It tasted more like an above-average root beer with just a hint of butterscotch. Was tasty though. I found it at BevMo

You fellow Phoenicians better take time out to visit Rocket Burger and Soda Pop Shop one of these days. Darn good food, and over 300 bottled sodas to choose from! I sampled that Darn That's Good butterscotch root beer the other day, and agree with Shaggy's assessment. I also had a Cel-Ray Celery Soda, which was much better than I expected! More in the vein of a light ginger ale. Speaking of ginger ale, I had an awesome Raspberry Ginger Ale there as well. Didn't write down who made it though.

Today I was in the mood for dessert, so I grabbed some liquid pies.

The Pumpkin Pie Soda was alright. It had the initial taste of pumpkin, but ended too sweet. The Blueberry soda tasted just like pie, and not just super sweet pie filling, but pie that's been baked and has a bit of the crust flavor added. Weird!

Split an Ubermonster with the girlfriend, because I have to try every energy drink in the world.

It's near as makes no difference regular Monster in a glass bottle with a 250% markup.

Meanwhile, Sheetz generic energy drinks? Pretty good! The blue flavor is predominantly cream soda with a hint of blue raspberry, and tastes better than it sounds.

I went to a candy/soda store in Colorado. The walls were line with rows upon rows of sodas! Root beer, birch beer, sarsparilla! Fruit sodas, savory sodas, import sodas! My friend got a Donkey Kong's Jungle Juice energy drink! And all sorts of candy! It was kind of heavenly. I had to try very hard to resist all the sodas and walk out with only one bottle of red birch beer. IT WAS SO GOOD

Then a little later, some assholes at some asshole restaurant wouldn't accept my Japanese ID to let me buy beer (fuckin' assholes), so I got some of their home brewed root beer instead. It was delicious. I miss small-batch special-brewed root beer...

The new Batman flavored Mountain Dew? It's blue raspberry. I know better than to expect great things from Mountain Dew, but this isn't even interesting. It's just the syrup from a blue Slushee.

Batman tastes like justice.

Which apparently tastes like blue raspberry.

This is the only Mt. Dü worth getting excited about. They already have blue raspberry Mt. Dü, it's at the CVS right this very second without a Batman label. Bleh.

Just discovered a new favorite ginger beer, brand called Regatta. Most of your boutique ginger beers tend to be viciously strong. This stuff has tons of ginger flavor, but cuts out the harsh burn that you get from something like Reed's or Buffalo Rock. Very smooth. Good mixer, too, goes great with a tot of dark rum.

I had some of the blood orange the other day, and I didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I was going to. A little too heavy and sweet for me.

Maybe if I mixed it half and half with the Limonata, I'd come out with something about right.

My local Bi-Lo stopped carrying the Moon Mist flavor of Faygo*. In addition, my favorite donut place's new beverage distributor doesn't carry Jones soda! It's not fair, dammit!

The Limonata is too tart for me. I mean, it's lemon so that makes sense but I prefer the orange one. And then now there's blood orange, which is basically orange+, so that's even better. There's a grapefruit one too and it's okay (lemon is my least favorite, actually) but blood orange/orange are the way to go.

Switch to seltzer water, either plain or flavored (ie with no sweeteners).

I've found the heat has made water perhaps more desirable. I go with Nestle Pure Life for mine, and supplement it periodically with a Diet Pepsi or Diet 7UP.

Get chronic stomach pain. That cures an addiction to soda REAL fast.

I think so. I don't drink Faygo very often (because of the aforementioned stomach pains) but there are Faygo flavors designed to mimic popular brands. 60/40 is supposed to be the Faygo equivalent of Squirt, for instance. Of course, Faygo is also well known for its exclusive flavors, like Rock 'n Rye (a hybrid of creme soda and cola), and Redpop (a sharp, fizzy strawberry).

They made a Rock 'n' Rye soda pop? Wacky.

(fr. the unfamiliar: Old Mr. Boston Rock 'n' Rye is an ancient liqueur-type thing once primarily consumed by criminals and the homeless in the Northeast. Can possibly still be found on the shelves of a package store near you, but has probably not been drunk by anybody since the 70s.)

There is one soda I've always enjoyed the most, and it's a shame It's been discontinued. It was 7up plus mixed berry. Is there anything that even comes close to it?

Romano's has great soda as well. When I was in Oregon for the better part of the year, this was basically my crack. It's possibly the greatest green apple soda you will ever have. Jone's can't even compare.

Apparently, upon further reading, the Faygo Rock & Rye has nothing in common with the booze except the name. A shame.

ObSodas: A while back I had the fortune of eating at Moondoggy's Diner in Marion, North Carolina, which is the only place I've found in the South so far that carries Green River soda pop. Missed that stuff. Although the finest form of Green River is still the Green River phosphate, which I only ever found at the world-famous Bair Drug in Steilacoom, WA.
