And quotes around "burger" since who knows how much real hamburger is used.

Yeah, this is the damage done, the old familiar pain.

I don't have any fast food where I live (not really complaining!)
The nearest town with the big box stores (local shopping is $$$$$) is about 90 minutes away, and on the way there is a McDonalds and a Burger King BUT the McDonalds is on the wrong side of the highway. So we usually stop at Burger King on the way up. The kids like the chicken fries. Kate gets the fish sandwich, no tartar sauce. Because I am a human Homer Simpson I get whatever the largest picture on the drive-thru menu is, usually something with a double patty, or jalapenos, usually bacon, etc. Sometimes onion rings but they give me real bad gas (not recommended on long car trips).

Don't forget to check that they gave you the fish sandwich without tartar sauce! Once you get back on the highway, it's hard to turn back. They say "special orders don't upset us" because half the time they disregard the special orders entirely. It upsets me dammit!

Burger King used to be a place I could spotpass from but it hasn't worked in ages, or maybe everyone just stopped bringing their 3DS. I don't know.

One of my favourite things about the Burger King here in town is that when I was growing up (and possibly still? I go to a different one these days), the drive-through had a custom Stop sign (like, it was a red octagonal sign with white text) at the end of it that said something like "Stop! Check your bag and confirm that your order is correct!"

Burger Buddies! I liked those, but only ever got them once.

I have a soft spot for BK. It used to be where my parents, aunt, and uncle would get together for coffee and breakfast (then later Hardee's), and it was my first job as well. Did not do good things for my teenage complexion, that.

I miss how the restaurants used to be; something about the brown tiles, wood paneling, and smell of the broiler just evoked a barbecue smokehouse.

One of my favorites is their original chicken sandwich, and I miss the BK Broiler. They used to have good chicken tenders with a seasoning I really liked, and that seems to sort of live on in their current nuggets.

Anyway, here's something I'm curious to see if any of you remember:

I wrote a bit about that a couple of years ago, when McDonald's started talking about adding table service.

I think I've seen everything but a Burger King in the chunk of Denver I live in; the only one I remember seeing was on the way to Glenwood Springs.

you probably didnt put enough ketchup on it though for Jbear's liking.

But then with Jbear its less putting ketchup on something and more drowning something in ketchup.

I certainly don’t want to risk a bitter arguement over this, but if you go to McDonalds, you can get a Super Mario toy.

I mean, either way you’re not going to be treating your body right, but at least you can get a little geegaw for your desk this way.

I went to Burger King for the first time in at least two years yesterday, only to discover they've apparently gotten rid of the BK Stackers I used to always get. I had to order a "Bacon King" that had the same general idea but was about three times the size and cost I wanted.

But I saw they also have Cinnamon Toast Crunch milkshakes now? So I'm probably going back soon anyway.

I'm eating a Whopper right now. I also have another for later because they've got a 2 for $6 deal and a single burger is like $5 already, so.

Growing up we had a Burger King a few doors down and we'd catch that glorious flame broiled smell when the wind came from the north.

(Winds from the south were a whole different story. A Taco Grande was right next door with all of its sour grease fumes. On those days I'd pretend my Archie's TMNT comics were scratch-n-sniff.)

Don't know why Burger King keeps changing their fries. Back in the 80s, they had golden deliciousness that rivaled McDonald's. Now they're just cardboard with salt, which is still better than how they used to be back in the mid-90s or so. Those were the dark times.

Anyway, BK had - has? - this Chicken Cordon Bleu thing that is awesome. That is all.

The correct way to eat BK fries is in a BK poutine.

BK probably changes their fries more often than the grease they fry them in, so I'd be surprised if a little of that 80s taste wasn't still in there.

I joke, but seriously, they seem to change their fries a lot. I think the only places that haven't are McDonald's and KFC.

Don't stir it though, I like the onions and sauce to mix in gradually as it melts.
