The soundtrack for this entire show (Turn-A Gundam) was done by the lady who did Cowboy Bebop's music. It's a really good soundtrack.

Usually any trailer for horror movies.

2) What is one of your earliest memories of using the Internet?

Watching the Netscape logo animate in the corner of their browser.

Jim Henson

4) What's your favourite Planet of the Apes movie that isn't the first one?

None. I'm not fond of dystopian fiction

5) What's up with the moon?

I ascribe to the theory that it's mass spun off from Earth during the planets' formation.

6) What SHOULD be free, but isn't?

Living essentials.

1) What advertisement scared you in your childhood?

It was scary how long that Fruity Pebbles Christmas commercial kept coming back.

2) What is one of your earliest memories of using the Internet?

I had an email address on a BBS. This was like 1991.

3) What person or real world event needs a movie based on him/her/them/it?

Donald Trump: The Musical.

4) What's your favourite Planet of the Apes movie that isn't the first one?

I've only seen the first one. It was just okay.

5) What's up with the moon?

Everything is up with the moon, until suddenly it isn't and we all die.

6) What SHOULD be free, but isn't?

Freedom.

This is a gr8 answer. There are not any difficulties here with respect to rationing. I don't think there will underground gacha rings if we simply expropriate PNGs and increasingly large numbers from companies and distribute them to the people and all animals who are interested. (can chimpanzees be gambling addicts, too, I wonder)

1) What advertisement scared you in your childhood?
I got nothin’ specific. Probably ads for horror movies though.

2) What is one of your earliest memories of using the Internet?
Nickelodeon’s section of Clickamagigs. They were the only thing that loaded on dial up that didn’t take FOREVER (in impatient child terms mind you.) And watching the Internet Explorer Icon animation loop go around and around.

3) What person or real world event needs a movie based on him/her/them/it?
DB Cooper

4) What's your favourite Planet of the Apes movie that isn't the first one?
I have literally no opinion on this.

5) What's up with the moon?
Forget the moon, I wanna know what the rabbit that lives up there is plotting.

6) What SHOULD be free, but isn't?
Trade schools.

Answering before I look at the thread.

1) What advertisement scared you in your childhood?
Ads for the TV miniseries of IT.

2) What is one of your earliest memories of using the Internet?
My first co-op job in university, doing programming work for the provincial government. We didn't have internet at home yet (too rural), and all I'd used it for previously was doing research at school. During my down-time at that job, I discovered Sluggy.com, and Penny Arcade, and a bunch of other shitty webcomics, and suddenly learned how to waste time on the internet. For the first time in my life, I felt like I understood what the Intertnet was for.

3) What person or real world event needs a movie based on him/her/them/it?
Howard Phillips. They can base it on the new tell-all book that he is almost certainly writing, given his recent Reddit AMA.

4) What's your favourite Planet of the Apes movie that isn't the first one?
The remake starring Mark Wahlberg, because I'm a bad person (it's the only one other than the original that I've seen).

5) What's up with the moon?
I dunno, but I seem to love manga and anime that go there.

6) What SHOULD be free, but isn't?
The EO-style dungeon crawl mapping tool that I found online and wish I could use for my Phantasy Star Let's Play without shelling out $50.

Grid Cartographer. It used to have a free trial version for years, but he made it pay-only and scoured all of the free versions from the internet last year. It's pretty much exactly what you want to map old school dungeon crawlers without physical grid paper. It even has integration to provide auto-mapping with some games.

Answer as honestly or as whimsically as you want.
1. Any commercial spot for a horror movie, mostly. I love the Child's Play series for the schlock but as a kid it was the most terrifying thing in the world, and I'd cover my ears and close my eyes if the commercial came on.

2. Junior in H.S. 1996. Went to a friend's house who showed me this "internet thing", showed me how to use a browser and search engine (Lycos!), and then turned me loose. I remember being fascinated by chatrooms and almost immediately starting trolling them.

