Oops I did it again

A couple of the colors and some of the shading is a tad off because of how my Perler program interpreted the original png, but I figure I get a pass?

Beautiful! If I ever take on a project this big I might do the space castle at the very end of MM10. Have you changed the way that you stick the pieces together?

I should take a picture of my latest work, because I'm now in the enviable(?) position of having a complete set of MM10 robot masters. It's a pretty exclusive club, let me tell you.

Keeping the black perler distributors in business, I see.

How do you keep it from warping?

It's a bunch of individual 29x29 tiles glued to foam board. I slice a tiny sliver of the melted edges off the sides before gluing, so the tiles fit together without much pesky negative space in between.

Black is pretty easily the most valuable Perler color. If you're planning on this hobby long term, definitely buy that one in the 6,000-bead bulk packs.

I'll keep on keeping on. This is all Christmas 2017 stuff:

Mickey's skinny legs and tail make this the hardest to iron.

I just found a really, really awesome spreadsheet listing accurate RGB and color code values for the complete range of Perler colors (including the new ones!!!). This, the awesome open-source Perler program I use, and some free time and patience are really the only tools you need to do the nutso ones I put together, in case anyone is considering doing any larger-format stuff.

It's been a hot minute since I've done some perlerin', but I just completed these two for some friends of mine for the holidays:

Not bad, I'm fairly happy with how they turned out, though I had to get creative with colors a bit.

Getting back into this got me wondering, what do you more avid perlerers do for storage? Before this I had all my colors in plastic baggies, though I decided to move them to containers. I picked up some small ziplock containers, but even among the two sets I picked up I still had some colors left over, and it's still kinda inefficient space-wise. Any suggestions?

Those came out really well!

All my stuff is just in boxes in a closet, using the various plastic tubs many of my beads originally came in. Don't really have any recommendations, sorry...

I use soup takeout containers from the grocery store, the ones from mine hold a few packs' worth of beads apiece and are pretty sturdy.

https://www.amazon.com/Plano-ProLatc...9EB9JERN3QQ5Z4 except mine didn't have the moveable dividers, so I added some more out of cardboard to hold twice the colors.

Yes, the Plano box is life. I have a few that I use for board games and one that I use for Perler beads. I also bought a bead box at a Michael's and I salvaged the 4x4 package that came with a set of 4000 that I bought one time.

My son has been on a huge VVVVVV kick for the last month, so I decided to make him the cast of the game as a Christmas present. Victoria and Verdigris are currently hiding under my copy of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, which you can barely see in the corner. The final products don't look quite this sharp, sadly; the photo was taken after ironing the fronts but before ironing the backs.

I picked up a couple of those previously mentioned Plano boxes, and I figured the two I selected would be more than enough, but I still underestimated the amount of beads I had:

But at least now I have them much better organized and I can more easily see what I have available at a glance.

My poor estimates aside, these Plano boxes worked out great, highly recommended to anyone else either into or wanting to get into Perlerin'.
