According to Eurogamer, it sits somewhere between the last gen version and the current-gen one, prioritizing frame rate primarily through adaptive resolution, and is a very good port.

New sales on the (American) Nintendo e-shop. I think this is the first time Iíve seen Mario Kart 8 on sale there and I bought it. (often on the Japanese e-shop, but Iíve never bothered setting up a Japanese paypal account or whatever you need to do) Almost tempted to buy Splatoon 2. Mario + Rabbids bundle is heavily discounted, too. Have never played a musou game... is now the time to get Hyrule Warriors? (no) Not tempted by Octopath Traveler but that was apparently a hot game so have at it.

Just scrolled down the Great Deals tab on the eshop... why are there so many more horny games for (straight) women than (straight) men? I will attribute some (all?) of this to: they are not pornographic, so they can be sold there. Is it all just one company? I looked at two of the games and they were by different companies, but maybe that was a fluke. Just an auspicious time of year to sell them? Hmm.

Found out Splatoon 2 has an app you can look at for when you donít have your Switch handy, so I think Iíll pass.

The physical Switch version of Starlink, with the starter pack of ships, is now between $25-30 at most retailers it seems. Noticed it at Target last night, thought it might have been a special sale, but checked online and it seems to be everywhere.

Very much so, loved it start to finish!

That being said, that much of a price drop that soon after release doesnít bode hat well for a sequel.

I'd argue being a toy-to-life didn't bode well for a sequel in the first place. Browsing online I see non-Switch versions are even cheaper (14.99Ä brand new starter pack for PS4 in Amazon!) while add-on ships are still a bit pricey (14 ~20Ä).

I am trying to rein in my videogame expenses, but I'm so tempted to grab the Switch version and then hit the goodwills around looking for cheap ships....

If you wanted to get a Playstation Classic for cheap but missed out earlier, it's available for $32 right now.

Made out like a frickin' bandit during this current E.A. sale on PS4. Got the Battlefront II Hoth bundle, The Sims 4: Deluxe Party Edition,* and Unravel two, and I still have like $2.50 of my $25 of PSN Munny left if I want to get a cheap indie or something.

Electronic Arts may be an evil corporation, but they always have some killer deals in their sales.

* If I like it enough that I want DLC, I'll buy it the next time E.A. has a sale and I have munny to blow on said sale. Like, I want Cats & Dogs, but I don't $40 want it.

Romancing Saga 2 dropped 50% on the eshop. If you've been waiting for a sale to snag it, like I have, this is your chance!

Tacoma is free free FREE on the Humble Store right now. I've been considering checking it out for quite some time, so that's pretty cool for me!

Suburbia is free on Google Play today.

It's the app form of the city-building board game.

So I picked it up, but there doesn't seem to be a tutorial. Is there any place online where I can get a crash course in how to play?

Oh, whoops. The rules are available on BGG, though you'll probably need to be logged in to get them. I don't see them in print on the publisher's website, but they do have a video tutorial.

GOG is having their spring sale, so probably worth a look. Hoping a few titles on my wishlist come up, especially before first-person dungeon month over at Hardcore Retro Gaming.

Just glanced at GOG and noticed that they're selling Diablo on their site. Gotta admit that I'm surprised that you can buy it somewhere other than Blizzard's site.

I posted that everywhere when they announced it!

And it is the only place you can buy it! Blizzard didn't want to go through the trouble of rewriting the entire backend of the Diablo to get it to work with Battle.net.

PSN is having a spring sale, too. 'Tis how I got LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens* and all of its DLC. Might get one of the other LEGO games while I'm at it; eyeing both the Harry Potter bundle and Jurassic World. The Elite: Dangerous bundle and Thimbleweed Park are also on my radar as possible buys.

But I'm in no big rush; gonna enjoy the Star Wars games I bought recently, maybe see about learning The Sims 4 or starting Unravel two.

* Speaking of, I'll be putting up some animated GIFs soon since that's a thing I can easily do with LEGO Star Wars on my PS4. Keep hoping The Complete Saga (which I'm playing on Android) and The Clone Wars will get a remastered bundle like Harry Potter did.

OK, now that I've refreshed myself on the game (and now that it's no longer free), here's a quick rundown.

There are four resources to manage in the game:
  • Cash ($) is obvious. All tiles have a money cost, and if you buy tiles further to the left, that cost is increased by the amount indicated.
  • Income (white circle) is how much cash you get each turn. It is bounded from -5 to 15. If you would go past that, the excess is wasted.
  • Population (person icon) is your score. The population track has red bars on it: one at 15, then with increasing frequency as you go up. More on those red bars in a bit.
  • Reputation (black square) is how much population you get each turn.

Each time you pass a red bar on the population track, your income and reputation go down by 1. This can happen multiple times in a single turn. If you go backwards across a red bar, your income and reputation go up by 1.

In addition to purchasing a tile and playing it normally, you can flip the tile and play it as a lake. Lakes have a base cost of $0 (but that's still modified by the position on the track), and they give you money for each adjacent non-lake tile.

In the solo game, the two rightmost tiles on the track are discarded at the end of each turn. The game ends when there are no more tiles in the supply.

Note that there are "market tiles" above the track that you can purchase. You can't turn them into lakes, and they're generally inferior to the regular tiles, but they're especially important in solo because purchasing them advances the track more slowly.

The solo campaign in this game is really good. Instead of just maximizing your population, it has a bunch of scenarios where you need to raise one parameter while keeping another low, which can be really tricky. I haven't tried the regular game in the app yet.
