When I watch TV now, it's either rapid-fire prescription drug commercials, or fast food stuff, and the pizza ones are the only appealing ones. Maybe taco bell, too, but I think that's more like lack of good mexican food options when I lived in Japan. At least, easy to find.

I think I get it, though. Japanese fast food costs more because of imports and higher quality ingredients.

It's more of a sit down place, I guess, but damn. I ate at City Barbeque last night and it's fast food BBQ that's actually really good.

See, the money they spent on this publicity stunt, couldn't they have like started a KFC college fund, or something and gotten the same amount of good publicity that way, plus done something good for the world?

Ad companies live and die by expensive campaigns. The more it costs, the more they can tack on to increase profit.

I get something there every month or two. Usually a large tortilla soup plus some chicken thighs.

I love their avacado salsa. I'll usually go inside to get more of it than the drive through will tend to give. I'll add some of it to the soup (along with some pico de gallo) and dunk the chicken in it.

Their fruit based marinade still stands out in my memory, 19 years after I sampled it.

Their jalapeno avocado sauce is amazing, and works great with the grilled chicken. Make it at home with the recipe below.

Pollo Asado is on my short list of the most delicious things in the world, and EPL does a damn good version of it in a fast food context. Yeah, I prefer the stuff you get from strip mall places wedged between liquor stores and Edward Jones, but fast food is about compromise.
