Coasters! That'd be something useful.
I'm kinda interested in this stuff (and I made a Hello Kitty one for my sister once), but what exactly do you guys do with them once they're done? I really like the coasters idea since that at least has some utility. |

Glue magnets to the backs and stick them on your fridge.

We did coaster ones with things like Space Invaders, Mario Upgrades, and Hello Kitty Face with square backgrounds. Then just got some flexible corkboard and attached it to the bottom and bam instant coaster. Works really well too. Another option would be to go with some clear sealant to close all the holes as well.

Do you usually iron both sides of the beads, or just one?
|

I usually do both for extra sturdiness, though it takes a light touch if you don't want to totally 'seal' the beads (ie, if you want to keep the little holes in each one visible)

Finally got around to trying this out!
![]() Technically this isn't accurate, because did you know in NES Super Mario Bros 3, the white and red are reversed? But that would have annoyed me to death. This one I had to touch up because the iron didn't get a single red bead. ![]() This one was a lot harder to make, and to iron. In particular, the two... guns? on the left and right nearly came apart twice. Finally prompting me to iron the opposing side. I don't think I like the dual-ironed look... These are a lot bigger than I thought! I still need to make my Nidorans. I think the hardest part to me is the ironing, since I haven't touched an iron in like 15 years. Also, everything I've read says 10 seconds but that doesn't seem long enough! |

About two years ago I made some Metroids. They're not sprite accurate or anything, but I wanted to see how many I needed to make the most basic metroid, and then scaled up it from there.
![]() I also made some with borders that act as coasters ![]() |

Very nice; you've been busy.

Yeah, if you don't go for the Gold/Silver era of sprites you quickly realise just how colourful pokemon are. Umbreon is impossible to do perfectly as there aren't enough shades of grey. I've got to warn you, they can get pretty massive too. Very satisfying when you finish, though.
I can't wait to see the finished articles! |

![]() Wooper. Because I really love Quagsire's entire line. ![]() Shuckle. So awesome. ![]() Reuniclus. Pokemon just consistently comes out with great designs, and here's one from Generation V. ![]() And here's my personal favourite from Generation III - Deoxys Attack Form. Note no "Forme" as I think it's the stupidest thing in the entire world. Ever. |

It's not the most awesome thing ever. I'm trying to decide what to do next - I want to do Rolento from Street Fighter Alpha 2 but it'll take multiple days and with little ones running round the house I think that's a recipe for disaster. I suspect it'll be a pokemon again. Or a Metroid thing. |

A work in progress:
![]() I ran out of sky- and grass-colored beads, otherwise this would have been done tonight. Next week, then! I'm not real happy with the orange. That's really close to what the game uses, but now that I see it beaded out I think I want to replace it with something brown-er. None of the browns I have really seem to fit, though. I'll have to see what's on tap in the store when I go to restock. I'm a little apprehensive about ironing this, have no real idea how to frame it, and don't have anywhere to put it if I did. Hah! eta: Also, it seems I used the wrong shade of green on the top of the hill. I'm bad at this! |

Well, it looks great to me. Very ambitious too. Having supported the Kickstarter I was going to do something Shantae related but what I was planning is going to look pretty sad now. Good job, Mr Road.

HOOTS was a fan favorite during my pokeymans stream, so I did him up right:
![]() This was a fun project because I took one of the sprites from the old GB games and then added the coloration from one of the DS ones. Still no idea what I'm going to do with these though, but I just bought 6,000 more beads so I guess I'd better figure something out. |

Charizard. Because I can. ![]() I'm on a bit of a Streets of Rage kick, so I thought I'd do some stuff from the second game. Firstly Blaze: ![]() Then Axel: ![]() When I have time I think I'll make them some baddies to punch. |
