wanna be all up on a lot of sweaty man meat, play lock! Srsly, google how locks bind in.)) It was almost unanimous, apparently! I am beyond pumped, because unlike FNG this means I won out over some veteran players! I’ve really been spending lots of time trying to learn the sport, and I’m glad it’s working out for me. The trophy, btw, is perfect for what is essentially the Best Fathlete Award: ![]() It’s kinda hard to see, but etched into that is a silhouette of “Davey,” our mascot (a bearded man in a coonskin cap) and “Best Pack” “Will S. Clay” |

So here are some pics of my recent trail riding experiences. Nothing too fancy but hey, guys on bikes in the woods. It's good stuff.
The first two are from my ride from a couple of weeks ago that I posted about. Here's me on my fat bike and my buddy Kyle on his new full suspension bike. ![]() ![]() On this most recent Sunday we were at it again. Here's me right before I slipped and fell off the bike. Those rocks were slippery! Of course Kyle just had to cross with no incident. ![]() ![]() Greg though, he wiped out harder than I did. He was laughing though as he went flailing though, so I knew he was ok. ![]() And another stream crossing... ![]() I think this last one is from the start of the ride, which was a sturdy climb that kicked my ass. If I'm correct about that, then that is not a smile on my face but a look of the utmost concentration and ragged determination. ![]() Well you get the point. Hey, trail riding is fun! At least when you're not climbing. But climbing is a part of it, and goddamn, it sure does make you stronger. Sunday was a good day. edit: Oh and Tom is the one taking the pictures. He likes to ride ahead and then find a spot for a photo op. He's an incredibly skilled and trained cyclist and rider. He's small but he's a bicycling monster. |

Oh yeah. The fat bike is fun. More grip, and more bounce. Doesn't even need a front suspension, the tires are just cartoonishly large. It also gives me a little psychological boost, compared to my first bike with skinnier tires. I'm glad I discovered trail riding. It's a great way to challenge myself while still getting outside and like, having little adventures.

Well, I got in a fight with a tree yesterday. It won. Back wheel kept bouncing and then I lost control and headed straight into the tree. I felt my back start bending backwards in a way that it is not meant to bend. Pretty scary, and apparently it looked pretty bad, so said the guy who was riding behind me. But hey no broken bones or compressed discs or cracked ribs or broken collarbone....just about any of those could have happened in that instant. I'm glad I keep my upper body at least decently conditioned! That could have been a disaster yesterday. Thankfully I've walked away with just a bloodied up arm and a hell of a lot of muscle soreness from forearm to shoulder blade.
But enough about that, I'm gonna be a celebrity! ![]() |

Ry: Fuck yeah! Bike yo bike
—- Played in a rugby 7s tournament Saturday and now I have a valid opinion about artificial turf! It fuckin’ sucks! The rug burn wasn’t as bad as I expected, as it’s brand new fancy turf, but still bad. Worse was the heat. Everyone’s feet were burning even through their boots. Add in that 7s is really not where I shine (full 15 v 15 union matches are my jam) and you get a rough day. But you know what? Still fun. I made a tackle that was hard enough to cause a turnover and get a solid “OHHHHH” from the crowd, so it’s still a good day. |

Played a pre-season friendly against the Gwinnett Lions out of Georgia this past Saturday. Never played them before, but a close tough match resulted in a lot of instant friendships! Both clubs had a great time drinkin and singing stupid somgs and limping around afterward!
Here are some pics of me doing VIOLENCE HUGS bc I’m a TACKLIN TYRANT ![]() ![]() ![]() And here’s a scrum about to happen! I’m just to the left of #6 there. ![]() Last edited by Mokrap of Croton; 08-09-2018 at 09:07 AM. |
