Celica confirmed, but no Alm.

Which I'm cool with, since Celica was way more interesting, both mechanically and storyline wise, than Alm.

Oh, they gave her a sword. Okay.

So that's eleven Swords, three spears, three axes, two bows, four tomes, whatever Anna ends up using, and one dragon (though maybe the Corrins do double duty here?). I really hope you can Class Change characters to different weapons.

I like that they gave Celica a sword, since she's one of only a handful of characters in the series that can use both magic and swords at once. She's shown using what I assume is Ragnarok, so it's not like she won't be a mage as well.

Let's see... on default Anna is Swords and Staff in Awakening, Bows and Staff in Fates, and Axes in Heroes

Though, to be fair, that's more on the franchise than this game.

There are perhaps three or four FE characters on the whole that could match Hyrule Warriors' roster in terms of being Weird Like That. Two of them are in this game.

Yeah, for all its modern perversion, and, you know, all the bloodshed, Fire Emblem has a tendency towards characters that are Just, but Good; Kind, but Cheerful.

Okay (I played through 1.5 of the 3 Fates campaigns if that's what you're referring to).

Otherwise, Eirika in her Bride job/outfit is probably a mortal lock for this game.

Caeda with the Spears and Tiki with... the Dragon Stone... that gives her Angel Wings...

Tiki is weird as heck and is totally going to be my jam. She looks like Kid Link, mechanically-speaking, and he was my main in Hyrule Warriors.

Caeda is... Hinoka. Their combo strings are exactly the same. Maybe that's a quirk of the class system? Their supers are different, at least.

Every time it gets to her name, the VA switches to Japanese, no matter what setting you made.

Alternatively, her name is treated like a player's name; the VAs take pains to dance around actually saying it.

Uh... huh. I guess they're not saving the other games for DLC. That is disappointing.

I hope the packs for Awakening and Fates features the kids, because they're not in the base roster and yet are some of the best characters in both games.

Eh; Hyrule Warriors didn't reveal the full contents of their Season Pass before release; can't imagine this will either.

And speaking personally; not much investment in pre-Awakening FEs. Which I suspect is the case with a lot of this games target demographic. Hardly ideal, but I understand the rationale.

I was already leaning no, but man, no thanks. It's kind of sad when the mobile gachapon is more appealing.

Ditto. I'm excited as heck for this game, but it's been a real buzzkill to see the reactions here even if I understand but don't share them.

I mean, same here. I enjoyed the recent games but I don't particularly like the Musou sorts of games and the only reason I'd be playing is fanservice, and as such if it doesn't have the fanservice I want, I'll pass. I know you all who were introduced to the series via the newer games will love it, though, and that's fantastic. You all should consider checking out some of the older games, especially if a character from Fire Emblem Warriors intrigues you.

I don't mean to be a buzzkill, and I hope that the people who get the game enjoy it.

It's just frustrating because after playing Hyrule Warriors, I had honestly really wanted a Fire Emblem version of it pretty badly. When it was initally announced, I was pretty excited, but after realizing it has almost no characters I want to play as, it felt like a kick in the gut.

Yeah, that's a shame. I was already not particularly interested in Fire Emblem Warriors due to it being Generic Medieval Anime People: The Game and the cast mostly being from the newer stuff, but DLC focusing on the GBA entries or Ike's duology or the dark world of Genealogy of the Holy War* might have piqued my interest. Hearing the DLC's primarily focusing on the games already represented is disappointing. Expected, but disappointing.

Oh well, at least Marth's crew is getting some love.

* That's gonna be a fun remake when the Echoes line gets around to it, ain't it kids? =D
