If anything makes me finally stop bluffing about bringing my Switch to work, it'll be this game. It's just a joy to be able to wander around and explore without any stress or worries, and with a conflict resolution system that doesn't involve cutting people apart or setting them on fire. The dozens of little side activities also do an amazing job of preparing you for the full competitions, which themselves work really well as boss battles like they are instead of being more constant.

I think it's also worth mentioning that a couple of my friends came over yesterday and for a while we just played this. We were laughing at almost every line of dialog and cheering and groaning at my skill at golfing and just constantly getting absorbed in the game. I mean, Sidebar has made a game about golf that's even entertaining for other people to watch; that's no small achievement.

Ok, so these are the same guys I used to play Pangya with multiple times a week so we're not strangers to group video golfing, but I think the point stands.

I have already opened this particular Pandora's box. I resisted the urge today, though!

I'm at Tidy Park. Pip pip.

I love the fact that they just throw somerules over the context that its a kind gentleman's etiquette.

That's where I was, but then I was having trouble finding the 4th of the 4 old club sets that they wanted (make sure to check out the different names on the vintage irons when you're playing with them; they are all *chefkiss*) and thought that maybe I'd get them at the next area instead, which I had a bread-crumb quest sending me to, but now I've been there a couple of hours and that's seeming increasingly unlikely.

Oh, and that newspaper-reading jerk who redesigns the courses can kiss my ass, as his challenge in the 6th area (Halloween land, whatever it's called) is easily the hardest thing in the game so far. Lost about an hour to it before I finally picked up that extra stroke I needed. He says that he's heading to Tidy Park next and I hope they turn him away at the gate.

Anyway, none of that is as important as this: if you are at Tidy Park, that means that Galf is accessible. Have you found Galf? You should really find Galf. It is my favourite thing in a game crammed full of great things. For anyone who has found it: my current Galf record is -4, with an Eagle and two "Bird"s, which I am ridiculously proud of.

I just got to that quest. apparently you can also succeed if you just...make the hole

You have to be in a match. Can't focus during a quest, apparently

Hint: Do you see anything else around that might suffice as a substitute? Some kind of red fabric?

Solution: There's a hole near the middle of the area with a red flag on it. Just huck a couple of golf balls at the pole and it will flutter to the ground.

I have no idea what you mean by this, or even how you could know for certain which quest I am referring to. The quest I am referencing 100% requires an approach shot with your putter. Even with a max power shot you can barely get half-way to the pin otherwise.

Oh, yes, I did the approach shot. I was just noting the hilarity in that you could, instead of getting the ball to stop in the yellow circle, you could just have it land in the hole, even though it's inside the blue circle.

After my third try, here's my hole-by-hole score:

+3 (rip)
-2 Eagle

-1 Bird

Total: -4

Heh, I had this same problem for a sec. Just hit + and you should get a pop-up to quit. You might not be able to do it from the title screen, though?

Oh.

You have to be in the game. Doesn't work from the title screen.

I just played the full Tidy Park course for the first time and after starting with a hole-in-one on the first hole (also my first hole-in-one!), I went on to score a -11. Get fucked, Tidy Park!

On my first attempt at this, I wasn't paying close attention and wound up hole-in-one-ing my opening shot into the wrong hole. The result: a hard crash to the Switch home screen. The whole sequence was so bizarre that I just laughed.

I actually did this too, but it just marked the quest as a failure and booted me out. I was steamed too, since that had been a good run.

I have had this game freeze on me three times now, though, so I can see the stability complaint that someone had earlier. Fortunately, it autosaves frequently, so it hasn't been a big deal.
