I don't really think it's worth wasting your time over such a trifling thing.

You'll have to be more specific. Do you mean the outlaws or the men?

I think I was specific enough. Violence is always the answer (and sometimes the question).

Year 1330, part 3

We've decided to attack the bandits in an attempt to drive them off and recover our men.

Leading the war party is Farad, the geezer who would have replaced Insterid on the clan ring if he weren't about to kick the bucket. That doesn't mean he can't also kick butt. Because he can.

In this case, though, it didn't matter. We failed our rescue mission, but at least no one was killed.

And then

Immediately after resolving the last event, this one pops up. This is a little unusual, even for sequential events. Here's the full text for this scenario:
Kangharl and Sarotar, the two young men who were carried off by outlaws come back to the tula at dawn. When asked what happened, at first Sarotar says, "Nothing." Then Kangharl chimes in with an elaborate story of their escape from the outlaw women, who meant to sacrifice them on a bloody altar to Gagarth, god of outlaws. The women of the clan suspect that Kangharl and Sarotar are both lying, and that they committed adultery with the outlaw women. Adultery is a serious crime among the Orlanthi.
And here's what the ring has to say on the matter.
Yerestia: Only the women want to press this issue. I can convince them to let the matter rest. Recommends #1.
Harvar: Errath tolerated adultery, because he was tempted towards it himself. Thus began the chain of events that made him the tragic kind. Recommends #3 or #4.
Insterid: We can bluff the outlaws into fleeing, but should avoid a battle to the death. Recommends #5.
Iskalli: They are obviously lying, but it will be hard to prove. Kangharl is the cleverer of the two, but is likeliest to trip himself up with his runaway tongue. Recommends #3.
Valensta: Only the women want to press this issue. Recommends #1.
Arene: I don't have an opinion on this. No recommendation.
Heortarl: The truth has many virtues, but it does not help you sleep at night. Recommends #1.
Mogri: When a leader offers her skills as Yerestia is doing, it is often successful, but failure means the women will become upset. Keep in mind that the men are very obviously lying. If we want to force a confession, Iskalli is probably right about who to choose, but getting a confession means we'll have to decide what to do with these men. Sending a war party is unlikely to mollify the women, but Insterid is obligated to provide a military opinion all the same.
Does anyone else find it odd that only the women are pointing out that only the women care about this?

Anyway, let's figure out what we want to do with these schmucks.

6. We don't need this being a problem again, and I want to justify as much violence as I can. Even if I can't justify it, I'll be going for it. Let's be total Klingon warlords here!

Well, I guess it depends on our population size. Do we have 300 people? If so, 2 men of 150 or so is statistically significant.

What's funnier is I specifically looked for a population indicator. *descending trombone sound*

Look, if we gender-flipped this everyone would be disturbed by the idea of forcing two women who were kidnapped by outlaws and possibly raped to admit to this fact so we have some kind of feeble pretext to go warring against some other tribe.

So let's just go warring against the other tribe and not bother with the justification. Clearly they're being aggressive.

They're not a tribe or even a clan. They're outlaws, meaning they used to belong to a clan but got kicked out, perhaps for adultery.

Agreed. This is why, as someone smart said a while back here, violence is always the answer and sometimes also the question. In video games anyway.
