It does indeed mean that. I'm so sorry.

For what it's worth, you can *probably* pass Liquid Flame at around level 20.

I asked some other FJF runners, and here's what I got:

"have your RM, Knight, and Sum with Hermes Sandals on, have your Zerker be zombied with no equipment, Red Mage has DualCast while Summoner has Red Magic, Knight can have either, but Summon might be preferable. Keep Carbuncle up for Reflect and play the waiting game till Omega uses Target. once he targets himself while you have Reflect up, have Red Mage Dualcast Thundara off your reflected party, Summoner does the same, and Knight...well if he has Red do the same, but if he has Summon, use Odin"

I don't think it rolls jobs in any particular order for Chaos. I'm doing regular Chaos and I got Samurai as my first job and Black Mage as my fourth job, for example. So with some luck, maybe you only have to use four Berserkers until the third crystal.

Forget liquid flame, I can't imagine Byblos not being hell with 4x berserkers.

I'd say roll your third job as soon as you finish the ship and hope for anything else.

In the meanwhile, as I'm thinning out the local Nakk population, should I ultimately equip myself with Mythril Knives or Mythril Hammers? My understanding is that the Knives have greater accuracy and benefit from agility as well as strength, and the Hammers have greater power, much greater damage variance, and reduce defence considerably. I'd assume that, since bosses probably have high defence and berserkers have bad agility (and bosses are really going to be the only problem for the time being), I should probably be going with the hammers?

You can ride the boat to some islands with Bio Soldiers. They rarely drop death sickles, a really OP berserker axe.

Yeah, farming up Death Sickles is the standard Berserker play. Just make sure to be ready to unequip them when you're up against anything that you don't want the instant death to proc against.

Oh, for sure I'm looking forward to getting some Death Sickles, and I forgot I could get them that early - but I've got to arm myself for Liquid Flame first.

And my Fire job is Ninja, so I'm stuck with Time Mages for the foreseeable future. Oy.

Any advice for clearing up to the Earth Crystal on an all Time Mage party, or am I doomed to grind forever for the Gil I need to buy all of the rods?

Watch the Earth Crystal give me a Wind Crystal job...

Wow I am incredibly dumb today, I just watched the effing cutscene where I was awarded the Ninja crystal. Somehow my brain confused it with Samurai.

Nevermind!

Since Liquid Flame's danger comes from his counters, the Hammers missing won't advance that. As such, you can ignore their hit ratio.

Because of that, Hammers are more effective on average; use them.

Cheated and rolled my jobs early; KNI/ZRK/GEO/SAM. I know Knight and Samurai are generally pretty competent and Zerker can be effective with some tweaks, but I really didn't want to be stuck with crappy Geomancer.

With Monk, Blue Mage and Berserker, how can I go about learning blue magic like White Wind? Is there a way I can inflict confuse on enemies?

I think I had to use the dancing dagger to learn white wind at some point when I had a blue mage. I hope I'm not misremembering.

The Dancing Dagger would work, yes. That's pretty much it.

This was a very breezy run, though I will say the final battle itself was pretty fun. I'll give it a few days before deciding what to do for a second run.

Hmmm. Earth job is another berserker. I may job fair this one out too.

Rolling three berserkers is a pretty solid lesson to never ever use Berserker Risk in a chaos run ever again!

Now to decide what would make this team as OP as possible...

Edit: fuck it, taking the chemist.

Should I job fair my way out of Zerk and/or Geo? This is my fifth straight year of trying the challenge with no victories, so I kinda wonder if I should try and make it a tad easier on me by getting a 750 job or a chemist.

Honestly, once you pass Sandworm, Berserkers are great. Bosses don't really do the whole "test your ability to use the ATB system" thing anymore. And once they get going, those axes pack a hell of a punch.

Your call, but I'd recommend it. It's for a good cause and everything. Plus, playing the OP jobs/combos is more fun.

Well, then, if not my Zerk, then shit Geomancer. He really is useless on a physical team, right?

Geomancer's not great, yeah. Though I found that !Gaia is a lot better than I first thought before my recent run. If you're gonna Job Fair anything, that'd be the one to do.

(though let's be real no matter what you roll for Fire, they're probably just gonna be assisting with throwing cash at things)

Crystals and NeoExdeath are both problems, but otherwise yes. Berserkers are pretty solid.

My first roll last year was Geomancer/Berserker/Berserker/Dragoon. I actually was surprised at how not-terrible the run went. Some bosses took a few tries instead of going down on the first shot, and I did wind up taking myself to a slightly higher level than usual (finished at 42 instead of upper 30s), but that was about it.

Silver lining of rolling a Knight; now I don't need to worry about my DS Lite's wonky R-shoulder button not working, since I'm gonna wanna tough it out for maximum Brave Blade power.
