That sounds both logical and true.

The only way it's not Mega Man is if there were too many versions of the character on people's lists splitting the vote.

The extent of Alita's humanity is a major theme of the comics, but basically what Olli said. At least some of the time. And then spoilers. Battle Angel's biotech gets a little weird, okay?

At this point I'm fairly confident Mega Man ends up not being #1 due to everyone putting him lower or leaving him off entirely because he was such a shoo-in for #1.

I'm kind of doubting my own #1 even made the list if he's not down here at the end, which is a shame, and you all need to read him. But I could be surprised.

I'm sure my number 1 will make the list, although whether that will be at #1 is questionable. I'm doubtful my number 2 got more than 51 points though and that's sad.

There are several that I am fairly sure people only voted for as a joke in the top 50.

There's only one I voted for as a joke but I will be stunned and elated if it makes it into the top 50.

ROB was an accessory built to play various games on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985. Two ROB compatible games were released; Gyromite (in which ROB picks up and puts down tops in order to help a Science Man navigate a labyrinth of traps) and Stack-Up, which... I guess is kind of like... Bingo? Maybe Concentration? I don't know, the Wikipedia article on the game is kind of hard to understand.

Despite the short legacy, ROB has managed to become a bit of a second-tier mascot for Nintendo, particularly regarding their NES days, and has made cameos in a great many titles ranging from Startropics to F-Zero to Smash Brothers. Smash Brothers Brawl offering the closest thing there's ever been to an actual characterization for Rob outside of being a Robot Operating Buddy, where he was depicted as being one of the leaders of the Subspace Army who was forced to weaponize his own people at the urging of Tabuu.

Kryten is a Series 4000 Android from the British comedy series Red Dwarf, who was programmed to take care of basic maintenance, care taking and toilet-cleaning for the Nova 5 spacecraft, which had been wrecked millions of years previously. Eventually the crew of the Red Dwarf is able to convince him to start thinking for himself and he winds up joining that, much less deceased crew. Kryten is unwaveringly polite and servile to humans, despite how they mistreat him and is terrified of being left alone again.

I did not ever watch Red Dwarf so I might be off on some of the details here, Wikipedia wasn't kind for someone just looking for a capsule summary.

Kryten was played by David Ross for his first appearance, then broken to pieces and rebuilt as actor Robert Llewellyn for the rest of the series.

Destil is a poster on the Return of Talking Time forums, and has been since July of 2007. As of this writing, he has posted 16,538 times. He is an equal mix of ghost, wizard and robot, and is thus eligible for entry on two of the three Talking Time Top 50 polls. Since finding out anything about him on Wikipedia is pretty unlikely, and he's not online right now for me to ask, I am going to just go ahead and make things up. But I don't want to get sued for libel, so they will all be aggrandizing.
  • Destil is the son to Boris and Girlena Waffles, inventors of the Waffle and heir to that fortune
  • Destil can hear magnetism
  • At three years of, Destil managed to comprise a song that, by sheer coincidence, matched the exact rhythm of White Wedding by Billy Idle.
  • The mayor has Destil on speed-dial to solve any problems that the cities police can't handle
  • Destil has a naturally high potassium level, causing some to mistake him for a human banana
  • Destil lives in the stately pleasure palace Faxanadu, along with one hundred calico cats
  • The confrontation between the Rude Hobo and Micheal Douglas in Falling Down is loosely based on the actors own experiences meeting Destil

Destil was played by James Gandolfini in the film based on the book

Metal Sonic is a recurring enemy in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, first appearing in Sonic CD, and going on to re-appear in a great many other games in the series. Outwardly, Metal Sonic resembles... well... exactly like the name says; Sonic, except made of metal. Besides being able to match Sonics speed, Metal Sonics torso contains a rocket engine, cannon and electric field generator.

He briefly took over Final Boss role in 2003s Sonic Heroes and has been relegated to being a side character ever since.

He was voiced by Ryan Drummon in Sonic Heroes and Wikipedia doesn't see fit to mention if anyone else ever handled the voice.

Mega Man X is one of the main protagonists in the Mega Man series, starring in the Mega Man X spin-off series, and showing up as a cameo appearance in later games. X was the final, greatest creation of Dr. Light, a robot that is not only far more powerful then Mega Man, but capable of the full emotional range of humans. Since Light lived in a world where evil robots had destroyed the city and took over the world on a yearly basis for a while, he decided it was only prudent to make good and damn sure that he wasn't building an incredibly destructive, highly emotional robot who would wind up being a total A-hole, so he sealed him away in a capsule and ran diagnostic and personality tests on him for a few decades (which in my headcanon, largely involved forcing him to watch After School Specials and Family Programming endlessly for years on end). This plan wound up working and X was one of the most powerful robots on Earth who very pointedly does not want to fight anything.

However, the plan also failed as another, less sensibly minded, scientist decided to copy Xs programming, but figured that people would deem it to be a slap in the face to have to wait thirty years for each robot worker, leading to the creation of Reploids; incredibly powerful machines with full personalities and who were NOT subjected to decades worth of emotional testing. Unsurprisingly, a great many of these robots wound up being dangerously unstable and so X got a job as a cop in order to blow them right to ROBOT HELL! And then feel just awful about it.

Xs fate eventually wound up being to use the last vestiges of his body and soul to act as a living prison for a doomsday weapon called the Dark Elf, (which was forked over to the first joker who thought to take it) while his evil clone proceeded to act out a genocide against the reploids.

So... umm... thanks for everything, X. You did good.

The most notable thing about Destil is that time he was the Wizard in a Mafia game and Brickroad trolled him so hard.

Damn. How did I forget about Kryten? He should have totally made my list. Since no bot on my list has been listed so far, I'm guessing they've all in the top 25, right? Maybe?

There were votes for both the T-1000 and the T-1001, but Wikipedia mentioned both in the same article and didn't indicate if there was any particular difference beyond the fact that one may not necessarily have been evil. So I threw em both a bone.
