Pretty awesome looking just the same.
I tried to preserve button pushing functionality too, but found with no real tools or resources I couldn't really make it happen; you may be able to notice the shine of superglue keeping the buttons in place lol.

Sweet. Seeing these is giving me the urge to break out the box of pixel-blocks I have sitting at the back of a shelf somewhere and make some nice 8-bit designs.

New Skill Get! I just learned how to bind a book this weekend. The little blank book I made turned out pretty nice!

ChefCthulhu have you seen the 3d beading video game projects around the web? That might be something you'd be interested in pursuing...

let me see if I can dig up a link...

here it is: http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2009/07/...ead_sprite.php

this reminds me I need to post pics of my hollow book project... Is that crafting? I'll go on a limb and say yes, yes it is.

my next project is to make homemade gunpowder!

Yea I've seen those. I'm still in the process of getting some of the flat bead stuff worked out. I ran into some issues when pressing this one so want to get some more 2d ones finished then likely go to the 3d. Though I want to do a Mushroom box here soon so hard to tell.

I had a pretty awesome request over at my Etsy shop. A fellow wanted a set of buttons from Cave Story. I was all too eager to make this a reality.

I made a 1/4 scale chair for a Halloween/Autumn swap on a doll forum:

And I learned how to make very tiny bound books:

These are thread bound, I had previously been making tiny perfect bound books.

Making books is something I've always wanted to do but never got around to learning how to! Was it difficult? Can you recommend a good source?

I made a tutorial for the perfect bound type...and just learned how to stitch signatures together from this site. It's really not hard, if you have any questions I can try to answer them.

We actually learned how to make those in a stage props class I took in college. Our prof advised gluing together all the pages to be cut in advance and then using a jigsaw or Dremmel.

A jigsaw or dremmel would have been perfect for me if I had either one of those. I did glue all the pages together in advance.

You mean like this?

It's on plastic canvas and the backgrounds are all stitched too. While I haven't played around with it much, you can do some nifty stuff with patterns. I've been meaning to do more of it.

Hmm, sort of. That's done with embroidery floss, right? I'm thinking of the way my mother and grandmother do it - the canvas isn't plastic, and they use a single ply of wool yarn...the effect can be a little old-fashioned, but the pieces just have a certain...I don't know, richness? Like a tapestry almost. Not sure how to describe it. I just think doing a whole scene (figure and background) would look fantastic.

Why haven't I found this thread sooner? I was in a Crafts class last year!Sadly though, I only have three projects I actually uploaded.

Sorry about the paint job on the spikes, Some butthead in class decided to mess around with my mask and I tried to cover it up. (Those black ones is where the asshole messed with it.)

I made this for Shinji about March this year. It literally took three classes to finish the whole project and add the finishing touch.

This next one had countless mistakes in it, next time I paint something onto a box I'm going to lightly draw in pencil first.

And this is the inside of the box, my teacher said to fill it with something that reminded me of the outside. I feel like crap about the Boo and Pokeball, every piece of wood I used had some sort of hole in it and I couldn't find the right one for him.

Azar can post a picture of the ghost I made him a while back.

while up in the attic cleaning last week, I also found the hilarious PigBot made around the same time.

Last Christmas, while on break, I took the time to get out my old acrylic paints (hahaha, bought most of those back in uh... 3rd grade) and repaint a couple of statues I had rediscovered, also probably in the attic

http://www.snowy-day.net/pictures/th...hoto%20133.jpg

of course, I had to take off about three layers of paint off the wizard and five off the maiden. She had blue, white, red, black, I don't remember what all. The trim had been yellow, orange, yellow. I scraped that ceramic and soaked it in alcohol for hours. Luckily I had no sense of finesse as a 10 year old, so the layers were thick. Also, I had acquired some gold glittery paint in the meanwhile, so made the gold trim, you know, gold

Then I sprayed them with a coat of clear sealant and damn, I'm still happy with the results a year later
