So I finally made it a point to watch a couple episodes just now. This show is goddamn weird. But in a way that makes sense and isn't incredibly forced. I think it works since it just picks up and goes and doesn't bother with several hours of exposition, which makes the world you're watching feel much more natural and way less forced. It really pulls off the show, not tell mantra and encourages the viewer to learn from observation of nuance instead of being flat out told stuff. Like I honestly had to make sure I was watching the real first episode (not the pilot, the zombie sleep over) because it felt like something you'd get halfway into season 2 of something else.

I think I like it but I'm not entirely sure yet, I'll keep watching. If nothing else other media could learn from how naturally the show seems to drop you into its world.

I'm really stoked that Finn the Human didn't really involve any Sliders/multiversal shenanigans. I feel like it would've been really boring and obvious if they'd pulled that.

That's what I expected out of these episodes too, actually, but what we got was even more entertaining. I hope Prismo shows up again.

Though I gotta wonder what happened after Finn and Jake were sent back. What did the Lich do? He seems to be stuck between worlds and no longer has a wish to spend, but I doubt we've seen the last of him.

Also, Marceline was the best part of the episode, seriously.

That episode just raised even more questions! Is the the Lich actually the sentient form of the Mushroom Bomb that has taken a host? What kind of bomb is that? Who made it? I must know these things!!!

The Destiny Gang are assholes but, "How did I even get here, son!", made me laugh so hard.

Prismo was great and super helpful for a wish granting cosmic deity.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like, since the bomb seems responsible for the mutations that later formed the land of Ooo, and the Lich seems to have risen from said bomb, the Lich is like a personified version of humanity's destructive urges (especially since his specific malevolence serves as a strong counterpoint to most of Ooo's whimsy), but probably didn't originate from the bomb specifically... although I seriously doubt any of this will ever be addressed (and frankly, it shouldn't be). The bomb's actual creator is probably just some world government.

I read some speculation that said The Litch is atomic energy combined with magic. I have to re-watch the winter videotape episodes with Simon's backstory, but I'm pretty sure there was something about Magic being lost then coming back into the world.

That actually lines up with how the Lich, as Princess Bubblegum, asked Finn to get Plutonium and stuff...

That's the only old episode (or pair of episodes) I haven't seen, and Cartoon Network hasn't reaired it for a long time, many moons.

With the holidays coming up it wouldn't surprise me if they offered it for streaming on their site or started airing it again soon. Though the episode IS available from Amazon for two bucks.

Five More Short Graybles was pretty funny. If anyone was worried about the show not getting back to form after the big season finale/two-parter opening, then rest assured.

Though there is some interesting continuity with Lady's now visible baby bump. Apparently she'll have her kids (litter?) later on in the season.

Also! The DS/3DS game came out today, talk about it over in the other forum, but I thought I'd mention it. My Collector's Edition is currently shipping to me, can't wait to play it.

I loved the twist at the end! That was, again, a really good episode.

Tonight's episode was weird and terrifying. "In the tree, part of the tree!" I'm still not sure what to think about it.

I....don't think so? What episode was this? I've seen every episode of Adventure Time and I never recall hearing Finn say that to Marcy. Finn wouldn't do that. Give Finn some credit.

It's in Evicted. It really sounds like dyke but I highly doubt it is!

No doubt, but the sound mix makes it sound exactly like dyke and not at all like dog.

I'm still enjoying this, wish it had clicked with me earlier. Still think it's weird that they lead with one of the weaker episodes. I'm about to watch City of Thieves.
