Holy Mother Forking Shirtballs @ last Thursday's episode
(I'm mostly just posting in case you were like me and didn't realize there was a new episode because you thought they were on winter hiatus)

D'arcy Carden should win an Oscar* for that episode.

*I know Oscars are for movies, I don't care, give her one.

AV Club noted they had to start working on the episode forever ago to give her time to prepare. Really shows, she nailed those performances.

She was great, and also it's great to see Stephen Merchant in things.

Looking back on the series up to this point, I gotta say I'm kind of surprised that I haven't seen any of the various thinkpieces and youtubes based on this show bring up The Screwtape Letters

Last night's episode:
This is kinda the place I expected them to get to eventually, and it kind of makes me hope next season is the final one, because it feels like they're approaching a natural endpoint and dragging it out for multiple seasons would get tiresome and annoying.

Granted, next episode they could just blow up everything they spent all of this episode setting up and go in a totally different direction.

I have a feeling the second bit is going to happen. Otherwise it feels too much like returning to the status quo. If that can even be a thing in this crazy show.

But I’ve yet to successfully predict how any given plot point resolves so whatever. Next week will probably be animated.

Elanor is absolutely going to become the new nominal Architect of the neighborhood, which is a good turn, because even if she hasn't been the moral center of the group, she's absolutely been it's leader. It's a good turn that I'm excited about.

This latest idea is profoundly, tremendously bad, and I can't wait to watch it blow up, as it inevitably will. And the finale next week is titled "Pandemonium," so we probably won't have to wait long. It's pretty much tits up already.

The gang's latest argument basically boils down to "humans could be good if that pesky Earth wasn't in the way," which is a troubling line of reasoning to go down, to say the least.

Mindy didn't exist as a name before 500 years ago, right? So since she made it to the medium place, is Mindy the best person to have died in 500 years?

EDIT: I checked and she died in the 1980s, so yeah.

Mindy didn't make it to the Medium Place because she's the best person to live in 500 years, it's because both the Good Place people and the Bad Place people could not come to an agreement if she got credit for the points her charity plans earned. Without that, her final score couldn't be calculated, which means she can't go to either Place.

But it seems like there's no way even getting the points for the charity would have put her in the good place based on what we know now right? It seems like the 500 years thing was not planned from the beginning, but I guess that's not surprising.
