And were also getting Mortal Kombat 11, just at the very moment I started fondly remembering MKX.

I don't remember Greg Miller doing anything too terrible?

Or, as it turns out, make a snap joke and show us nothing.

Laughing at the idea that RDR2 is better than GoW

GoW beat RDR2 in game direction and action game.

This blows my mind. I loved that trailer for him. Seeing the spirits of the Nintendo characters drawn in that style was so freaking cool.

I was so disappointed that they had nothing to show that I got up and went to the kitchen to make my lunch for today, and missed the Joker reveal trailer, haha. (I caught it on Youtube after.)

I would have preferred some Tokyo Mirage Sessions representation.

TBH, I didnít think Persona 5 performed all that well. It certainly didnít have the impact P4 did.

That's true, but they squared off in like...6 categories? And that's the only one GOW won. Also, just to clairify: I have no horse in this race, I've not played either game. I'm more just musing on the seemingly backwards logic that is the Game Awards.

The only other nominee for GOTY I wouldn't have wildly disagreed with is Spider-Man, so that's cool.

More importantly, SonicFox winning esports player is extremely rad.

God of War beat Red Dead head to head for best direction and best action game. It lost for best music, sound design, story, and performance. Doesn't seem like a very surprising final outcome.

Part the voting involves fan votes online, so that can throw in some unpredictability to the proceedings. That said if there some inside dealing going on to appease the egos of major publisher execs I wouldnít be surprised either. I could have sworn Warframe was nominated for best ongoing game again this year, but it was absent from the final list, and in my head Iím wondering if Activision didnít like the Destiny/Warframe comparisons.
