Which, to be fair, is kinda the appropriate reaction to Foggy.

I really want to punch Foggy's hair. Beyond that, I like the pilot. So far, so good.

Scott Glenn makes everything better.

Seriously, he's beyond ideal as Stick.

Wow, that is pretty Frank Miller-y, though.
Enjoying it!

Assuming end of episode 2, holy shit yes. Gave me some big time Oldboy vibes, which I loved.

The best part of that scene is how in between every punch Matt's panting and falling over. Really sells that he's not invincible, just implacable.

Yeah that's the thing I love about the character that the show gets 100% everything he does costs him. Most shows do a one take to show off, Daredevil used it to show how shit takes its toll.

Probably the best Marvel villain this side of Loki.

EDIT: Also holy shit this thing earns its MA rating.
I really like his courtship of Vanessa. It's really great at making him seem grounded. Then he bashes a Russian crimelord's head in with a car door and you remember why the Kingpin is one of Marvel's top villains.

I still like Michael Clarke Duncan's Fisk better, but D'Onofrio is like 99% as good.

It might be a while before I check this out, but I'm glad D'Onofrio is good as the Kingpin. He's got to be one of the toughest comic book characters to cast outside of animation. Even though he's not technically superpowered, his inhuman size is so iconic, it's tempting to cast a big guy and it worked with MCD (possibly the best thing about the movie, even if he's not given a lot of great stuff to do) but it's a challenge. I think it helps that Vincent has a big head.

But I wondered if he had the chops after seeing him in season one of Law & Order SVU (or was it a different Law and Order? Anyway, his character was terrible) and some really unappealing vanity projects. Nice to know that he's killing it.

Hi, I didn't read this thread and I'm not likely to watch Daredevil soon, but:

Why did you give this thread such a terrible title? Why doesn't it have the name of the program in it? How is someone supposed to find it if they didn't happen to remember that you named it after a different character instead? Is that really the best you can do? I'm very disappointed in you, Evil Dead Junkie.

(Daredevil isn't even that much like Batman. The only thing they have in common is that they're urban and sad and they use echolocation more than the average superhero. Everybody knows the real Catholic Batman is The Confessor from Astro City.)

Watched three of these tonight. Like the show a lot, though I'm not sure it needs to be pushing the hour running time so closely. The casting is pretty inspired all around, it's well-shot, good sound design, etc. Show's got some real grit in it.

I'm a little embarrassed that I made it through half the pilot before realizing that New York was messed up because of "The Avengers," but the setting is played so straight that it just didn't occur to me right away.

Just watched the pilot so far.

Was one of Russian guys the Owl, or was he just some other Eastern European Mafia-type guy with a similarly stupid haircut?

Man oh man this is a great show. I'm 7 episodes in and each one only makes me like it more and more. The only thing that's frustrating is that they're able to sow so many seeds that hint at future storylines that I know we won't get this season. But I guess that's to be played out both in this show and in the future Marvel Netflix series'?

The Owl is that one really sarcastic older man who is at the conference between Fisk's henchmen, the old Chinese lady (who is supposed to have ties to the upcoming Iron Fist series), and the angry Japanese guy (who, well you'll see what's his deal). Owl is the money guy of the bad guys.

Just a matter of procedure: the thread really should have been named Daredevil, though, just to let people know it is the Daredevil thread. It could have even been called The Adventures of Catholic Batman: Talkin' 'Bout Daredevil, or something.

Now, we enjoy the fight scenes.

But Daredevil really should carry a taser or something to put guys down faster. Just because he can take a beating doesn't mean he always should.

Honestly, I thought the show was going to be called The Man Without Fear until I saw it on Netflix listed as Daredevil.

Also, watched episode 2. Yes I do understand why everyone was talking about that one scene.
