1. Who is your favourite Star Wars character?
There are a lot of contenders, but my absolute favorite is probably Maz Kanata.

2. What is your wish, master?
I wish you free!

3. Which band needs a jukebox musical?
Kirin is absolutely right: it's gotta be TMBG.

4. What music would you seduce someone to?
Um. I'm really not a seducin' kind of guy. Pass.

5. If you were a witch, what's the first magic potion you would work on?
Well, let's see. Assuming I took the Brew Potion feat at the first opportunity, I'd be a 3rd-level witch, which would restrict me to 1st- and 2nd-level spells. So, I'd probably start with a classic: the good ol' Potion of Cure Light Wounds.

6. When is the last time you watched live TV?
Ages ago. Probably local news way back when I was home from college.

6. When is the last time you watched live TV?
1. It's a dull answer but Han Solo. Ford is just magical in the role. But a definite shout out to a lot of characters from the new movies. Finn, Rey, BB-8, Alan Tudyk-bot, another weirdo played by Benicio Del Toro. Lots of winners there.
2. To be able to come up with more interesting answers to my own questions.
3. Devo. I'm a big Devo fan and with the band representing a central theme, I feel it would be easier to do. That said, as much as I love Mark Mothersbaugh, I don't want him to write it. A lot of Devo stuff that involves acting and writing can be cringe-inducing. I just think you need a really solid satirist on this. And Neil Young proved with Human Highway, he is not that man. (No fooling, Neil Young and Dean Stockwell directed a Devo-esque movie with Devo in it. I'm pretty afraid to watch it but what little I've seen tells me "don't watch it".)
4. Childish Gambino - Me and Your Mama
5. My first instinct was to say "Friendship/Love Divination". This isn't some creeper bullshit where I try to force someone to fall in love. The potion would help me locate a high-level potential friend or love interest. But then I thought "isn't that just stalkerish? We might be right back to creepin." So, I dunno, maybe a potion that just makes me a better person. I mean, hard work is good, but it's tiring.
6. Jeez, it must have been at the local pub.

1. Abracakumquat

2. Tempted to say Motorball from Alita, except I don't actually want to live in a bleak dystopia where the contestant's lives are disposable.

3. Happiness (for myself but also for others I meet along the way)

4. This one has a blindingly obvious most popular single and a pretty obvious runner-up as well, so I'm just gonna go with In The Navy because I remember the DDR stage with it being pretty fun.

5. Long ago, but quite a lot, during undergrad in California. Plus that one summer I lived on Venice Beach and did an internship in Santa Monica, and my daily commute was rollerblading down the boardwalk. That was pretty sweet.

6. Trick question, no such thing. Every era has its stand-outs and its dreck.

5. Possibly, but I don't really remember doing so.
6. I usually call the current one the new Golden Age, but I couldn't pin down a previous one, honestly. So I guess "Right now"

  5. no
  6. 90s, which gave us Cowboy Bebop, Utena, G Gundam, Trigun, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D - just, look, the anime bubble may have burst, but it pumped out clasics like nothing else

1. Yup!
2. A pokemon one sounds good but there's also rampant animal abuse. So I'm going with the Strongest Under the Heavens (Tenkaichi Budōkai) from Dragonball. Sure, occasionally someone shows up with plans to destroy the world, but there are also cool fights.
3.Peasant's
4. Nacho Man!
5. Yep. A couple times. Didn't take.
6. For me, the forties and early 50's. But mostly because I have a strong Chuck Jones/Looney Tunes bias. And now times is pretty good but we can call it the Platinum Age or something.

Questions for Spooky Halloween Times!

1. Which fictional community of monsters would you most like to live among?
2. What's your favourite British horror film?
3. How is the trick or treating where you live?
4. Can you show me a cool Halloween cake?
5. Of these three, which is the most inherently creepy: dolls, mannequins or ventriloquist dummies?
6. What movie monster would you most like to be killed by? (don't say "none", you killjoy. This is a "best of a bad situation" situation)

1. If you were a magic user, what would be your magic words?

2. What fictional sports tournament do you wish was real?
None of them, because I'd probably immediately lose interest once it became a thing that my shitty coworkers could wear t-shirts and get loud about.

3. What is your quest?
To seek the Holy Grail, 'natch. I mean yelloooooow.

4. What's your favourite Village People song?
I do not have one.

5. Have you ever roller bladed?
Nope! I doubt it would go much better than my attempts at ice skating, which is to say badly.

