Also the whole 3/4 HD method is fine with me, but first level you get your full HD.

You can probably tell I'm not putting that much thought into all the number muncher stuff.

Is there a limit to how much of our starting gold we can use on any one item or should I just use the rules' guidelines?

I was worried the whole "Lucas plays S&M-themed female characters" thing might have been beginning to pall, so I was thinking of some other possible backgrounds. If you're cool with it though, I suppose I am too!

Anything I should know about that all-female monastic order for my background? Any secret languages or being in a non-temperate climate so I might want to dress warm, things like that?

I would have thought skeletons had piercing resistance rather than bludgeoning resistance. Weird!

Edit: Huh, the guidelines on how advanced characters should spend their starting gold don't apply so well to unarmed monks. That's totally justification for taking a Ring of Protection +1 despite it costing a third of my starting gold, yup.

Yes. DR lists what ignores it, not what it protects against.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

I think I'm going to say no magic items above +1. Trade of magic items pretty much only exists on the black market and anything above a +1 is pretty unheard of unless you know somebody. But I'm okay with you guys starting with minor magical stuff, it can be assumed that they're family heirlooms, gifts from friends/mentors or stuff you found adventuring.

The Sword Sisters are a militant monastic order dedicated to perfection in the art of the sword. They're based in Sacia, the Republic Capital and are sworn to defend the Republic from all evil and to be a strong, virtuous moral example for all others to look up to. Most are trained from childhood in swordplay and martial arts, and upon reaching adulthood they take certain vows to exclude other worldly desires from their lives in pursuit of becoming more perfect warriors. Most, but not all, take vows of chastity and occasionally they take vows of poverty or even solitude in pursuit of their art.

You might have been trained in this order growing up, though if your character is evil you've likely gone your own way since then and they may not look fondly upon you.

There are two climates in Encerai; cold and fucking cold.

I... yes. I knew that. I've played Pathfinder/DND3.5 before, I swear!

I'd like to play, but as I told Solitayre, I can't guarantee I'll have days off.

I'd like to be a backup player, in case someone else goes down.

If you want to make a character and just play on the days you have available it would be no problem to try to accommodate. I'll try to have contingencies in place for when someone can't show up anyway.

You guys didn't think I'd be passing this shit up, did you?

Cause I'm not.

Now brb while I sleep and then look up Pathfinder rules and how they differ from D&D 3.5 and what sort of things I need to do to character create, and then figure out what kind of monstrosity I'm going to subject you guys to.

And keep in mind: I was GIVEN Vincent. You guys haven't seen me make a character yet... muhuhaha

EDIT: IT IS DONE! MWAHAHAHAHA! BEHOLD MY RIGHTEOUS FURY!

I notice you have 'Flaming Sphere' and 'Web.'

I'm going to assume this was no coincidence.

You assume correctly.

My plan was to take a spell from every school, so I'd have options for counterspelling. But I only got two 2nd-level spells, and you can't counter a 1st level spell with a 1st level spell, it's gotta be one higher. So I looked through the list, and, nothing really jumped out at me, so I said "fuck it" and did the correct thing.

Also, having 20 Int gave me ALL the first level spells forever.

I think you're short your human bonuses too. (One extra feat and +1 skill ranks per level. Maybe favored class bonuses too.)

So hey! Here are some rules you should follow why not.

RULES

Quote:
If I call you in combat and you have your action ready to go you get a +2 on your roll.
Quote:
I reserve the right to give other bonuses if I think what you're doing is particularly awesome.
Quote:
Each time you gain a level you gain 1 Fate Point. These points do not stack so you can't save them up, you can only have one at a time. So you might as well use them. I may also give them out to players who do something particularly awesome.

You can use a Fate Point at any time to do one of the following:

Defy Fate: Re-roll an attack roll, skill check, ability check, caster check or saving throw that failed. You can use this power for yourself or for a party member.

Action Surge: Take an extra standard action during a round.

Mana Surge: Cast any spell you know without using a spell slot, even if you do not have it prepared or have used all your spell slots for the day. It must be a spell of a level you are able to cast. You can apply any metamagic feats you have to this spell without increasing casting time (but still increasing the required spell slot level.)

Deny Death: Regain consciousness at 1 HP if you are unconscious and dying.

Last Stand: If your character is killed by any effect while conscious, you may use your fate point to immediately take a final round of actions before you die. You cannot use these actions to prevent your own death, this is purely a "go out guns blazing" kind of ability.

Some NPCs might have Fate Points too, so beware.
Quote:
Aside from your initial gear you start the game with, you may not purchase magical items. However, as the game progresses you may have the opportunity to befriend and ally with NPCs who can provide these services to you. You may also take the relevant feats and make these items for yourself.
Quote:
As GM, I can change the rules of the game at any time but will refrain from doing so in ways that are detrimental to the players' efforts.
Quote:
GMs are immune to silence.
Quote:
Don't be a buttface.
Quote:
Have fun. (This is the most important rule.)

How does this apply to spellcasters who have static spell DCs?

I had my silence spell ready for that response. It doesn't even allow a save. Can I at least get caster level +2?

You can't be immune to a spell that doesn't allow SR, since immunity is just unbeatable SR.

Which is why asking for +2 caster level is so sad, all it does it increase the duration and make it harder to dispel.

I dunno, that seems a little powerful. Why don't you make a caster check to see if you increase your caster level.

Helps if you make a character first though. Did you want to play?

No, I get +1 to my INT from being human. This is after the initial point-buy.

I got the skill ranks, but I think I actually did miss one feat. Which is obnoxious because there aren't any feats I want now, because I don't meet the prereqs. Hence why I took Run. Like, seriously? Hm... I'll look at the feat tree again and see if I can get anything useful down the line.

EDIT: no, I totally didn't get the skill ranks. I DID, but when I ended up bumpinng my INT to 20, I didn't readjust skills for that. Favored class bonus was extra spells, so I did get that.

actually, you get a +2 to your int for being human. You're still 2 points too high though. It cost you 17 of your initial 20 to get your int to 18. You also have a 12, a 12, and a 13, which is another 7 points. You only dumped 1 stat, and you only dumped it to 8. That means you spent 24, and you only had 22.

You can either dump your wisdom down to 7, or take 2 points away from your other stats.

So, let's see. 8 (-2 points), 12 (+2 points), 12 (+2 points), 13 (+3 points), 17 (+13 points).

That comes out to...18 points.

Wow. And interestingly enough, I thought I had 20 points to play with, not 22. Good lord this number crunching stuff.

Yeah, it is 20 points, so I'm only down two. That's still two points to play with... Hm. I probably won't be able to go to 14 dex, but I can probably go to 13 cha and qualify for feats.

EDIT: No, I totally can go to 14 dex. Doing THAT right now.

you don't have 22 points to play with, you have 20. I said 22 because you dumped a stat.

I did forget about the +1 for being level 4 tho, so now my math is all messed up. I'm just gonna assume you're right. And now I need to add that onto my guy.

Yeah, I found a pathfinder point buy calculator, called it a +3 racial bonus instead of +2, and everything was kosher.

So, now to find some suckers to subject to my flaming katamari death ball.

Possibly homework, if by some chance when I've procrastinated on it that long.

But other than that? Nothing.