3. George Carlin.

4. Whichever one I can fall asleep to.

5. It's either too bright or not bright enough.

6. Chicks.

2. Intellectually I know magic doesn't exist, but I'm somewhat sure I can see the future in my dreams.

6. I remember telling my favorite daycare caregiver that we named our new kitten after her as like a 4 year old.

2. Yes. Everything is magic. Just because we found a scientific explanation doesn't mean it can't also be magic.
3. Self-discipline.
4. Hmm... Water. It may not be the most useful, but it looks the most best.
5. People who drive as far as possible in a lane that's closing before they try to merge.

1. What song or piece of music do you find really sexy?
I have deffo done the nasty to the Switchblade Symphony cover of "Lucky Star" at least once as a teenager.

2. Do you believe in magic?
Nope. I think that an important part of maturing on my part has been learning to appreciate things for what they and not what we'd like them to be.

3. What new skill would you like to learn?
Uhh... Japanese, lockpicking, sleight of hand, roller derby, martial arts, sign language, electronics repair, knitting, programming... I'm perpetually teaching myself new skills but there's all kinds of things I still want to learn. I've culminated a reputation as a jack-of-all-trades IRL.

4. What kind of bender would you wish to be?
Gender.

5. What is your biggest driving-related pet peeve?
People who stop halfway across the intersection to wave me across like they're doing me a favour.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally?
There is a tape out there of me reciting Peter Rabbit from memory at age 2 with perfect recall and pronunciation. I even got the all-important enunciation on "Peter SQUEEEEEZED under the gate" right.

1. What song or piece of music do you find really sexy?
Whatever it is, it's by Frank Zappa

2. Do you believe in magic?
That's a complicated question for someone who believes in prayer and sacraments.

But ultimately no.

3. What new skill would you like to learn?
I want to be able to read a novel in Japanese. I picked up Bokura no Nanokakan Senso, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Night on the Galactic Railroad a few years ago in Tokyo. To that end, I've been using every free learning service I can find to put off having to actually pay for professional instruction. I got through all the lessons in Duolingo, and now I'm working on NHK Easy Japanese and volumes of Yotsuba&!.

4. What kind of bender would you wish to be?
Surprisingly, if I search my heart: fire.

5. What is your biggest driving-related pet peeve?
When I get ticked off at somebody for cutting me off or something, and then I do the exact same thing moments later.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally?
Telling the First Thanksgiving story at Thanksgiving.

That's not my best memory of telling a story orally, though. The best is when I was about ten and recited most of the script from the "Dog of Death" episode of the Simpsons from memory.

1. Tell Me, Billie Myers. - Just. Damn. I'll be in my bunk.
2. Any sufficiently advanced technology yadda yadda. There's plenty we still don't understand about physics and the brain and so on. May as well be.
3. Right now I'm'a hafta go with grief management.
4. You don't choose that, it chooses you. (Probably Air for me.)
5. Gonna say unused turn signals just because it's so damn easy to do and yet.

1. What song or piece of music do you find really sexy?

ATM IDK. When I was a teen:

2. Do you believe in magic?

No. I did, though, when I was young. I converted to Wicca and was a Teen Witch. I ignored all disclaimers that Wiccans couldn’t cast potent, reality-altering spells and really went for it. I visited Crystalinks dot com for tips on developing psychic powers and knowledge about aliens, Lemuris, things of that nature. I once had a dream where I hovered above my grandparents’ house and was convinced I had astrally projected. How could my dream have produced imagery that I was highly interested in seeing!

I was also big into astrology. I wanted to go to the astrology college. Now, I find some defenses of astrology kind of annoying.

3. What new skill would you like to learn?

Tons, many have been mentioned. Self-discipline is a gr8 one. I would love to know Azeri but without doing the work; (clearly!) I just think it looks cool. (Turkish but with “ə”)

4. What kind of bender would you wish to be?

I wouldn’t!

