It's a tragedy that the 3DS never had Virtual Boy ports to get the good ones out of limbo.

You're not wrong, but if you can find it cheap enough it's still a neat game to play through at least once just 'cuz of how weird the bosses can get.

I've never been able to get into them, either. I think because the first one was subtitled Super Mario Land 3 I was expecting it to be a faster-paced game like the Mario platformers. Instead it felt slow and more like a puzzle game. I always end up getting bored and quitting after a few stages.

The King Knight DLC for Shovel Knight is kind of a Wario Land, right?

Shovel Knight is extremely good, and its DLC campaigns take it in all sorts of goofy directions. It is its own excellent thing, but it's got more Mega Man in its DNA than anything else. The upcoming and final campaign gives you a character who appears to have Wario's tackle and Mario's spin-jump.

Hnnnnnnnnnnnng I need to get that soon, perhaps with Christmas gift cards. Should I get it on 3DS, Wii U, or PS4?

Serious answer: I like it best on 3DS, because the stereoscopic effects are very pretty and the exactitude of the resolution means there are no subpixel alignment issues. If the idea of a serious platformer on a portable does you wrong, go with Wii U, as you can pick up an amiibo and try out the co-op mode. |

I got it on 3DS and didn't look back, but I may yet get it on Switch or PC. We'll see.

also the bottom screen can be used in a zelda-style item select menu, which is quite helpful sometimes

The design doc for Shake Dimension was a single sentence: "What if Wario Land 4 but predictable and mundane?"
I'm all-in for an internally developed Wario Land 5 helmed by former R&D1 folks, though. Make Wario Weird Again. |

I dont know if thats a worthy trade-off, but I never complained about it. |

Wario was born weird, and Wario games are at their best when they truly embrace the weird. Shake Dimension played things too safe, less like a Wario game and more like if Wario got randomly stuck in one of those 80s fantasy cartoons marketed towards girls...but nowhere near as awesome as that concept sounds.

Wario Blast did clearly demonstrate how well Wario can do just barging into any other franchise and antagonizing the shit out of its characters.

I think Wario would be a good pick for a pure adventure game or rpg or something not-action.
Like a big world with lots of opportunities to be greedy etc. He's a character with a lot of character you know? A fun thing to role play mabye. |

New concept for game or tv show: Wario and Waluigi travel from game world to game world, Captain N style, just causing mischief and generally fucking shit up.
ETA: I just pictured Wario vs. Scrooge McDuck in treasure-hunting and now I've never wanted anything more. |

A pure "action" Wario Land title wherein Wario just bounces around Nintendo franchises with consistent Wario Land gameplay and wrecks up the place.
The possibilities are endless! |

![]() ![]() I liked Shake It for the cool cartoon style, and acquiring items with funny descriptions. Also, I'd barely played Wario Land 4 by that point. The 3DS's biggest failing is not having a Virtual Boy Virtual Console. Watch them try it on Switch or something instead. =P Oh, and I love Waluigi and Wario's bits in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games; explores the former's character a bit more than we usually get to see: Last edited by LBD_Nytetrayn; 12-13-2017 at 09:01 AM. |
