Default Fork it, we need a Good Place thread

I think this show gets discussed enough in the television thread to justify its own full-fledged thread. Plus it's super great and everyone should watch it.

I liked the season premiere a lot. The finale felt like the setup for a whole season's worth of action, but they've already ripped it up and started all over again. Michael's scheme is going to go so far off the rails, and I'm pretty certain we've seen only a small fraction of what we're going to learn about the afterlife.

I'm glad that the plan worked so quickly, because after spending a whole season having the characters figure out what's happening, spending even a handful of episodes watching them do it again could be a drag. Doing it one episode suggests they have way more up their sleeves this time which is exciting.

I've only just started watching the show as it only came to Netflix a few days ago, but I'm already loving it.

Feels very much in the vein of Pushing Daisies as a half hour comedy.

We loved the first season, and I agree that the pretty much immediate unravelling in the first episode was an inspired decision.

I genuinely don't know if they'll be able to recreate the magic of season 1, but it's like of they don't then it's just a good show with a great cast and that's not the worst thing in the world.

Anyway here's a funny video of the writers running through season 1's finale with the cast. D'arcy is having a real emotional journey the whole time.

One clever filmmaking trick that I never really thought about but seems obvious in retrospect is that the show never actually shows Janet materializing — she always just suddenly appears in the next shot. A pretty neat, analog approach to the character on a show that otherwise uses CG fairly regularly. It's probably for cost-saving reasons, given how often she appears, but I like it.

Holy shit that was a good first episode. Every line of dialogue, the delivery, and just how miserable the torturers are at their jobs. Can't wait for the next episode.

I was a bit worried that the show was going to get stuck in failed loops, but that episode was exactly what was needed.

Chicken Soup for the Mouth

It sucks they're seemingly stuck in the clam chowder loop though -
it's just hot ocean milk with insect croutons!

Just finished season 1. Turns out I was totally wrong about the finale swerve, which I shouldn't have been since I HAVE seen that episode of The Twilight Zone.

Octo, I need to know: are you a writer for this show? Because that party they shown in this latest episode was pretty much what I imagine your perfect party to be.

A ball-pit full of puppies! Build-a-Real-Bear! Ride in a Kangaroo pouch! Unicorn rides!

Hungry Hungry Hippos with actual Hippos!

(Well... If we're talking about the fictional version. The real thing would be an entirely different story.)

I loved the similar sight gag at the festival, Build-an-Actual-Bear. There were probably a bunch more, as this show tends to go.

Of course not;

Kangaroo pouches are full of mucous!

I'm willing to bet that these kangaroo pouches wouldn't since this is The Good Place.
well, in theory anyway. To make the party better to torture Tahani more, they'd be mucus free.

The Trolley Problem was probably the funniest episode yet, imo.
