So might that cherry limeade also be better from a bottle? I only had it from this machine.

News articles about the Freestyle make it sound pretty configurable, at least by Coke themselves, with its software, network connectivity, RFIDed syrup cartridges, and inkjet-derived spray nozzles. Hopefully they'll update the formulas, although they might not tell us when they do.

Since Coke, Pepsi and Moxie all have some sort of history with medicine or drugs, the fact that the Freestyle's mixing nozzles were used for medical microdosing before they were used for soda should make some people excited, right?

Advertised as NYC's best egg cream, and by god, they're right.

I must have passed by that place over a thousand times. I am dubious as to its claim.

I will admit, some research shows that they are indeed in the running for best egg cream in the city. No one had ever told me about them before.

My vote goes to "Ray's" (though i'm not sure if they have that on their signage) on Avenue A between 7th and St. Mark's. They're the shop with the big "Belgian Fries" sign outside.

Has anyone figured out how to remake the tropical fruit sprite remix out of one of those things yet?

Wow... Ive gotten to the point where I can't stand the taste of anything that isn't Mnt Dew. Coke is just good enough as a substitute but usually I just drink water (and by drink I mean choke it down).

One of the places I eat at around here has a Freestyle, and I have discovered the joy of Peach Mello-Yello and Cherry Vanilla Mr. Pibb.

Unfortunately, the choices are preset so you can't just dump all the fruit flavors into one drink.

There seems to be a new style of Red Bull, and it's completely terrible. It tastes just like Amp, which was already disgusting. Red Bull has always tasted far better than any other energy drink, so it's too bad this tastes just like a competitor. On a related note, I'm also really sad that I can't find Red Bull Cola anymore.

It tastes the same but it's just cola with both HFCS AND artificial sweetener. I'd rather just take one of the other versus a cocktail of it.

Tried Cocaine energy drink today, Spicy Hot flavor. It's the most unpleasant thing I've ever ingested.

The very first thing you taste is a sickly, liquid candy sweetness that immediately sours into an F-grade Warhead. No discernable flavor, just sugar and sour. Then it burns. Not in a good, full-bodied hot sauce way, just an obnoxious prickling at the back of your throat and tongue. It's like if you mixed lye with generic Kool-Aid. I finished it off five hours ago and my stomach is still in revolt.

The only "good" thing I can say about it is god damn is that a lot of caffeine. I haven't felt an honest-to-god caffeine buzz in years.

Basically, I would not recommend it to any living thing on the planet.

Two artificial sweeteners!

I alternate between sugar and diet drinks often enough as it is, so I don't really care too much :} Now I can alternate between half-sugar and diet!

You know what's awesome? Baja Blast mixed 1:1 with NOS energy drink. Citrusy deliciousness.

I guess some people would consider HFCS artificial... but what's the fourth? (aspartame, sucralose, HFCS, and...?)

No saccharine in Pepsi Next. Apparently the fourth is Acesulfame potassium

I'm not too big on butterscotch but I can see how the beautiful wizardry of root beer could elevate it

There's potential in that but it would be the razor's edge of sweet/sickly sweet. As a Root Beer afficianado, I must track this down. FOR ART.

I do wish folks would do more sharp root beers. Most micros trend toward sweet.
