Dude, it's just 10 Rupees. You can get them back with a single patch of grass.

They are nega-Rupees. They combust with an equal amount of Rupees in your wallet on contact. It can be kind of painful! In fact, the secret best way to defeat Ganon is to hire some disaffected Moblins to stockpile Rupoors in his basement, then slingshot in your late-game expanded wallet. Boom!

That would be the best Zelda game ever, one which would let you do that.

I discovered this just earlier. Turns out it's from an old folder, and I absolutely want one for my collection SO badly.

Something about it just feels so, so right to me. Granted, Zelda there looks a little funky, but I'm cool with that.

Seriously, I want this. It would be great if there was a poster with this art on it, but I'll gladly settle for the folder. Unfortunately, eBay is a bust there...

...somehow, even though that's based on the American cartoon['s outfits anyway], you can trace Wind Waker's aesthetic to that Zelda.

Huh. The sword Link's holding is from the boxart for Zelda II US.

Was that artwork also used on one of those collectable cards? I feel like I'm familiar with it but I know I never had a Zelda folder.

Zelda's, at least, save the headwear. Link is like Zelda I Link in Zelda II Link's outfit, which is what he wore on the show (and Captain N made a more detailed version).

Yep, that showed up as the Magical Sword in some stuff, including a simplified version in the cartoons. Check it out.

I always liked that sword, I loved when it would be used like this, and I'd love to see it return.

I'd also love to have one like this, though perhaps closer to the art (something just seems off about the real version).

Good question. I remember having a stack of collectable cards that had a black and white checkered border with artwork from Mario and Zelda, but I don't know where they are and I haven't been able to find them on Google. They're not the yellow ones with stickers.

I don't really know where these came from. I found them stuck to a file (you can see Crono's starting to peel).

Those are wonderful just for how hilariously off model they are. I like that the Epoch is apparently some sort of flying bumper car.

Random fleeting memory: Nintendo Power trading cards.

Picture of Link in the LTTP Card

Doesn't sound like your description though.

Ah HA!

I had the border wrong (must have been thinking of the floor in one of the Mario cards), but here they are, and the Zelda art is indeed on one of them.

EDIT: Looks like Zelda's actually tossing a boomerang there. Wonder if the entire picture exists somewhere.

I think I had that folder in a trapper keeper in 1989.

I love how it says Zelda II even though it seems to be based on the first game's art, especially since Zelda isn't asleep and Link is still a kid.

Man, what's with Toadstool's design here? I guess the proportions are right if you're Super Mario when you beat the game. Also, it looks like Mario jumped into a tub of baby oil before he stormed Koopa's castle...

Wow, Mario just looks so VILLAINOUS there. If I didn't know better, I'd probably think you played as that Hammer Bro. trying to rescue the princess from him.

On the other hand, tethering Lakitu to an immovable (?) spiny is a great idea.

Awesome! And I sure hope so.

Thanks for the update there; I made an article/post dissecting the pic, and included your card/credit in an update.

A lot of neat art from back in the day that's difficult to find... I tried to find one recently which I did find a sticker of, but anything else online? So far, it's been impossible.

You can see the sticker here; this was an interesting case of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels/SMB2 art being released in America well before the game itself ever saw its way here.

Finally...

From here, via here.

I want this to be a real thing so, so very bad, and the world is now a worse place because it isn't.

I can take or leave Baby Mario... in fact, never mind babies with different talents, never mind vehicles you can morph into (neat though they were sometimes), I love the idea of playing as different dinosaurs and taking on Wart and Birdo in a Yoshi's Island game.

It's based on the original SMB box art, from before Yoichi Kotabe came in and standardized the character designs we know today.

Find me this poster and I will be your servant forever.

And debase myself in any way you see fit.