5. What is your biggest driving-related pet peeve?

Anyone who’s going much faster or slower than I want to be, especially if there’s only one lane.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally? I can’t remember the specifics but I do vaguely remember charming older (teen?) cousins when I was a child, relating the story of a 90s stranger danger video to them in what was probably a stupid way. The more I try to reconstruct this, the likelier it is that I’m just creating a false memory (is everything I’ve written here even true?) but I think for some reason I thought “strangers” were a type of person who wore helmets covering their faces.

Unrelated to this memory specifically, I also thought what Strangers did with children they kidnapped was raise them as their own children in heterosexual two-parent households, typical aside from the fact that they stole you, I guess.

1. What song or piece of music do you find really sexy?
I assume this means sexy as in TIME TO BONE and not sexy as in, oh, hey, this is pretty good. In the interest of that first meaning, off the top of my head, Bang A Gong (Get It On) by T.Rex is basically sex in audio form.

2. Do you believe in magic?
Well, I hope you do. Because you'll always have a friend wearing big red shoes.

3. What new skill would you like to learn?
Underwater basketweaving. Or playing an instrument. Or sleeping soundly through the night.

4. What kind of bender would you wish to be?

5. What is your biggest driving-related pet peeve?
Having to drive at all. Jesus Harold Christ, I hate driving.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally?
Trying to entertain some younger cousins by regaling them with tales of some Lizard Knights. We have lots and lots of those green anoles around these parts. I probably would have been about 7 or 8 here.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally?
1. I suppose this is about as close to thinking about music in that way as I can.
2. I believe in strong emotional reactions. I also believe that the world is real, and that real things matter, because what the hell else is there?
3. I suppose right now I'm experimenting with video editing (partly for LPs, partly for just being a general screwball) with hitfilm. I mean, I already can make some damn good aggressive sex industrial synth music.
4. Octo's answer is the definitive one, but I think water bender is the second-most interesting, because there are a lot of gasbags who use the guise of being serious to starve widows and orphans and I would love to stop the blood from pulsing in their body.
5. Having to do it at all. Second-most is the pedestrians who try to cross in the middle of a 6-lane (in each direction -- plus the median is a turning lane) avenue that I go by basically every day on the way to work.
6. When I was 3 I saw a segment on the news about a thing where they would have a thing at the mall where you could get yourself filmed while reading a fake newsscript. So I went up there and despite them not believing I could, I asked for the script and delivered it reasonably well for someone who was still only like 3.

None.

2. Do you believe in magic?
Nope.

3. What new skill would you like to learn?
Animal Handling.

4. What kind of bender would you wish to be?
A rules bender.

5. What is your biggest driving-related pet peeve?
Folks that wait ahead of or behind the stop line in a left-turning lane such that the left-turn arrow doesn't activate.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally?
The Dungarvon Whooper. I was briefly involved in a program in elementary school where they were trying to continue the tradition of story-tellers, so they took the pair of us who had been chosen out of class, and some professional story-tellers came to teach the two of us some folk tales, which we then told to the rest of the school in an assembly.

This is a tough one. I lot of great sexy songs come to mind, but I feel I'm probably forgetting a lot of really good ones. I guess I'll go with "Sleazy Bed Track" by the Bluetones. The part of the song that mentions pills makes me think it's about a guy trying to distract his girlfriend from his drug addiction with sex, but I'm not always the best at deciphering lyrics.

Oh, and "Everything is Ending" by The Bird and the Bee, which is about end of the world fucking.

2. Do you believe in magic?
No. But quantum physics strikes me as such a mindfuck that I think if we could harness that, then I guess maybe magic is a thing. I do find low-level magic interesting, like when Grant Morrison claims that he affected his own self through his writing, but I feel like that's less magic and more psychological/subconscious perception based stuff.

3. What new skill would you like to learn?
Drawing. I love comics so much, I wish I learned how to draw. I think I was so intimidated by better artists as a kid that I never tried. Except when I made up my own Megaman Robot Masters and Video Game Levels for what my ideal Tiny Toons platformer would be.

4. What kind of bender would you wish to be?
Air. I'm not super agile or fast, but I'd like to be and air bending is pretty good for that.

