I feel a Keanu Reeves "whoa" is in order, here. Star Fox 2? YOSHI'S ISLAND? I mean, I have the latter, but dang, that's awesome. The only thing that's missing is Chrono Trigger, but even Final Fantasy III is one heck of a consolation prize.

Now if only they'd put these collections on Switch. I would almost certainly buy them there.

Two controllers are included in the box. Thank god, because getting an extra NES controller was even harder than getting the console.

But also look at this Two Player list:

Mario Kart
F-Zero
Street Fighter II
Donkey Kong Country
Kirby Super Star
Final Fantasy III
Kirby's Dream Course
Contra III
Secret of Mana

SMART!!!

Monkey's paw: the controllers' cables are five inches long.

The power cord is 3.

Chrono Trigger and Actraiser are glaring omissions but looking at the list it's hard to complain too much. May get one of these for my nephews, assuming they make more than seventeen of them.

Pretty close to definitive. I'd like to see:

Mega Man X2
Mega Man X3
Cybernator
R-Type III
Super Bomberman Something
Chrono Trigger

But, I mean, I already own all of those, I guess.

I never got the love for the SFC/European versions of the SNES. I love the NA version, purple and boxy and all. Can't help it!

The four colors on the face button is just such a better design choice than the solid purples on the SNES. Makes it so much easier to say "press the blue one" to a new player.

I'll grant you that, I suppose, but concave > convex

I am willing to bet that considering that this is widely speculated to be one of the reasons the NES Mini was canned, it will at least be significantly more difficult this time.

I am going to set an alarm on my phone. Every single day, check and see if pre-orders are available.

I agree with everything you guys are saying. Just one addition: If Nintendo wanted to include games that are not just good but also historically significant they should include Mortal Kombat II. But they'd never include an M rated game in a set like this, probably for plenty of good reasons.

I really hope Nintendo isn't completely fucking stupid with distribution of this, 'cuz Super FX games? Beloved SNES titles stubborn ol' head-up-ass Square Enix couldn't be arsed to release the Wii U versions* of? STAR FOX 2?!

I don't mind not getting the NES Classic all that much, but if I can't get an SNES Classic without scalpers I may have to nuke Nintendo off the face of the planet. I'm sorry, but it's for their own good. But really, I'd just bitch online.

* Coincidentally, today's the fourth anniversary of Japan's exclusive Wii U releases of Final Fantasy VI and Seiken Densetsu 2. Bastards.

But the SNES localization of Final Fantasy IV dumbed down the items and made Dk Cecil and Yang suck. =(

Same rule as the NES Classic: if I can visit the online shop of my choice and purchase one at my leisure, then I absolutely will. If I cannot, that $80 will likely be spent on Steam while I continue to enjoy these games for free on my PC. Right or wrong, that's the reality of it, so I hope they've learned their lessons.

I kinda get it though. With all the content cuts made to FF4 for the NA version, FF6 is the better choice.

Also I already own the FF2(4) cart, so this is better for meeeeee

To each their own, but games like Star Fox 1/2 and Yoshi's Island are gonna be tough to emulate properly!

No official pre-orders, but you best believe scum scalpers on ebay are already trying to sell their shit.

Same. Honestly, it probably runs better emulated than on real hardware.

I could have bought a NES Mini and didn't because I was waiting for my next paycheck. I never regretted not buying it, though... But this? With Yoshi's Island and StarFox? And the possibility to get Ms. Brain to play some sweet, sweet SoM with me? I'm getting this as soon as I can, and woe whomever stands between me and the cash registry.

"Running better" is different from "emulating properly" it is in fact a sign of not emulating properly, if ever so slightly. If you're a purist it can be irritating that something is running too fast, and in some games it causes actual problems.

Is there a different list for the Japanese version again (I seem to recall they tweaked it a bit last time)?

Wait, is there a Japanese version?
