Actually, I should do a list of things I work on and really like!

Golden Kamuy
Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt
Blue Exorcist
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Tokyo Ghoul/re:
One-Punch Man
Black Clover
Most of Viz's Junji Ito books (Shiver, Tomie and Frankenstein)
Dorohedoro
Monster
Radiant

There's more than this (and things I like that I don't work on), but these are the standouts.

Big thanks for working on my favourite English-language editions of my favourite manga, that being Dorohedoro.

That's Berserk in a nutshell. It's a series that's been going on for 30 years and it goes to some interesting places. Also makes some choices that are more "conventional fantasy manga" than you might expect for being one that isn't.

BTW, also gonna say "Golden Kamuy". Plus, lots of weird sexual overtones and heavy violence and yet, no rape. Hooray!

But man, the art and the monster design is so good. And all of a sudden in Volume 3 there is a character who can only be described as a cenobite version of The Phantom Of The Paradise. And, and...

Goddamnit I'm going to end up reading this whole thing aren't I?
Berserk is a thing that starts out juvenile, matures into something awesome, and then regresses a bit into partial juvenility as it gets older. Just like the cycle of life!

Really, everything until you get up to The Boat is decent/good at worst because the author was still producing on a schedule. Nowadays he really only makes chapters when he needs more Idolmaster money.

I LOVE it and a while back I read through the whole series and marked every error I found so we could fix them in reprints.

I was trying to figure out how to explain the ending of Ms. Mystic. Watching Dan Olson's video about 50 Shades Freed and apparently the last third or so of Ms. Mystic is apparently the same as the movie, but -- oddly enough -- actually done a bit better. It even has a "we all knew each other when we were kids" kind of twist.

The happy ending to the story is bizarre. Main character's reaction can be summed up as follows, "Hey, you came in and alienated all my friends, tried to blackmail me, and almost wound up getting us all killed, but I love you you look like a supermodel so it's all OK."

That price is a steal.

They definitely know that their actual competition is piracy. I hope this works as a business model for them.

Not only is the price a steal but they’ll be publishing at the same time as in JPN. I only read a few WSJ titles but $2/mo is too cheap not to throw at them and clear my conscious and get a better product more conveniently than piracy. Plus it’ll be fun to go through their back catalog.

My one hope is that they start translating stuff they don't feel that wouldn't do particularly good business in print form. Old school Kinnikuman translated please.

how does Still Sick even exist, I ask to myself, as it depicts adults producing queer content also as completely clueless lesbians.

Just finished chapter 205 of Chihayafuru, and it feels like the emotional climax of an arc that's been going on since the very start of the series, and it caught me completely by surprise, and now I'm an exhausted puddle of tears. I hope the anime that's coming next year gets far enough to animate that chapter.
