Thanks, I'll keep it in mind! Yeah, I got the tracers right after Arty.

I've been sticking with the Uchigatana (now +15) throughout this run, but I'm wondering if it ever outlives its usefulness in NG+. Perhaps not, if it continues to scale with dex as far as I go...

(Previously that amount would have taken at least 5 runs.)
Being human itself has no effect, but having soft humanity (the counter in the top left) does. Each soft humanity increases your item find by a significant amount, up to 10 humanity, at which point it maxes out.

Ah, thanks - in that case the effect must have been caused by a solitary soft humanity and the covetous ring. What a difference! I've been dying frequently enough never to have a decent store of soft humanity (and rarely have more than one or two 'hard' humanities on me - I've had the feeling I must be missing some of those, too), so this was the very first time I'd seen that item drops from enemies aren't necessarily rare.

The Remaster is out! It looks better on PC than Prepare to Die with DSFix did, so that's nice. It's only 20 bucks if you own PtD, which I'm sure most people do because it was on sale on Steam for like 2 cents approx. a billion times. This game is still incredible. Thank you for your time.

Also, this is the better version of that mash up because it involves shitty texture packs:

I'm thinking about picking up Dark Souls Remastered and giving it the college try. Once again.

Someone stop me.

Maybe I should download Bloodborne first since I have that in my PSN library, thank you PS Plus.

I think I’m gonna wait for the Switch version. I hope some new people end up playing it!

Bloodborne is free! If you conquer or at least click with Bloodborne, then you should have no real trouble with DSM and will thus have a better chance that your money will be well spent!

I bought Remastered on PS4 but now I'm not sure that was a great choice since I don't have Plus. My rationale was that I already Platinumed DS1 on the PS3 so if I do it again it should be on the PS4.

If you don't want to commit to a full three months or a year right away, you can just pay $10 for a month of PlayStation Plus. PSN bux can be used to buy said subscription too.

This game kicks so much ass. I'm running Thief Build™ again (Bandit Knife/Dagger/elemental Daggers only) since I never finished it the first time and it's pretty fun. I was struggling early on and I couldn't understand why, and then I remembered how backstabs work in this game and now everyone is dead. The entire game has died. I wish they'd bring back DS1 backstabs...they're so good...

The offline Souls experience is still fun, IMO, though I understand if the messages, invading, and ghosts are a key part of the experience. But personally I found that it added to the feeling of dread and isolation.

That said, if I still don't have Plus for this remaster, I'm going to actually have to learn how to fight O&S.

I played the game on PS3 for a handful of hours. I went in blind, knowing nothing about the game, and I just muddled through it, trying to learn the mechanics and the combat and the general gameplay. After many attempts, I finally managed to defeat the Bell Gargoyles. I discovered Blighttown at some point shortly thereafter and it pushed my stress level so far over the line I had to stop playing. I haven't played the game since and that was years ago.

So apparently the original Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition on Steam now immediately crashes on launch if you try to unlock the framerate via DSfix.

This seems like a deliberate move to force players who want a better framerate to pony up for the Remastered version. So that kinda sucks.

edit: Never mind, I fixed it by disabling Data Execution Prevention via the Windows System menu. Derp.

Since I can still run immediately to get the Gravelord Sword and slam Pinwheel, this remaster is still certifiably Dark Souls.

I didn't get very far into the first Dark Souls on PS3 until well after its heyday. Seeing the number of summon signs scattered everywhere is taking some getting used to.
