I figured it was a bread roll braid myself. In any case, pretty freaky!

It's only Wednesday but I spent a couple hours working on food because both things I'm doing had bits I could do ahead, and I'm taking them to another house early afternoon tomorrow. Making a sweet potato pudding with gingersnap crumble and a maple marinated tempeh.

I'm cooking for myself tomorrow. Have plans to make turkey/stuffing with cranberry sauce as the major flavoring, got purple sweet potatoes to mash, carrots to glaze, and recipes to look up to do all of that.

Today: "Hey, bring a pie tomorrow!"

Are you kidding me? I just gave up and bought a fancier looking store brand pumpkin pie.

I was copied on a 16 message long back and forth regarding pies last night. Very harrowing.

It’s okay everyone, Molly was able to whip up a very nice apple pie and Jared is bringing a pumpkin.

Prepped my potato bake last night, so it's ready to throw in the oven at my aunt's house.

It occurred to me last night that I told my dad that I was making these taters, but I have no idea if he told anyone else (all the family holiday planning takes place on facebook, and he's the only person in the house to actually book faces). Hope we don't end up doubling up on potato dishes! That would be a tragedy~

By the way, a discovery from last night: Old Croc smoked cheddar is goddamned amazing.

Pomegranate, kale, feta, candied bacon, in salad form. It's back, and it's delished.

I ate so many cheesy potatoes that I feel like a potato myself.

I was pretty excited about my contributions of beet and feta salad, stuffed mushrooms, cranberry orange relish, Mac and cheese, vegan mac and cheese and pumpkin pie to a multi-family Thanksgiving, but then me sister told me about the restaurant staff Mexican-themed Thanksgiving she was going to with turkey mole and coconut tres leches cake, and I was like "I want to go to there."

"I can't eat another bite or I'll explode. Oh hey, leftover mac and cheese in the fridge... *explodes*"

My sweet potatoes were a hit, which is good 'cause that dish is kind of a pain in the ass to make and almost made me late to the party.

Thanksgiving went great. My parents separately told us that all of the recipes needed to return next year, though I'll forgo making two different types of stuffing and just make the one with sausage next time. and cut the sweet potato recipe in half - it's glorious, but it makes SO MUCH.

It was very modern. my parents, me, Mr. LRLR, Mr. LRLR's boyfriend, and the boy-pup I've been courting this fall.

In the thankfulness thread we talked about the Southern Illinois Chowder, which is cooked over several hours in an iron cauldron. Here is what it sounds like while cooking.
