It's a modern Doom engine port thingy which supports Hexen, actually.

Yeah, its a tweaking of the doom engine to run on modern PCs. Basically, Doom is an engine that runs the WAD files to play the game. All you have to do is get the new release from zdoom.org, extract, drop the Hexen WAD file in the same directory, and run the zdoom EXE. Should work like a champ, and make Hexen look a bit cleaner and smoother.

Thanks guys! Wonderful!

EDIT: Do I just need the WAD file? That was easy to get from my CD copy, and I also have Hexen from Steam.

YOU GUYS JUST MADE MY DAY. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED FOR CHRISTMAS. Hexen looks and controls much better now. The textures are still the same, but I can see them clearer. It's like someone wiped the petrolium jelly off of the lens.

Stardock is giving out a coupon for filling out a survey it is a generic code, and reusable right now, so PM me if you didn't get your survey e-mail yet; they said it was 20% off up to 50$, but it gave me 25% off the full Gal Civ II digital download (normally 59.99$); it also works for preorders (i.e. Demigod for 25% off AND you can download the beta right now).

This probably isn't news to anyone, but I was shocked to see SMT: Devil Summoner is only $10 new at Gamestop. It was triple that earlier this year.

Hrm. It's BC on the 360, but I'm assuming no online play, so there wouldn't be a benefit to either one, really.

Call of Duty 4 (the GOTY edition, no less) is $20 off for the next week. Applies to both PS3 and 360 versions.

This makes me happy that I was able to get the (non GOTY version) 6 months ago for the same price - especially since this totally cool random internet guy got me the maps for free.

The map pack is also half off (making it 400 MSpoints) for those who for whatever reason never got it.

That's F'awesome. I have a buddy who's been riding my shit to get COD4 for awhile now, and that looks like just the excuse to do so.

BIG NEWS

I got Walmart's anniversary flyer today, and there were some great deals. Lots of games marked down, but the big hitters were two consoles: DS Lites for $99, and Xbox 360 Arcade + LEGO Indiana Jones bundle for $178. These are Canadian prices too, so they might be even cheaper in the US.

It might be a regional thing, but I'll check here.

Also, Buy 2 get 1 free on used games and accessories this weekend at GameStop.

And wouldn't you know it, one of the GameStops close to me has a used copy of Disgaea DS.

Does this stack with the EDGE card discount?

Yes, if that deal with the DS Lites exists I very well might buy the boyfriend one as an early strategic Festivus purchase. Though, uh, don't tell him. But confirmation, yeah. I would love to know.

Looks like it's Canada only. However, some Radio Shacks have DS Lites on sale for $97 right now. Might want to call around.

I'd like to get one of those DS Lites but everyone seems to have broken L/R buttons and well, that's unacceptable.

Yes, but you could always print it out and take it to a store.

Woo! I've been waiting for this forever. Time to actually get some disc-based games for my 360. BioShock, Mass Effect, and... Orange Box? Don't mind if I do!

Now is the time, we're playing more Team Fortress 2 these days than we ever have before. And hopefully there will be an expansion some time soon!

Yeah, if it is Canada-only, try printing it out and taking it to a store for price matching. People will probably just assume it's American pricing.

I'm sure this is coming for the US anyway. I mean, it's Walmart's anniversary there as well, isn't it?

Anybody been using Good Old Games yet? I got into the beta, but still have a few reservations about the whole thing. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'd really like to see what this whole Fallout deal is about.

I was going to look into it for Fallout, but I saw that Fallout 1 is free on Gametap now, and they just got Fallout 2. Although I don't know if they have optimized them for current rigs like GoG has.
