So you can get the audio book for free which all the cast that could lent their voice too. I'm just about done reading it, and it answers some questions, but opens so much more. I totally need to hear Kyle Mclahan as Cooper though. Highly recommend the book.

Major book spoiler. So one of the pages has the owl that's so famous. Well it's done in a blue/r d 3D spectrum. I thought cool put on some old 3D glasses. Sure enough 3D owl. Then as I took it off I could only see the red spectrum which turned the owl into an Alien. Uhh what the hell is going on?!

You can get both here. I highly recommend both.

Edit: More secrets found, using a black light on some pages changes things around...

If it were up to me, all teasers for all things would just be someone eating a donut.

I started reading The Secret History of Twin Peaks, which starts by weaving the shockingly true details of Meriwether Lewis' mysterious death into the mythos of the region. I should be done with it by the time the show starts.

Make sure you have a black light and a pair of 3D glasses handy! I won't spoil the big secrets but. The owls are not what they seem as they say.

RIP Miguel Ferrer aka Albert Rosenfield.

"While I admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is I'm a naysayer and hatchet-man in the fight against violence. I'll pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another, because I choose to live my life of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolute revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."

I'm glad he was able to reprise his role before the end.

Yeah, Albert is a great character and that's in no small part to how Ferrer played him.

Have only watched the first episode, and it's not what I was expecting. Will talk spoilers after I've seen more.

Default $8.99 a month? That's outrageous! *slowly pulls out credit card*

Amazon offers a 7-day trial for streaming Showtime ($8.99/month afterwards). So if you are good at cancelling trials and want to check out the first 4 episodes, it's an option.

I managed to watch two episodes and I'll check out the rest tomorrow.

I was actually going to ask about that. My Dad has a Canadian streaming service called CraveTV. I heard Twin Peaks was going to be on it. When I saw four episodes, I got a little scared and thought they only had "season 1" (as it was labeled". Then I realized there was four eps.

I will start watching tonight. Sorry, original Star Trek, I got to put you on the back burner again.

Maybe we should have made another thread for this, because like it or not, it's clearly a Different Thing.

I've only see one episode, but it was... interesting

That was about the David Lynchiest thing I could imagine David Lynch ever David Lynchifying.

Default *slowly turns head to look at Adrenaline*

I don't think we need another thread. The movie was different than the TV series, and the cable series appears to be it's own unique beast. After all they made quick use of the fact that they are on Showtime.

The AV Club review mentioned that among Lynch works this is along the lines of Inland Empire/latter half of Mulholland Drive. Did other people have that experience?

I haven't watched it yet and probably won't start until all the episodes are out so I can watch them all on a brief subscription that I'll cancel, but if so I'm even more excited for it. I'm glad Lynch doesn't feel beholden to recreate the tone of the TV show and that he has a platform to do what he wants again. It's been over a decade since Inland Empire!

I'd agree with that based on the first episode. It's more of a continuation of David Lynch's career than Twin Peaks, specifically.

A friend I watched it with did; he said it looks like Twin Peaks will basically be an 18-hour version of Inland Empire. He's all in for this season.

Not having Showtime in this situation is like being the kid outside the toy store looking in at the Red Ryder BB gun you want so bad but it'll be a cold day in hell before you get that for Christmas, young man.

I'm gonna maybe do the 30-day trial thing once there's more episodes.

After the second episode I felt like I was more in sync with the show. It's definitely... definitely made by David Lynch.

I always forget what it feels like to watch something by David Lynch. It's not what you expect when you think of surrealism, but something far more spare, direct and unsettling, dotted with moments of pure terror that scare me more than anything in any horror movie.

There are a lot of FWWM references in the first four episodes. (I am the arm, and I sound like this)
Episodes 1-2 are super tense and uncomfortable and we had to watch more.
I was cracking up at parts of Episodes 3-4. Vague Ep 3-4 spoilers:

It's not about the bunny. ... is it about the bunny? ... no.
Mr. Jackpots
THIS IS DOUGIE'S COFFEE

Whoever Dougie was, and however he got the ring, this is close enough to 'normal' that no one seems worried about him.
