Default Best Game Music Forever Thunderdome: Mirth of Fifth.

It's underway. Copypasting the rules:

1) There will be sixty four nominees. One nomination per tyrant. First come, first serve, yadda yadda.

2) Each nomination will face the next piece to be nominated. I urge voters to really listen to each one so that theme from obscure Japanese game X has a fair chance against Mega Man theme that everyone knows.

3) One vote per person. Voting ends 24 hours from the start of each round. You may change your vote as many times as you want within the 24 hour period, but your final vote in that period is the one that will count.

4) Each nominee must be from an actual game, and must have been composed for that game. This disqualifies everything from Brink of Time to Dragula. Exceptions are instrumental tracks that were licensed to one specific game (or generally people only remember the track from that game). Vocal tracks that meet the above criteria are also permissible, but only if they are used solely during the end credits.

5) Please post a youtube link or something with your nomination. I don't have time to search for them.

6) Have fun! [/CLICHE]

7): In case of tie In instances where the voting is tied at the end of the 24 hours, if one or the other nominators of the two tunes did not vote, their nomination will count as a vote. If both or neither of the nominators have voted, voting will be extended a half-hour at a time until the tie is broken.

Nominations are closed and cannot be changed. Now, with the voting!

First up: A mixing of modern techno and classic 8-Bit in DemoWeasel's pick: Power Plant from Bionic Commando: Rearmed

vs.

Din also picks a tune with a classic sound: Triumphal Arc, from Konami's SD Snatcher.

Voting closes at 11PM PST tomorrow.

Power Plant is my least favorite remix from Rearmed. On the other hand, Triumphal Arch is a rarely-heard Snatcher track that's awesome.

Also, bracket, bracket, bracket, bracket?

Dang, this is actually pretty tough; I really like the underlying beat in Power Plant, but I also really like the melody in Triumphal Arc. Hmm... I guess I'll flip a coin.

*flips*

Triumphal Arc it is, I guess.

I was always more of a fan of the original Bionic Commando music (Area 5 illicit a big reaction out of me). Rearmed was good though, but mostly in the fact that they were the same melodies as the original. The Snatcher track kicked ass though, so it wins my vote this round. Triumphant Snark

Arc just doesn't stand out to me, it sounds like half a dozen other forgettable themes. Meanwhile Power Plant is groovin. Biomando!

Neither of these does much for me, but of the two, Arch is triumphant.

I think that Triumphal Arch is pretty catchy as far as those two go.

Power Plant isn't my favorite track from Rearmed, but Triumphant Arc doesn't do a whole lot for me. Maybe if I actually played its game?

My vote goes to Power Plant, though I secretly wish Heat Wave were nominated instead.

Power Plant.

BCR is how you do a soundtrack in an NES remake.

Power Plant

I went back and forth a few times on this one, I think both are pretty enjoyable.

I'll give Triumphal Arc that it's pretty good, but it's not Power Plant good.

Pretty much. PP sounds like two vastly different songs mashed together, which I guess is what it is, and it just kind of doesn't click with me. Triumphal Arch isn't anything super special, but it's decent enough and has a catchy melody.
