Default Best Game Music Forever Thunderdome 10: Thunder Free or Dome Hard

It's time to vote on the game musics we all nominated! Remember: One vote per person. Each round will last 24 hours. If you do not get your vote in during the window, it will not be counted. In case of a tie, the next new vote will break it. If the tie continues for more than twelve hours, I will flip a coin. Y'all ready for this?

Let's begin! (Bracket Hussein Obama)

We're doing two rounds a day, starting with Mightyblue's pick: The World Map Theme from Nino no Kuni2: Revenant Kingdom. It sure does sound like you're starting out on a big adventure! It's going up against a much more frenetic track: 8:02 from Furi, chosen by Rebelfire. Man, tough choice right out of the gate!

Also this round: Wendell chooses Song A from the NES version of one of the most iconic games ever, Gauntlet. It competes for your vote with a track from a game you're going to be seeing a lot of in this dome. It's Alixsar's nom, The Tower from NieR: Automata.

Voting closes at 7PM PST tomorrow.

That Gauntlet track triggered a massive nostalgia attack for me, but I'm going to have to give the nod to Furi and NieR.

Ni No Gauntlet

The first two were both good tracks but didn't effect me in any considerable way. The Neir track was also very good, but I really like the simplicity of the Gauntlet theme better.

The Nino track is gorgeous, but damn does the Furi track get me pumped up. I may have to play it once I'm done with Far Cry 5.

The Gauntlet track is a nice nostalgia hit, but I do love me some NieR: Automata tunes.

No "Please tell us about your nomination"? Or does that come later?

The Ni No Kuni 2 track is nice and catchy, but not my genre at all. The Furi track is my genre and sounds nice, still not something I consider the best track of all time, but my favorite out of the four tracks here. Never played Gauntlet, so don't really feel notalgic and the style is a bit too old / simple for my taste and the Nier track is calm and ambient, that's like my antigenre.

I think I'll only vote for Furi and abstain from the other vote, unless there's a tie.

Ni no Kuni 2 and Gauntlet.

8:02 would absolutely be my jam, but it ended up against some stiff competition.

Well, as far as this nom of mine goes; it's the main world theme of the game and a remix/rearrangement of the leitmotif that runs throughout both NNK games. Basically anything that has to do with the hero or their parties features the leitmotif somewhere in the song.

E: The song also sounds pretty different if you're listening via speakers or headphones, unless your speaker set up has a pretty good bass range.

8:02 and Song A!

I love Automata's soundtrack of course, and The Tower's music works MAGNIFICENTLY in the atmospheric context of the game, but as a song to listen to on its own merits, I just find I get a bit bored listening to it.

I always liked Furi's music a lot, but surprisingly I also liked the NieR track.

I'm not surprised Rebelfire nominated Furi. Good pick!

However, I'm going to have to go with Ni No Kuni and Gauntlet.

World Map Theme and Song A move on.
Bracket

First up is a track from the newest game in that series I keep meaning to get around to someday. Umby chooses the smoke-and-whiskey sounds of Beneath the Mask from Persona 5. And what is it up against, you ask? Why it's something from the remastered version of Starcraft which happens to be turning 20 (you heard that right) years old this year. Rebelfire nominates Terran 1.

Get ready to get your JRPG on, as WildcatJF chooses the upbeat With Mila's Divine Protection from Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia, while Ted chooses the tribal sounds of Song of the Plains from Breath of Fire IV.

Voting closes at 7:30 PM PST tomorrow.

That Starcraft one is super sick! I like the voice sample in the Breath of Fire track, so I’ll give it to that.
