I will play this game.

It's weird to me how I find myself liking Resident Evil now.

Resident Evil 5 is ok and stuff. But I miss the scary. RE4 had the scary and the creepy atmosphere in spots. RE5 did not. Also the controls need to be changed STAT.

As far as I'm concerned, Dead Space was the new Resident Evil. Although only for one game, because the sequel was an action-fest. At least the controls are better.

I love Dead Space. Resident Evil 4 is also one of my favorite games. Hmm....if we combined the two.....

I keep hoping that chick isn't Ashley and its actually Sherry Birkin as she completely disappeared after re2 with the only mention being in the wesker report saying he was keeping a watchful eye on her. It would lend even more credence to the 3rd guy being related to Wesker as he could of been the guy Wesker had watching her.

Indeed.

The country may never recover from the "4 / / Itchy Tasty" Bill.

Leon's cool, but the real star of RE4 was the inventory system. I would have no reservations if they brought back the attache case.

The HARRMAN RANGZ act was solid when it was first drafted, but all those damn riders went and screwed everything up.

This is what I'm waiting to hear about. I wouldn't mind the partner stuff anywhere near as much if they didn't compromise single player design for it like they did in RE5, allowing you to have the attache case and just make it pause for single player/real time for co-op with bindable shortcuts would be perfect. And not segment the game so damn much.

Dead Space is the real RE5, but still. I'm surprisingly pumped for this. I played the hell out of RE5 despite itself and RE4 is one of the best ever. Revelations was received well, so...I dunno! Maybe RE is making a come back? Even though it never really left...

Hopefully it just stumbled for a bit and nothing more. Which seems inevitable really when a good chunk of the creative force up and leaves the series.

To a previous post, RE5 had shooting enemies and cover at the end already.

Anyway, I loved RE4 to death, I played it on the cube, the horrible PC port and then in it's golden form on the Wii. I will continue to replay it as time goes by, I'm sure.

I was less entranced with RE5 when it came out. I initially had it for PS3 and later picked up the PC port. The addition of mouse control brought back some of what I liked in the RE4 Wii port, but all in all, it did suffer from the limitations mentioned above, the segmentation and the shoddy inventory, all seemingly concessions to the coop design.

However, I did get the chance to play clear through RE5 in stable coop with a friend and when you played it the way the creators intended, it was really a ton of fun. I just wish the SP didn't have to be neutered for that to happen. And as I get older and the game gets older, I'm less likely to find someone willing to sit down and play with me again.

So, all that behind, I'm excited about 6 as much as I was excited about 5 and hopefully won't be quite as let down as 5 did for me initially.

RE5 became better once the Move controls were implemented.

lol @ Resident Evil Srs Story.

But I'll be keeping an eye on this. After the many disappointments of RE5 I'll be cautious but it's not like RE5 was terrible or anything. Just a weak shadow of its predecessor.

I'm getting kind of annoyed though with the series' apparent complete abandonment of solid, playable female characters. Sure you could play as Sheva in RE5 but only after you'd beaten the game once. In most of the original series the female characters were always a fully viable (and often preferable) option to play as from the start, now they're always reduced to bonus characters with shortened campaigns and unlockables.

I'd love a return to form where you start the game, and choose either the guy or the girl character and play through the entire game as them, with the story changing when and where appropriate. Sometimes drastically so. It adds great replay value!

I could also do without just about everything I saw in Chris's segments of the trailer. I had my fill of him in RE5, and I already have Gears of War for my ACTION! COVER! gameplay. I want some good ol' Leon-style "Lone agent in over his head and amazingly non-frustrating escort sequences". And ridiculous insanity, of course. Where the fuck is Claire? I'd love to see them paired up again. Their rapport in RE2 was pretty great. Then Code Veronica came along and she was all "ONEE CHAAAAN!" towards Chris and they shoved her in the kitchen or something ever since.

Is that really Ashley running around with the shaved-head dude who has that super familiar-sounding voice where I can't figure out where I've heard it before?

Because if it is it appears she's had her ballistics disarmed.

Troy Baker. He played Vincent in Catherine, Kanji in Persona 4, Snow in FFXIII.

It SOUNDS a lot like Ashley. She's blond and she looks fairly similar. Someone needs to start screen shotting this thing.

Also, the guy is Troy Baker. You may remember him from...a ton of stuff.

Kanji from P4
Snow from FF13
Vincent from Katherine
And coming up: Booker DeWitt from Bioshock Infinite and Joel from The Last of Us

And if you like the animoos he was Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

He's been in tons of stuff.

Edit:

I forgot to mention that one of the Youtube comments for the RE6 trailer was

PRESIDENT EVIL

Which made me laugh. Just thought I'd share.

It's a joke I've heard before; hearing someone mention "Mister President" made me laugh during the trailer.

Was I misreading 1UP's post about the trailer then, when I thought that the girl with Leon (rather than the blonde with the new guy) is Ashley? And apparently has the same voice actress?

Definitely it'd be better if we could get Ms Birkin in on things as well, so I'm hoping that's who new guy's ladyfriend is.

Chris seems pretty pissed off at some kinda lady, and Sherry's got all kind of G-Virus wizwang+a potential grudge (being abandoned by Leon+Claire) plus there were Weskerteers sniffing around her. She seems primed for a heel turn if you ask me.

Meanwhile, Ashley becoming another hardcore action dude's arm candy seems pretty in character.

I looked him up and, yeah, while I guess I'd probably remember him as Snow (I hate that game though so I make concerted efforts to push it from my memory) almost everything else he's been in is not known to me.

He has however been in Arkham City which I just played, but as Two-Face and Robin, the first of whom is pretty growly and the other has like two lines. He's also one of the male voices in Saints Row 3 and I think that's probably where I'm getting it. Though I didn't use that voice in my playthrough it was the one most commonly used in preview videos and I watched a lot of those.

I hate Capcom for making me interested in this game. I really thought I was done with this series when I couldn't finish RE5.

I am also surprised seeing the love Leon is getting in this thread.

I enjoyed RE5 co-op, but it's not nearly as good as RE4. Except for Mercenaries, where it was slightly better.

Me too! I admit that I was disappointed with RE5 since it didn't live up to impossibly high standard of RE4, but I still had fun with it. I gave Sheva a handgun and a crapton of healing items, so she was basically a mobile healing station. It worked surprisingly well!

I'm definitely on board with RE6, especially if it gives me an excuse to have another insane co-op adventure.

I enjoyed RE5 but the inventory system was straight up balls.