6. When do you feel was the Golden Age of animation?
Honestly, it's not a subject that I feel qualified to have an opinion on, but I'll just say the 80s because nostalgia. It was certainly my personal golden age.

1. Ghosts. But specifically the ghosts from The Frighteners.
2. I think Horror Of Dracula is the only one I’ve seen, now that I think about it.
3. Ehhhhhhh
4. I can. But I choose not to.
5. Doll. No contest.
6. A Dracula; easy. They’re the only one who can kill you and still make you come out ahead in the deal.

1. Which fictional community of monsters would you most like to live among?
The Sun-tots. "But JBear, they're not monsters!" Listen, you look at these tiny immortal big-haired doofuses and tell me that you don't find them a bit upsetting:

2. What's your favourite British horror film?
I don't even think I could name one.

3. How is the trick or treating where you live?
Like, on which end? I haven't trick or treated for decades, but I consistently get about 40-50 kids every year since I've lived in my current house.

4. Can you show me a cool Halloween cake?
I cannot! Sorry-- union rules.

5. Of these three, which is the most inherently creepy: dolls, mannequins or ventriloquist dummies?
Ooo, that's a toughie. Imma say the dummies, because they're about as creepy by default but prone to having shitty racist comedians put words in their mouths.

6. What movie monster would you most like to be killed by?
Uhhh... I guess Godzilla. Or any kaiju, really. Unfathomably large, and probably over with very quickly.

Answers to the first one:

1) I don't think any ad scared me, so let's imagine Ted Bundy did a crowdfund for bail.

2) Since the mid 80s my dad used his Commodore 64's modem to dial up local bulletin boards. I believe some of those connected to the wider internet, or at least out of state servers. Dad downloaded a bunch of free applications and games through those.

3) Jan Scott Frazier

4) Hideo Kojima's all-CG movie.

5) It's losing altitude because Trump is building a very heavy castle for himself there.

6) My socialist buddies tell me health care and college.

1. The inhabitants of The Island of Doctor Moreau
2. Does Shaun of the Dead count? I think it does....
3. I hide inside with the lights off. So Poor.
4.

5. All of these are the same thing, so I'll go with Dolls
6. A Blank of myself (The Worlds End)

1. Probably the Monsters Inc. monsters, because they mostly seem cool. That said, now that they know humans aren't poison, why aren't they just telling humans they exist now?
2. The Wicker Man. Probably my favourite Christopher Lee role. Also, it's a movie where the "bad guys" are a LOT more likeable than the good guy, even if they do something horrible.
3. Well, there's non at the apartment building I live at (though I buy treats and leave them in the lobby and by the elevators on my floor), so I go to my sisters for Halloween. Even that is pretty quiet. I go full dress up and we only get about 18-22 kids. And sporadically, so it FEELS like not very many. Personally, I'm concerned for my niece since she can't have sweets. We have a teal pumpkin to show that we don't give away sweets (instead we give away toys and comics. Our most popular is always the very used Archie digests from decades past. Thanks to my local comic shop for giving me a deal to get them off of their hands.) We can only locate a couple spaces in town that also have teal pumpkins. It would be nice to set up a group so Eva can have fun and collect all kinds of fun stuff and enjoy Halloween to the fullest.
4. For BEAT

5. Dolls are creepy to me. I used to be terrified of Chucky. So much. But I grew up and saw the movies and the character is not only not scary, but is also needlessly complicated. Maybe just make it an evil doll instead of a serial killer who learned voodoo and is always trying to do a parent trap scenario with a young kid. I guess saying it isn't much more complicated than your Jasons or Freddies, but I dunno, it feels like it's too busy for me. Anyway, even though the movies and character aren't scary, there's a part in my lizard brain that gets his guard up when about to see chucky. Especially classic look Chucky. He's actually far less scary when he got the scars.
6. I think Octo has the best answer. That said, being replaced by a pod person seems like a very peaceful way to go or maybe having sex with a bee girl from Invasion of the Bee Girls.

1. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
2. What would be a good modern take on the comic book hero The Phantom?
3. Who is your favourite Egyptian God?

1. Unicron
2. I had an answer, but then I realized I was just describing Black Panther entirely, and without embellishment. Well... purple instead of black, but otherwise.
3. Easy answer, but Anubis just looks cool, y’know? Dude had a real knowledge of how to build a brand.
4. Given how frequently I startle people by unintentionally sneaking up on them, I must be.
5. State of the art detention rooms where children are held in place with magnets. Or pay teachers more. Whichever is cheaper.
6. Yes, but it was because they had an excess and were polite.

1. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
Women.

2. What would be a good modern take on the comic book hero The Phantom?
I don't know who or what that is, so I'm just going to say this guy:

3. Who is your favourite Egyptian God?
Ra, I guess? The Sun seems pretty important.

4. Are you good at hide and seek?
I mean, it's been a long time since I had the opportunity to put this to the test, but I'm going to say no, since I have a difficult time controlling my breathing when I'm nervous. Also, I am, shall we say, not exactly adept at squeezing into small spaces.

5. What can we do for our schools?
Vote for politicians/parties that prioritize both education spending and advocate important educational programs.

6. Did anyone give you candy this Halloween season?
Yes, there was a chocolate coin waiting at my office desk on the day of. Do I need to give them chocolate back next month on WhiteBlack Day now? This dumb holiday is too confusing.

1. Men, maybe? Like, introspective ones.
2. Mostly what Octo said. I'm pretty sure having a white Phantom seems pretty old-fashioned colonialist. I mean, he doesn't have to lead a whole country, but a dude dedicated to fighting poisonous outside forces (let's face it, we're talking about whitey) and keeping on a long legacy still has some Black Panther stuff in there. I'm not sure who I would want to write it but art by Brian Stelfreeze would be good.
3. Boring answer, but Anubis is cool.
4. Maybe, but I feel like that in recent years I've mostly been playing with toddlers, so I might have an advantage.
5. What JBear said. Also, keep an eye on just what is being taught and keep abreast of where we get our materials. I'm sort of thinking about how many books that got approved with a clear agenda to rewrite history.
6. I was offered some and I'm amazed I didn't take it. But this year, I left out some candy for other apartment dwellers and someone threw some suckers in there, so I had one of those.

2. World of Final Fantasy, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Soul Calibur 6. Depending on what time of day it is.
3. No.
4. It’s the most relaxing and cathartic form of hard work.
5. Honestly can’t think of one off the top of my head. The one with all the nonsense words, I guess.

1. I bought a bunch of craft beer last week? (This is a weirdly phrased question. I also bought a model kit a couple months ago.)

2. Pokemon Go. And a bit of Pokemon Shuffle. It's been a weird year and I've barely fit in any other games.

3. Eh, sure why not. Then we can do it in German and French, and then the kana!

4. Unfortunately. As infrequently as I can get away with. I guess I should do it one more time before it snows or something...

5. I really don't know those songs, looking up a list of titles isn't even helping.

6. I kind of hate eating way too much of even most things I like. Hmm. Maybe this chocolate pretzel bark...

1. When's the last time you bought a craft?
I bought the last Starcraft II expansion when it came out in 2015.

2. What games have you been playing lately?
Splatoon 2 on Switch, and Quadrilateral Cowboy on PC.

3. Now, I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me?
Sure! I love letters!

4. Do you mow the lawn?
Nope. One of my favorite parts of apartment living is not having to do yard work.

5. What is your favourite song from Grease?
My wife and I bond sometimes over our shared dislike of that musical. None of the above.

6. If you were to enter an eating contest, which food would you consume?
Tortilla chips with salsa or guacamole. One of the deepest parts of my personal programming is
Code:
while chips_nearby == 1
   eat chips

1. When's the last time you bought a craft?
Friday! It's a Christmas gift.

2. What games have you been playing lately?
Undertale! I'm also still plugging away at Elminage Original, and I think I'm nearing the end.

3. Now, I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me?
No, because that extra comma implies that you'll take awkward pauses when you're singing and I don't work with amateurs.

4. Do you mow the lawn?
Yes, and I hate it. Podcasts help.

5. What is your favourite song from Grease?
[insert usual stock music question response here]

6. If you were to enter an eating contest, which food would you consume?
Huh, that's... an interesting question. Presumably the implication is that I should try and select a food that I think would allow me to be competitive? I'm also calorie counting, though, so I'll go with cucumbers, which I love and can consume in massive quantities, but are also low-calorie. I'd put on a lot of water weight in the short-term, but that's fine.

1. I feel like it's been a long time since I bought some sort of home made craft. Oh, I got a comic book bookmark from an anime convention 2 years ago. And a sandwich bag.
2. Darkwood. Finally getting into the groove of it after getting my butt seriously kicked by it.
3. As long as it's the Jackson 5 version.
4. Only when I visit my parents cottage. I like it. Meditative.
5. Not a big fan of Grease. But I kind of like the opening theme from the movie.
6. Ooo, popcorn and cucumber are good answers. I will probably go with Jell-o, though.
