So Starbucks is closing EVERY Teavanna location, and maybe the online store, too. Seems like they bought it just to kill it, which really sucks. But, hey, probably some big sales coming!

Where is a good place to buy loose tea online? I was Teavanna loyal because I had a friend who worked there.

Uh... seeing as they bought it 2012, I don't think they acquired it just to end it. Hell, they expanded it during that time.

$3.29 per box on Amazon

But if you happen to be in a Wegman's I believe they carry it there also, possibly a tad cheaper even.

Isse bought me some absolutely lovely Chrysanthemum tea (Chrysanthemum flowers) from My Cup of Tea. Very very high quality, and I strongly recommend it!

I came home with 20 different varieties of tea yesterday. I might have a problem.

I'm really excited, I'm going to make my first batch of kombucha! I'm steeping some Golden Buddha black tea in about a gallon of boiling water tonight for a few minutes, and tomorrow morning I'm going to put it in my beverage dispenser and dunk Lil' Miss Slime in there and see how she likes it. I have a couple weeks to decide what flavors to add for the second ferment.

If this goes good it could save us like a grand every year, based on how much of this stuff my wife buys.

Kombu-saga pt.2

I'm working with Lil' Miss Slime's granddaughter Jessica now for my 3rd batch. I'm doing a full 2 gallons at a time now, hopefully that works out well. Iron Goddess of Mercy is the tea for this batch.

I've had decent success so far. It tastes about right, but hasn't really gotten as fizzy as I want. Hopefully it's just a matter of more practice. In my second batch I did five bottles with Mango juice, which turned out great, and one with Strawberry Lemonade, which turned to vinegar. Woops!

Also realizing that the savings are not as significant as I hoped because if I make 2 gallons, it'll still get drunk in less than a week. I was kinda hoping it would last 2 weeks. Still saving a bit though.

I wish. It's all sitting there on my counter, slowly getting old/not as good.

I mentioned in I think the health thread a while back but I've been dealing with GERDs. And part of dealing with it has been no coffee/tea/caffeine. Even green tea or inoffensive herbal stuff was triggering tummy-soreness so I've had to stop. It's been a miserable three months.

Ah. Sometimes following the goings on here is like having to read several comics that touch on the same storyline. It may only be a bit player but miss it and you're lost.

Nah, I would not expect anyone to remember the minutiae of my life, but I know the feeling though. Many threads, many many posts, I'm lucky if something sticks long enough to make it past the short term memory threshold.

Tea is friggin' brilliant though. I miss ochazuke really bad

I know that's a tea but it sounds like a kind of pickle...

It is actually both and neither! It's a comfort food dish, where you pour hot green tea over rice. Usually with some toppings too. The toppings can be as complicated as a whole meal, or just some furikake or pickles.
