There's a couple of the adventure mode missions that are heavily bow focused.

Speaking of which, is there a decent way to farm Captain's Bows? I'm getting tons of most every other Captain's weapon material, but I could probably count on my fingers the numbers of Bows I've gotten. (Oh god, is there a Captain's Dragonstone mat I'll need at some point in the game?)

Sticking Antitriangle on an axe works better than using any of the Pegasi.

Update is live.

The first map has a second bond charm as a reward for one of the first battles.

So some quick impressions on the new characters

Minerva is a clone, of Camilla if that wasn't obvious, which is fine since Camilla is one of the best characters. She seems to be more of a physical tank to Camilla's resistance tank, but I'm not positive about the stat line at higher levels.

Linde (pronounced Lind, for those wondering) is similar to the Robins, but has different spells, which makes her feel different.

Navarre is a Lyn clone, in terms of playstyle, but he has a different enough feel. The closest comparison is Chrom and Lucina.

Huh, v1.5.0 has apparently been laid out, and among the normal additions and bug fixes and level cap increases, there's apparently a new blessing that makes your controlled character unable to attack, but makes uncontrolled allies much more effective, essentially turning the game into a strategy mode.

Also Divine becomes a new random weapon trait.

Oh hey, Owain’s in this game now. I guess I should get around to playing it, then.

Played a few missions with Olivia and she's really fun to play as. She also has the highest Luck stat in the game.

Tried Olivia tonight and I couldn't deal with her VA. A woman squealing "I'm sorry" and screaming over and over again was just disturbing. Oh well, 90% of the time I play this game with the sound off so it's probably fine.

Only continues to stress how awesome Minerva is!

Hey congrats on the gift, glad you're having fun with it. Are you going to get the DLC?

I still really like FEW. It makes some really smart upgrades over Hyrule Warriors, such as better ally AI and the whole strategic layer. I just was bummed out at how slim the moveset options were without DLC. The only spears you get are 2 Pegasus Knights! Most of the swords are clones of the same moveset! There's no armoured units you can play as at all!

But also some of the characters you do get ARE incredible to play as. I really like Lissa and Tiki straight up, and while I generally didn't like the floatiness of the Pegasus Knights, Camilla was a really fun moveset probably because she was just heavier, and was about throwing her dragon's weight all over the place.

I really should go and play some more with the DLC characters. I hope Oboro is a good moveset, as a different spear user, and I just really want to play as Owain because he's an incredibly lovable goofball.

Both DLC spear users are great. I use Oboro a lot.

Owain’s victory screen is the stuff of legends.

The lack of character variety compared to Hyrule Warriors is really the only knock against the game in comparison.

It’s just that that happens to be a pretty serious knock.

How well did this game sell? I am interested in playing it but if it's likely to get a sequel with a likely expanded roster, I could just wait.

Wikipedia says:
Quote:
The Nintendo Switch version sold 41,491 copies within its first week on sale on Japan, whilst the 3DS version sold 18,357 copies.[16] In April 2018, Koei Tecmo revealed that the game sold 1 million sold worldwide
I think this is a better game mechanically than Hyrule Warriors, but the cast choices and limited movesets hurt it a lot. It's great, no question, especially if you like the series and/or Musou combat silliness, but it lacks the breadth of HW both in terms of diversity and fighting styles.

I did like that some stages are difficult to get the highest rank in for legit difficulty, not because of "Derp you took a single hit" like HW on the Wii U

it's still absolutely baffling that the only non-dlc spear users you get are all pegasus knights

But the DLC was totally worth it in general.

Well, I had to call in reinforcements from LA but I finally beat the story mission where you have to stop Ryoma and Xander from killing each other. Frickin' finally.

I'm prepared to eventually finish this game now!

That's easily the hardest mission in the story mode.
