I need to change my vote, because I have not actually watched Meet the Spartans. My cousin actually forced me to watch The Legend of Awesomest Maximus, which is a similar and likely better (though still not good) movie. I should have googled before voting.

That was the "throw in as many pop culture references as you can without bothering to watch the source material or make them funny" film that came out around the same time as 300, right?

I am happy to say I never watched the whole thing, but it was on the tv when I visited a friend. IIRC there was a bit where Spider-Man and Sandman showed up, Sandman got disintegrated for some reason, and a cat came along to use his scattered remains as a litterbox before he reformed.

It's funny, because a man had cat poo on his face.

Yes, and it had Kevin Sorbo in it, right as his career was going into free-fall.

I was once at a movie theater to watch something I don't recall, and Meet the Spartans was playing at the same time. However, the theater messed up and had the signs for the movies outside the wrong theaters, so I sat through the previews and was horrified to see Meet the Spartans starting up, as were my fellow moviegoers. We complained to the management and got vouchers for a free movie.

So I have seen the opening minutes of Meet the Spartans, but not voluntarily.

I wasn't subjected to this, specifically, but I was once unfortunate enough to be in the same room as one of the other """parody""" movies in the same wave of... quick just look at every currently running movie trailer, come up with crude jokes based on those trailers, and rush it through production so fast that people who see it won't have a chance to have seen all those movies yet because we sure haven't.

A dire experience I would wish upon no one.

I think it was Superhero Movie. I vaguely recall the threadbare plot feeling like a rejected script for a 4th Spiderman, padded out with raw sewage, and Leslie Nielson slumming in it.

Jason Friedberg almost single handedly destroyed the parody film genre.
