Just another example of how sometimes limitations create the best art.

Yeah, you can tell that there are a few different time periods based on Black Widow's hair too.

BEAT- Using black and white for flashbacks is a common technique, and they just highlighted some red because it's Marvel's color. I really don't think that they were going for a specific reference.

It's interesting that we still don't know much of anything about this movie. We know that a bunch of Avengers meet up and come up with some sort of plan. At some point they wear suits that sort of look like Hank Pym's suit in Antman & The Wasp, which is pretty suggestive based on that movie's post-credits scene. There are some rumors out there from an investor meeting and some old quotes from actors that hint at a couple of big fights, but beyond that it's all pretty mysterious. Even the few action shots in the new trailer don't give any context.

The last 21 movies were pretty much all of the advertising that this needs, and they are doing a great job of just letting the ads set the scene and not really tell any more.

There is literally no way people in the film industry didn't know they were Schindler's Listing an obviously reversible space rock magic tragedy. It is . . . a very famous movie.

What's black and white and red all over?

my favorite part of the hilarious MCU Presents: Schindler's List (2019) part of the trailer are the normies with post like, "whoah, a spielberg homage! very cool!!!"

I'm trying to imagine the conversation. "Hey, what would really drive home the idea that this is a tragedy?" Everyone together "Schindler's List!"

But seriously, flashbacks are often black and white. Having one color stand out is not even that uncommon, Sin City used that style a ton. There are even apps that will do it for you. I just don't see it as a deliberate marketing choice.

I think it's much harder to imagine that no one on the team noticed or said anything.

Regardless of intention, it's at best extremely hilarious and tacky.

It's definitely the same technique used in Schindler's List, but it's not like the fact that Schindler's List used it means it can't be used for anything else less serious.

I don't disagree.

It does mean can't be done without being hilarious and tacky, though, in the specific context of space rock magic genocide.

Superhero comic book catastrophes of the traditional sort are inherently hilarious and tacky. It's the primary appeal.

The film simply takes itself seriously enough to take its space rock magic genocide seriously, estragon.

I'm sure they thought of Schindler's List and just didn't think it was enough reason not to use the idea.

Here’s the corrected version with Danai Gurira’s name included. Seems weird that it was left off, but Marvel claims it was an accident & was quick to correct it.

It's amusing to me that in that poster, Nebula is such a small, de-emphasized part of it when she should be the most important character there

So uh. Disney rehired James Gunn to direct Guardians 3. Apparently this was decided months ago. He will do it after finishing Suicide Squad.

Wow. Well, that's good, I suppose ngl I was kinda hoping Taika Waititi would take over if Gunn didn't come back, but this will do

Taika said it was Gunn's movie and I respect his anti-scab stance

Baller. We get a good director doing the movie we all wanted him to, AND we get to piss off the disingenuous dorks who got him fired the first time around.

Having to wait until after Suicide Squad kinda sucks but if that's the only price to be paid for Disney's initial caving then I suppose that's fine.

Some of those decade old jokes were pretty bad, albeit the least surprising thing in the world from a former Troma person and for better or for worse more or less in line with edgelord humor of the era.

But this one did make me laugh every time I saw the meme'd collage of his old edgelord tweets.

(spoilerpop'd for anyone who doesn't want a raunchy joke unless they make the choice to see it)

At least maybe a good Suicide Squad movie will happen, assuming Warner Bros doesn't trip him up with hoops to have to jump through. But he has proven himself at Marvel and it looks like DC stopped trying to be beholden to a shared universe mentality, so hopefully that will help a lot.

That's good news!

e- also, his name is already on the Endgame poster as a producer. Someone pointed it out yesterday and I was surprised that he still had a credit.
