The art is fine, but I honestly went crosseyed at the Rorschach narration within just a few boxes. It's like someone trying to mimic his original characterization, but falling into the same trap his fans tend to get caught in.

I just assumed this Rorshach is a copycat, given the end of Watchmen, so his narration reads like a copycat. I guess I'd need to read it again to see if he references knowing any of the other characters, but I don't care enough to do that.

If this fake!Rorschach turns out to be the New Frontierman intern from the end of the original series, I'm going to flip a table so hard....

Marvel's probably wishing they unloaded the guy two-three years ago.

I guess what goes up must come down.

In this case, DC's sales.

Are Bendis's sales down? I said in the comics thread that I haven't read any of his books for 5 or so years, but back then he was a name that sold books. Books that I found not necessarily bad, but I did find them unsatisfyingly slight at $4 a pop.

I know he wrote Civil War 2 and people don't like that, but if writing bad crossovers was going to sink his career I don't know how he made it through Secret Invasion.

I don't know how much I care here, because I will likely only end up trying his stuff if he ends up writing a character that I will check out any take on (Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, JSA).

I hope fans are ready for a Justice League that sits around eating Chinese takeout and talking like characters in a David Mamet play!

Semirelately, I think we need at least one superhero movie that is basically just an episode of Seinfeld where everyone is in capes and tights

(not the marvel thread, I know, but imagine: Civil War, but Captain America yells partway through the big argument at Iron Man that WE ARE TRYING TO HAVE A SOCIETY HERE)

You could just watch the first (live action) Tick show.

I will buy every single DC movie if there's a scene where, as Bats is trying his damnedest to be a nice, non-broody guy again, a guy who can really work with and lead a super-team, he's frustrated to the point of screaming, "SERENITY NOOOOOW!"

As I understand it, that's sort of the main throughline of the current Batman arc in the comics?

His best-selling book, Invincible Iron, does about 30-some thousand a month. Two of his four books don't make the top 100. Civil War II ate shit at the box office. For Marvel, at least, he's no longer a drawing card.

It is more Tom King doing lightly disguised Bob Haney stuff in the style of 90's extreme stuff. It is an odd, hard to describe mix. Its got a serious reinvention of Kite Man, kind of. It also has a Swamp Thing team up issue titled "The Brave and the Mold."

DC taking its big titles bi-weekly has brought back the glorious tradition of the Totally Random Fill-In Issue, for which we thank them.

Wasn't that the plot of Lego Batman?

Buzzfeed shines a light on Eddie Berganza. I was wondering if somebody major might get around to this.

I remember Val D'Orazio used to get maddeningly vague about the shit going on in the DC offices in the early-mid 2000s, and this at a time when she was naming names and ready to get the hell out of the business. Even so there was still Chris Sims ready to make his bones by cutting her down to size in public.

Eddie Berganza suspended pending investigation. Long time in coming, that.

I thought when this story came up a few years ago they said that he went through the corporate (Warner) sexual harassment protocol and was demoted. That was almost assuredly not sufficient punishment, but absent new allegations it made it difficult for them to punish him again. That also doesn't account for him surviving and being promoted during various restructuring.

California is an at-will state and they could have terminated his employment at any time without cause. They just didn't want to.

My boggle is what this shitbird's value-add was in the first place. Did he outlive everyone else responsible for Identity Crisis and claim that was his?

I didn't really mean that to defend DC's treatment of the problem (and definitely not Berganza), it was just how I remembered this story ending last time. Even if he had some sort of contractual protection, that wouldn't explain him getting promoted or even keeping him around when others in similar positions were let go.
