Watching them bring up the new website LIVE!!! and then it didn't work at first... classic.

Guess it's time to find the copy of Sense of an Ending I bought six months ago?

Yeah, I just read through a third of it during my lunch break, but I'm really enjoying it. I figure I'll be done tomorrow.

It's kinda of ridiculous just how giddy I still am that the podcast is back. Every time there's a new episode, I still get a big dumb grin on my face.

Which one was that?

Also, has anyone else noticed how unsure of himself Jake seems when making a point? It's always "I don't think of have anything useful to say about this, but [really insightful point, well made] or something, maybe, I don't know. Um, video games".

Yeah, Jake's always been that way.

Teg, that's awesome! They haven't read any of my questions yet.

Me either! Player One Podcast read my iTunes review though, so that's something.

So according to Twitter, Shawn Elliot might be on next week's episode. That would be awesome!

If they got him and Jeff Green to join the cast I would die.

After last week's episode, I put this together and posted it on the Idle Forums. I probably should have posted it here too!

I actually started laughing out loud when I heard how many copies of The Ship the guys had received on this week's episode. Also, it was kind of weird having Nick back on for this episode, he struck me as really serious for some reason.

Speaking of Nick (man, fuck that guy), I've decided to go back and start listening to old episodes of Idle Thumbs, since I spend a lot of time listening to podcasts while walking and my weekly subscriptions added up aren't quite enough to get me by. I went back to the beginning and was happy to find that the show was really good even from the first episode! I'm looking forward to rediscovering some old bits that I had forgotten about over the years. Although I'm seriously sick of hearing the guys talk about Far Cry 2, so I may wind up skipping a few segments...

Yeah, the back episodes are still almost all great. Plus, you get to remember the good old days of Idle Thumbs songs.

It's weird because while I both love the Brodeo and Idle Thumbs, Shawn's vulgarity (which is awesome, don't get me wrong) doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the Idle Thumbs crew, but his intelligent observations about games certainly do. As great as this episode was, I just want more brodeo.

I'm not saying that Idle Thumbs isn't vulgar at times, I just feel that, well, fuck. There's a line that I see between the two that I can't quite put into words. Please somebody else tell me they know what I"m saying.

The Thumbs guys are vulgar to amuse each other.

Shawn Elliot is vulgar to amuse himself.

The Thumbs are the nerds and Shawn's the cool kid who drinks and smokes pot in the parking lot after school.

I dunno man, I thought he might have been a bit brusque when he was telling his Clapper story but when they really got into meaty game design talk Elliot definitely held his own with the present company. I especially liked his desire to explore a game setting revolving around communication and his analysis on how being able to understand and communicate is generally a given, and when its not its a temporary gimmick or setback instead of a focal point.

I mean yeah Elliot might use a different crasser speaking style than the Thumbs we're used to but he's still hella smart and interesting to listen to, and his speech has no bearing on it I feel. Not trying to call you, Starman, out on anything by quoting you, I'm just throwing out how I feel.

This was a harder listen than normal because Shawn Elliott's attitude often drives me nuts. It's really hard for me personally to separate his insightful discussions on game design with his frat-like nonsense. I really don't understand his pro-trolling perspective, for one.

I especially got more and more tired of him after the Brodeo to the point that I stopped following him on Twitter because he more and more would just lodge thinly-veiled personal attacks on people/groups who couldn't defend themselves. This all just because he didn't understand their "culture". (Seriously, don't just assume people who like things you don't like are autistic or slow. You've not only lost the plot, but any argument doing that.)

No. That was dumb to say. Very dumb to say. The average Thumbs cast tends to coast right along and suddenly it is e-mail time followed by the end of the 'cast. This cast on the other hand gets bogged down a ton.