5. What is your biggest driving-related pet peeve?
Usually it's on the pedestrian side of things and it's being yelled at despite having the right of way.

6. What is the earliest memory you have of trying to tell a story orally?
When my family was travelling across Europe, me and my sister would sit in the back of the rented vehicles, tucked away in sleeping bags (we were "snails") and she would tell me stories. She got sick of it one day and told me to make a story. I basically just started to tell the story of ALF and she called me out on it. I was embarrassed by this well into my teens. But it taught me not to be a plagiarist.

1. What's the worst book you remember reading?

I’m constantly reading books and being like, “this is the worst” but then I don’t think about them afterwards because there’s something else on the screen. Thinking about this for 30 seconds, I’ll go with The Lost World by Michael Crichton. I read both Jurassic books again when JW came out and couldn’t stop screencapping Ian Malcom for being infuriating and wrong all the time, and there’s so much more of him in the sequel.

2. Newspaper game of choice: Crosswords, Sudoku, the Jumble, other?

Crosswords, I guess.

3. Do you want to dance?

Love 2 dance alone; wish I were less self-conscious so that I could dance in public. Weddings are a bit of a bummer and that’s on me.

4. You are driving down the road at top speed. What music is playing?

Something on the radio. That’s what pop music’s for.

5. Do you believe in intelligent life on other planets?

Maybe. I’m not sure. Human-like intelligence doesn’t seem like a particularly inevitable development to me and I can see relatively common mass extinctions wiping out most species before it develops. Maybe we’re the first! Maybe intelligence is relatively rare. Maybe multi-cellular life is. This book is on my “to read” list and I will get to it “next,” “after I read any of the books people have recently bought or recommended to me including in a d*ng thread I started,” or “never.”

6. What's the earliest dream you remember having?

This is my shit!!

I’m not sure. I remember several childhood dreams and it’s hard to date them. Let’s go with “there’s a monster in my back yard, some kind of humanoid beast.” This may in fact be related to American Werewolf in London. I woke up screaming about it and my parents had to comfort me. Apparently, children have less well-developed and more mundane dreams than adults, but I remember as being a bit more “fantastic” as a child than they are now. The dreams I’m thinking about probably came from when I was a bit older, I guess.

Another early dream: I had a big old dinosaur egg. (was this from The Flintstones Movie? was there an egg there?) Woke up, complained to mom that I was no longer in a dream, miss that egg. She said I could see it I went back to sleep. I could not.

Either The Fountainhead or Anthem. I read Anthem for school, and when I was done, I didn't even want to look at it. When I read the Fountainhead, I kept fantasizing about adapting it as a comedy with Will Ferrell as the petulant, self-absorbed manchild of a main character.

2. Newspaper game of choice: Crosswords, Sudoku, the Jumble, other?
Crosswords. Main reason I even go to bars anymore is so I can do the crossword in the alt-weekly.

On the other hand, whenever I fly, I also do the Sudoku puzzle in the in-flight magazine. I still do the crossword, though. I like to try to see if I can finish it before the plane actually takes off.

3. Do you want to dance?
No.

I want to ~SIIIIIIIIIING~

4. You are driving down the road at top speed. What music is playing?
Last time I did this, it was Frank Zappa's Apostrophe.

Came as a big surprise to my roommate. I don't listen to a lot of music at home, so he doesn't see that side of me.

5. Do you believe in intelligent life on other planets?
Sure, why not?

6. What's the earliest dream you remember having?
Driving by a local mall, but it's a ruined castle in a misty swamp, surrounded by dragons with big eyes and big, sharp teeth. I'm pretty sure it came from this Chinese restaurant that was on the way to my grandmother's house. It had these big 2D pictures of Chinese opera masks that at the time frightened me, but I later realized actually looked pretty cool.

This dream later inspired a scene in my novel, though I had to change some details to make it work. For one thing, unlike 3-year-old me, the MC lures the dragon out of the dream and fights it.
