But the first one's plot is simple! Case in point:

There was also a GBA port of Lunar, that supposedly was something of a happy medium between the PS1 and Sega CD versions.

I can't speak as to the games quality as it is rare to the point of being mythical.

Shit I think I actually owned that.

I was kind of... horribly bored by it? But I was also on a horrendously long plane trip so...

A happy medium between the two I think would be the most horrible version available... so BEAT's assessment sounds about right.

Still kind of neat to hear about that, as I never heard of it before, and I really loved the Lunar series... in its time...

I played a ROM of that game a long time ago.

It was bad. Like, *really* bad.

It was a bad, bad port. But the character sprites were cute.

Weirdly, I can go all over your site with no problems, but the Kingdom Hearts FAQ page is blocked at work for some reason.

I guess even insurance companies find the plot of Kingdom Hearts offensive.

The thing that made it stupid was that saving and resetting the GBA version refilled all HP and MP, rendering most combat trivial, and since you could save almost everywhere...

This is something I find genuinely fascinating. Does it reject both posts, or just one?

From those links, just the first one is blocked. Post #2 works fine. But, now, when I click on the Kingdom Hearts FAQ link on the right side of your site, it loads them both up and I can read them both.

Corporate has recently introduced filtering software for "sites it doesn't know." Check out this (edited to remove company) error message:

Quote:
ATTENTION

AN ACCESS RESTRICTION HAS BEEN PLACED ON THIS SITE BY -------

The site you are attempting to access is not known to -------’s filtering software.

-------- is now blocking websites that are unknown.
To learn more about unknown websites, visit our Question & Answer webpage.

The unknown website you attempted to access was
www.gogglebob.com

If this website is needed for business purposes, you may have this website reviewed by -------- security personnel
to ensure that it is not malicious and to request categorization in our filtering software.
Then it gives a link to a form I could submit to get access to your page, which I'm not going to do because they'll likely block the whole site lol. I've been trying to figure out how it filters stuff and I'm at a loss, to be honest, especially with regards to your Goggleblog.

Completely wild mass guessing here, but, assuming the message isn't just plainly what it is ("This website that started existing last month isn't in our database for some reason. BLANKET BLOCK!"), I'm going to say the references to actual, for real geek idols Mark Hamill and Leonard Nimoy set off alarms that you're visiting some random nerd site not related to actual business.

So, basically, I blame George Lucas.

You know we have to science this now. Make a new article that is just pictures of Hamill and Nimoy with a banner that reads "GoggleBob's internet site of bad for business time-wasting featuring the latest news on the Katy Perry/Taylor Swift feud ".

But I can still read all the articles on your site! And go to the Final Fantasy XIV reddit! And Talking Time!

Though, yeah, it's probably George Lucas's fault.

So today's DQ8 post turned into like my TT secret origin. So it seems relevant to mention it or something.

it is always relevant to mention all posts

it's okay to shamelessly self-advertise in your own self-advertisement thread!

I remember playing DQ8 and obsessively charting out all the numbers the roulette wheel in the casino would land on for a couple of hours. My wife told me she was pretty sure I was going to find out it was completely random.

Joke's on her, it was only almost completely random. Pretty sure there was one number that tended to show up, like, slightly more often than other ones.

Oh man I loved Mark Shallow's ADVENTURES.

EDIT:Oh my fucking god. that's EXACTLY how I discovered talking time back in the day! A webcomic link tangentally related to Magic 8 Squall!

Holy shit.

So the entire point of that post was that the whole chain there was statistically crazy... and it turns out someone who was already mentioned in that post experienced almost the same exact thing?

Random chance, everybody!

Also, JPFriction, what was the number?

Gods, I could technically trace my being on Talking Time to my sister. Let's go down the steps here.

1) My sister sends me a link to Globetrotter XL, a flash game on Kongregate.com
2) I register for an account at Kongregate, start playing flash games.
3) Stumbled across a game called "Mardek" made by a guy with his own personal forums at Fighunter.com (now more-or-less defunct)
4) Poke around the forums there for a bit, someone there introduces me to TV Tropes. The existence of "aturtledoesbite" ceases to exist for about a month.
5) While buried in TV Tropes links, I find reference to a webcomic called Captain SNES. I go read its then-720 pages, discover it has a forum, and register for it.
6) Completely unrelated, in 2012, I discover this little thing called the "Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta". I do a run, decide that, hey, FFV isn't as bad as I thought, maybe I'll do it again next year.
7) Meanwhile, on the Captain SNES forums, I start a string of ill-fated Let's Plays. I never did learn my lesson that I'm not good at them.
8) The 2013 Fiesta comes around, I decide 'hey, maybe i'll try to LP FFV; how bad could it be?'
9) One of the other forumites at that forum, Red Silvers, offhandedly mentions linking my LP on some other silly little forum called Talking Time. Perhaps you've heard of it?
10) Curious, I decide to go investigate. At this time, however, the Talking Time forum was on lockdown, only viewable by registered members.
11) Registration is free, however, so I decided "what the hell, I'll register" and BAM!, here I am.

That's some hella random chance, I think.

please do not go look up my old unfinished LPs, i was a stupid 16/17 year old, as were we all

Ah! But the difference is that there is no PROOF of my stupidity as a 16/17 year old on-line!

I'm ashamed to say I did not keep my notes, many apologies. 17 sounds right to me for no particular reason.

Of course I just save abused my way to the goodies in the long run, I just made notes while doing so.

I wandered over to TT because I was a fan of Parish from retornauts. I'd imagine that is a common story.

Pseudorandom Number Generators in software often have issues like this.

Which is too bad because I was loving seeing someone play through Golden Sun II.

My TT origin story is a little different.

Both of my brothers were around since a little before TT v1 So I pretty much grew up hearing my brothers talk about TT people and such for as long as I can remember. Then a few years back when TT was wiped and turned into TT2.0, I asked my brothers to help me make an account a few months later and left it sitting for a couple years. Then I started lurking diligently for about three years before my first post a little over a year ago.

I do still have that save! Maybe if I ever get into a Golden Sunny mood, I'll see about going back to that!

but no, the LPs i'm talking about there are trash and bad and should be eradicated from the internet forever

Today I learned: SMT's American roots can be traced to the Virtual Boy, of all things.

Technically accurate, though, as I failed to mention in the post, there are like six copies, total, of Jack Bros. floating around, so it was kind of overlooked...

Incidentally, for those of you that are curious, the last two Kingdom Hearts FAQ posts (Number 3 and Number 4) both had some original, new content that didn't previously appear on Talking Time. The KHFAQ posts were supposed to be easy, just slap something up on the site posts that didn't take but a minute to do, but I seem adverse to making my life easier lately.

Gogglebob, if you want to make things harder on yourself with your KH FAQ:

Why can Roxas wield two keyblades? and why have you not tried to suggest that dual-keyblade-action is from the Power Of Heart

I almost delved into that in the FAQ, but it's pretty simple if you follow the math: Sora has his own heart (1), so Roxas has all the rest (including Ven and Xion) before being absorbed by Sora, so 2.4 or so, which is still greater than 2, so two keyblades.

Come to think of it, I really hope this means Xehanort and his whole "make thirteen of me" plan leads to a multi-armed, 13 key-blade wielding monstrosity.

I've always been a little disappointed that we never got a Solar Jetman sequel that didn't address *waves* all that. It's such a good premise for a game, why hasn't anyone else thought to make it work?

Same thing with Friday the 13th.
