.....no, Parley, you hit your opponent with the other end.

Wonder how many times whatshisface had to teach her that?

Default IT'S LIKE PISTOL-WHIPPING SOMEONE WITH A LOADED GUN.

Striking with the hilt is a Valid Move in several schools of swordsmanship!

Just, you know.

Most of them acknowledge that it's not the most EFFECTIVE way to do it.

Last edited by BEAT; 11-28-2016 at 07:11 AM. Reason: IT'S CAN WORK, BUT IT'S WIDELY AGREED UPON THAT IT'S NOT THE MOST EFFECTIVE OR EFFICIENT WAY TO WIN A GUNFIGHT.

Parley's just trying to keep her busy so Annie has time to remove the lock, not to KILL her, not that she can die at this point. Also why the tooth is being kept at bay for the moment.

Paul can get into the details, but like BEAT said whacking people with the pommel was big in German swordfighting. If you read back you'll see that Parley always uses German terms for swords, etc.

Pommel strikes are very real, very effective techniques. Ever been cracked in the head with a lump of iron at the end of a well-weighted fast-moving 4* pound bar of steel?

You wanna be?

No, you don't. A full pommel strike to the back of the head could very much be a crippling or lethal blow.

Though, like... not so much on ghost-heads.

Also; ain't nobody gonna comment on Parley teleporting?

Idk if Tea-San likes pro wres, but he's put this together like a well-booked match. We know that Parley has a handful of tricks that she can use to counter Jeanne's threats, but we also know that each has attached risks and that Jeanne has the means to counter/nullify them. So Parley started out with her lowest risk/reward attack, the punch, and built from there. Parley just pulled one of her trump cards, and now we see whether Jeanne stays down for the count or kicks out at two. The next move will have to be even riskier.

No, see, it was the back of Jeanne's head the first time. Not the face.

Damn, Parley must have maxed out her Translocations skill. She's got Controlled Blink on lockdown.

(The second of these three pages has another combat discontinuity where Parley bips in with her left shoulder turned towards Jeanne, her sword back low on her right side; but then it shows her pommel-striking Jeanne in the face from the left side, completely opposite her previous stance)

sorry, i'm sorry

It might sound like I'm joking, but I say with complete sincerity that I love how we're getting this instead of an exciting magical battle between Annie, Kat and that Green Guy.

I really do love the juxtaposition of Annie freaking the heck out over Kat doing something completely ordinary.

Something about Jeanne's expression in the last panel feels familiar...

Keep your head on the game, Jeanne.

This can't be your first murderin' job as a ghost.

Confronting your best friend with the fact that she's secretly a gigantic robobug is one of the hardest things teens have to face.
