Default Diablo 3 thread of click-click-click-click!

Didn't see a D3 thread anywhere, so I thought I'd make one since news about a beta just came out.

Beta starts sometime in Q3, meaning somewhere in July-September

Who's ready to sink hours and hours of their lives into this? I know I am.

Damn it, I knew there was a reason I wanted to revamp my PC aside from Old Republic. I don't have time for either of these games, let alone both! Fucking a.

They're taking away Inventory Tetris!? Nooooooooooo!

Alas, I suppose I'll just have to console myself by slaughtering thousands and thousands of demons with my index finger!

Any idea what the necessary requirements for Diablo 3 are going to be, or is it too early to tell? I have a fairly high-end machine (for once), and I've been curious about this game for a while; I really hope I don't have to worry about upgrading.

And no inventory tetris? Man, if I'm not setting up portals to town every fifteen minutes or so to pawn off loot, will it even feel like Diablo any more?

Blizzard generally does a pretty good job of ensuring that you don't need the latest, greatest PC to run their games. As long as you're current within the past few years, you'll probably be okay.

Oh no, you still do that. It's just now you don't get to rearrange everything to squeeze in just a bit more loot before you do it. Actually, since it's like, each type of item goes in a different compartment of your backpack, you might end up needing to go back when it's still half-empty, because you aren't allowed to put daggers in the spaces reserved for armor.

Good to know that my entertaining-gameplay-errand-running ratio will likely be preserved!

I've never played a Diablo game before. Well, I played the first one on playstation once, for like a night. Is there anyone else LTTP who can tell me more about it? I know there are die hards out there but there has to be someone else out there like me...

WHAT?! Diablo 3 confirmed for disappointment of the year.

But whatever, it's pretty unlikely I'll have a new desktop capable of playing this game by the time this comes out. Then again this is Blizzard, so this might not even come out until Q4 2012, so who knows?

Basically, they're dark fantasy games about killing hordes of demons. The main appeal and replay value comes from the mutliplayer, randomized maps and loot. Lots and lots of loot. There and unique named items, but most stuff you'll find will be stuff like "______ Sword of the _____" The prefix and suffix words determine what effects the weapon or armor will have, like extra damage, HP/MP leech, increased chance of finding rare items or gold, etc. Also, your inventory is made up of a grid of squares, and the various items take up different amounts of squares and have different shapes, so you get the fun of arranging your inventory, like Tetris. Have you played RE4? It's just like that.

Gameplay is real simple, you point and click to attack and use skills. As you level up you get stat points to distribute and talent points to use on skills. So you get some bros, go out there and kick ass, get a bunch of loot, pass it around between yourselves to kick more ass. Then once you beat the game, you can play through it again with higher leveled enemies and better loot. If you can get some friends and get into it, it's lots of fun.

People on bnet can help fix that within like 30 minutes of you starting a new character. Such helpful folks, everyone knows act 3 sucks so people always rush through it.

Is anyone else already planning their characters? I'm looking at the Witch Doctor, myself... I'm not big on summoning hordes of zombies, but throwing exploding skulls at enemies is an attractive proposition!

That sounds like a pain in the butt and kind of a silly design decision. The D2 inventory was really satisfying! The only thing they should have done was add the ability to rotate items, and possibly an auto-sort button for when you don't feel like it.

I'm planning to make ALL of them. Though I suppose I'll start out with the wizard... but it depends on what everyone else I'm playing with is going.

Everything else after that.

I'm probably going to start off with Monk honestly. It seems to be inheriting the awesome keyboard dancing aspect of assassin, and hey, that was fun. Witch doctor I'm less enthused by than I should be, mainly because I played the %@$# out of the two summoner classes in the second one back in the day. Then after the day. Then like, a couple months ago.

I've never gotten into the beta of anything though, so, not holding my breath here either.

The witch doctor better have an ability where he chants "ooh-ee-ooh-ah-ah, ting-tang, walla-walla-bing-bang."

Assassin was fun when it let you build up 18 charges on one timer rather than individualizing them.

This guy knows where it is.

Yeah, it was too long. The various nerfs to "rushing" are really the only time I felt patches were adversarial to the player.

I'm hoping I can play this on my mac. But I kind of doubt it. I barely met the SCII requirements. D3 probably has more demanding system requirements than SCII.

If I can play it, I will be the sorceress. I always like magic users.

Bunglemancer is lost to us now, wandering somewhere in the wasteland, searching for enlightenment.

Surrounded by a thousand skeletons.
