Oh man, that's cool, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it other than play Faselei!

Okay, so something interesting happened upon playing my old Skyrim file for the first time in like three months and heading to Falkreath.

First, I meet this guy who wants me to give him ward lessons in the middle of town. I oblige, then when he starts shooting fireballs at me, my companion J'zargo starts screaming that he's being attacked and starts firing lightning at the kid. Lightning that doesn't hit him 'cuz of my ward, but still...After the guy stops his fireball barrage and claims he realized what he was doing wrong, he gets in a fight with a guard and is killed immediately. Oops.

Next, I head on over to Dead Man's Drink to rent a bed for the night. It's getting late, so I decided I'd sleep now and go see the Jarl in the morning. Talsgar the Wanderer, a friendly NPC who is often seen out and about, attacks me for absolutely no reason. J'zargo fries him as I stand about bewildered, wondering what this Nord bard's frickin' problem is. Maybe he was friends with that wannabe mage that J'zargo indirectly got killed?

I pull out my paralyzing sword and help J'zargo butcher the crazy man. We get a good night's sleep at the inn, Talsgar's corpse rotting in the foyer the whole time.

The next morning, we go to visit the Jarl.

Helvard, Jarl Siddgeir's housecarl, attacks J'zargo upon looking up from the enchanting table and realizing he's there. Maybe Talsgar was his friend; maybe the random student he provoked a guard into killing was his son. I stay out of it and J'zargo fries the guy to death with his Force Lightning. 'Cuz J'zargo levels up forever and Helvard doesn't have immortality like so many other housecarls do because he is on the Dark Brotherhood's shit list.

I...I think I'm just gonna start a new file again.

EDIT: I did start a new file again and I entered Riverwood to find Faendal dead.

Clearly my copy of Skyrim is cursed. That, or a patch to support new Creation Club content broke the game (more).

Even with the unofficial patch, Skyrim is extremely buggy. I once discovered that an NPC who never leaves the safety of her shop in Solitude had been killed while I wasn't in, or even near, the area. I also once got a 1000 gold bounty in a hold I had never visited.

All copies of Skyrim are cursed.

Yep. Movement tends to be especially wonky because of the way pathing is handled, so while backwards dragons aren't a thing anymore, you do run into NPCs and mobs hitting odd collision issues and then teleporting twenty feet away behind you to get around it. There's all kinds of little things like that.

I think my favorite is the human hostile npcs (bandits/etc) who will sit at the edge of ramps leading up and glaring at you as you rain arrows/magic on them.

This has both Blaster Master and Bionic Commando vibes.

It also reminds me that while I'd played all of Tribute's games prior, I still haven't played Flinthook. I should probably do that.

My guess for the Faendal thing is that the pathing A.I. placed him in the sky and dropped him way down to the ground to his death. I've had this happen with deer, mammoths, and anonymous guards before, but this is the first time I've had it happen with a named NPC.

The three videos above it were from a file where I was already in the 30s, maybe 40s level-wise, so bugs had most likely built up over time on that one. Previous adventures had J'zargo and the late Meeko* fighting each other like cats and dogs after stupidly walking into traps in a Draugr crypt, and I quit that file (and the game) for said three months after J'zargo stubbed his toe on a boulder one too many times and blamed me for it, then left my services, put a bounty on my head, and tried to kill me in that order.

Reloaded from that to realize my last save was like half an hour ago and I was like "Screw that, I need a break." Anyway, after this combined Voltron of bugs, I think I'm just gonna stick with what I'd been doing for now: playing Morrowind instead. I've really been enjoying plugging away at it.

* I didn't kill my doggo intentionally though, I just cast a Calm spell on him and made him go away for a while. No, he got killed accidentally during a rough fight I wasn't about to reload and do over.

Faendal works at the mill and lumber mills can potentially launch characters into orbit with the right conditions, so he may have fallen victim to that.

Yeah, the lumber mill in motion is basically a set of animation rigs linked to follow right after each other with some physics interactions, which leads to what Havok does best...launching things into orbit.

This is the first I’ve ever heard of this game, but I already love the fact that it ran on almost literally two PC-Engines duct taped together.

So, uh, it looks like the Epic Game Store client is set up to snoop your computer without warning or asking for permission, in particular looking for various Steam files (friends, cloud saves, etc) and computer setup info.

(this violates the EU's GDPR laws, most likely in addition to others in other places around the world most likely)

The stated explanation is that it's there for exporting your steam friends list. The problem is that you can already do that super easily via pulling from the free/publicly available Steam API, but that also requires opt-in/approval on the end-user's part. And most of what it's scanning for has nothing to do with your friends list.

Epic's response to that was that they didn't want to include the Steam API in their codebase, but you don't have to include the whole API to do that...just the particular calls into the import function(s) since the Steam servers have that data.

For anyone who's interested, it looks like Crackdown and Crackdown 2 are currently free to download on Xbox Live. This doesn't appear to be part of the Games With Gold promotion, so I'm not sure how long they're going to be available. I'd assume you do have to have Gold, though. They're also backward-compatible on Xbox One.
