Ok, found it, I had to look in Overview. I totally missed it.

Also now I see it was in one of the emails I got when I pledged which I also missed. Derp.

I'm a few episodes behind at this point, but I'm really digging Retronauts East, especially when Kirin on the podcast. I'd be remiss in saying that I didn't find Benj Edwards a little grating though. He is clearly a font of knowledge but he interrupts and bigfoots Parish all the time.

My initial impression is that Benj is just getting acclimated to the Retronauts podcast format versus having a private conversation with a couple friends. I definitely want to hear more from him going forward because he seems to have a familiarity with certain lesser-known hardware platforms and/or games that haven't already been discussed extensively on Retronauts.

I don't think I'd enjoy the reastronauts as much if not for Benj's regular goofy jokes, to be honest

In the most recent one he at least apologized for it

Benj is definitely still developing a sense for which rabbit holes are worth dropping down and which kill a conversation dead, but that's normal for any newcomer to the medium.

Yea I really like Benj on the podcast, he's been getting better and better each week at letting things flow while still just dropping knowledge left and right.

Again, I am several episodes back and so my thoughts are not reflective of the current state of the podcast. I'm happy he's on the show because the man has clearly forgotten (or not!) more about classic computers than I am likely to ever know.

Benj if you're on TT and I don't know it, you seem like a cool dude. Keep it up! I've been podcasting for years and I still suck.

Well geez, now I'm blushing. Thanks!

I don't think Benj is on here but he is active on twitter.

Another one with us just dropped today, where Benj finally got to play the guy who doesn't know as much about the subject while Jeremy and I nerded out about Marathon for so long that J had to being back an old episode format just to accommodate how long we went on.

Also posted some manual pics over on my retro tumblr.

I had an Apple ][c instead of an NES as a teen, so I really enjoyed the retro PC shows.

I'm guessing that $3 to the patreon winds up being way more money in the retronauts pocket per capita than whatever is coming out of these gambling and douche ads?

It was cool hearing Jeff Green break bread with those studio-hogging Retronauts bastards. Fierce rivals united at last!

In all seriousness though, I'd love to hear him on more.

I just wanted express how much I enjoyed the recent Mega Man X episode. I thought the structure was great and tended to keep the discussion focused, plus it allowed for quite a few more musical interludes than normal.

I always go Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle than Flame Mammoth. That let's you get the boots and helmet upgrade to access the Mega Buster upgrade early rather than after Zero sacrifices himself in the first Sigma stage.

The upgraded buster is great to play most of the game with as it allows you to get a lot more use out of the boss weapon's super moves.

I was also always a big fan of the rider armor in X and would spend extra time in each stage that featured it tearing up the AI riders.

At 13:50 in Episode 124 - Metroivanias beyond the NES Jeremy mentioned some kind of new shortcut discovered in SMB3 that was only found recently (in 2017), specifically a rock that is breakable with the hammer even though it seems like you can't. Any ideas what this was referring to?

Yeah, I'm curious about this too. I meant to try looking it up but got distracted and forgot. A cursory search isn't finding much.

The custom episode format with the music too brought a huge smile to my face.

I remember seeing that some time in the last year, but now I can't find it either. Huh.

Wait a minute, Chris Sims? Y'all couldn't bait a snare trap with a Slurpee to find some other fat fuck to talk about kids' movies from 30 years ago, you had to go with the one who demolished Val D'Orazio's career and well being? Shrewd.

To say the least, yeah. I knew nothing about the guy since I don't follow comics at all. I know he's not on the episodes with him, but this doesn't seem like the kind of thing that'd sit well with Bob (or, for that matter, Jeremy, who is on episodes with him). The Mary Sue article I found about him contains apologies and though they seem genuine, they came far too late and most damningly to me, were originally addressed to Val's husband. Wtf is that about?

Something endangered his rice bowl and even then he couldn't muster the sack to face the woman he spent years brigading. That's all you need to know.

Val D. can't get arrested in the comics biz and that turnip-head is all over the place, because I guess writing like Nick Rox knocked up x-entertainment somehow makes you a hot fuckin commodity.

It bugged me when he was on for the Batman episodes and I didn't want to say anything about. And you wrote this earlier, and I couldn't even muster something to the effect of "Yeah, I agree." But it stuck in the back of my mind all day, to the point where I had to get out of bed. I'm going to skip this one.

Chris Sims is a good addition to the retronauts crew. I trust Parish's judgment (and Bob's, if he had any input) on this.

Sims's behavior was undeniably shitty, but his apology seemed genuine and everything I've seen/read from him in the last half decade or so suggests someone who is trying to do better and make his community better.
